Jurassic World: first image

Posted by ,

The French consumer catalogue has provided us with our first view of Jurassic World, and also states that the six sets will be released at the start of June, just before the film's premiere.

The image shows a T-Rex, two raptors and a Pterodactyl that all look similar to those in the 2012 Dino theme which is unsurprising but disappointing.

By in United States,

I wonder if these will do better overseas. I know the US didn't really catch on to these sets a couple of years ago, but the world is a large place.

I really hope this time the set with the raptor will be more easy to get. I for one am fine with them being largely the same to the Dino theme from 2012.
Anyway , I know this'll be another 2015 theme I'll hope to buy several of.

WOW, I can't wait for those to come out, especially because I missed the Rex in 2012. Looking cool!

I am buying the biggest set they will release in this theme!!

I thought the 2012 Dinos were pretty good from the sculpt to the painting, and the theme was a sneaky Jurassic-styled test theme anyway. Smart move to use them again.

Definitely looking forward to this theme. I expect the sets will resemble those of 2012, not just the Dinos but the designs may be similar too, ie a car/jeep, a base etc.
Not a bad thing as I really like the Dino sets :)

I'll probably pick some of these sets up if the vehicles are any good.
Also it depends on what kind of dinosaur they cooked up in that lab XD

That T-Rex has so much character in his furrowed brow I'm glad to see him again.

Looks very promising ^^ The mosquito trapped inside amber being represented by a Monster Fighters moonstone is a very nice touch :D

By in Taiwan,

Promising definitely. Hope that we can see a more different Dino.

I hope people are referring to the 'Dino' theme of 2012, rather than 'Dino 2010' theme of 2005 or sometime around then. The more recent theme actually looked pretty interesting, especially for the foliage, Dino sculpts and vehicle designs. Notice that even on this image the genetic 'saur doesn't make an appearance as the Beef Thief mentions. That's being kept pretty secret so far. I also like the fact that the Chris Pratt minifig is more or less the same as Star Lord, albeit with a slightly altered outfit print

Now, if only we knew the set names and numbers.

I like how the base / cars aren't yellow but I hope they don't come off as LEGO City Jurassic Police.

I can see this theme to fail. The Dino sets were already quite pricy because of the huge molds, now it will doublethe price because licence.... Ugh....
I would love to get just the dinos even if they look more like playmobil.

By in Hungary,

Why would the dinos be disappointing, if they have familiar molds? If they are the same species, that is expected. Minifigs have the same mold for decades and everyone is happy with it.

I don't know, I guess I was hoping for something different. A reiteration that introduces improvements, much like the 2012 versions did compared to the Dino 2010 (2005) sets, which looking back at now are awful.

LEGO can't make new molds every Dino theme. The last molds were heat so they reuse them. It's smart to me. We don't need new molds bringing the cost up even more.

LEGO needs to figure out how to make creatures more interchangeable, as they have done with minifigs. Imagine a whole series of dinosaurs and animals where you could pull the head off a t-Rex and put it on the neck of a zebra, for example. That would go over amazingly well with the kiddies.

I really loved the Dino theme from 2012 - looking forward to these! Forgive me if this has already been asked, but do we know if there will be any sets from the earlier films, or just the new one?

Saving for 2015 LEGOS and a couple o Videogames (Batman Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, Xenoblade WiiU, Star Wars Battlefront).

Looking great so far!!! Still crossing my fingers that we'll see some sets from the original three films at some point.

So, uhmmm... This is just 2012's Dino but licensed? :P
I agree with you, Huw.

I'm a bit disappointed.

As a dino and lego fan, I was hoping that the dino's would be build out of blocks, not a pre-cast. Feels like a missed opportunity.
