Two new 2015 sets uncovered

Valentine's Day Dinner

Valentine's Day Dinner

Two more 2015 sets have been uncovered today: 60070 Water Plane Chase is another City Swamp Police set. It may be a Walmart exclusive in the USA. It has been purchased at Walmart.com and reviewed by The Brick Show on YouTube.

But far more interesting than that is 40120, which I've called Marriage Proposal for now. It's obviously going to be released in good time for Valentine's Day. It features a couple having a romantic meal of cupcakes washed down with wine. The man has given the woman the One Ring which is large enough to be a bracelet; probably just as well given she has no fingers :)

What's also interesting about it is that it appears to include 'alcohol in a present day situation' which is on the list of verboten subjects for LEGO models (as listed in the rules of our Christmas competition and at LEGO ideas). It could be sparkling water or something of course, but I think most people would assume it to be Champagne or similar.

Thanks to Bert/Brick builder for finding it.

Has anyone else noticed the poor building in official pics? I mean, if you look close the male fig's head isn't even on all the way, and the flowers look like they are not fully connected to the 1x1 round plate because the window is in the way. And if I were the man proposing I think I would have shaved :P

By in Belgium,

Is that a new piece used for the wall lampshades?

By in United States,

The lampshade parts are fez parts, I have a lot of them, not in that color though.

This does seem a little hypocritical to have the wine bottle and glasses. I just got an Ideas project turned down because it included the wine bottles...

^ Good point, I'll mention that in the post.

By in Poland,

Maybe the head isn't connected absolutely because he wants to show, that "I lost my head for you" :)
By the way - I wonder if this set is forerun that in 2015 we get seasonal vignettes

@ talos

But waiter in CMF has wine bottle...

By in United States,

Definitely getting that pictured set. I hope it's not some freebie , but an actual available set.

The scruffy, unshaven slob looks out of place in the fancy restaurant.

By in United States,

Didn't the parisian restaurant have a champagne bottle for the happy couple?

I thought the box for the ring in Marriage Proposal was a new mold.. ugh my eyes!

By in United States,

That's actually a really nice looking little set. A very nice detailed background and a good setting overall. It feels very packed and rich. I like it!

"The man has given the woman the One Ring"

Best gift ever.

Like 60070. Helicopter consist of usual lego parts completely so many possibilities for an alternative buildings. Good gift for a child.

By in United States,

some of the Pirates of the Caribbean sets had rum bottles.....

on another note, one of my friends wedding ring is the One Ring.

By in United States,

Gah - again w/the alcohol is forbidden...

It IS in the context mentioned. How much data do you need that a TLG set and a fan set on their website server are NOT 100% the same ruleset?

By in United States,

Lets hope that the holiday sets this year include mini figs and are situations like the 2013 sets were.

By in Sweden,

In this years city calender in day 19. It's a turkey with a GREEN bottle and two (wine) glasses. Thats's more wine like (city theme is for younger kids). In this proposal set the bottle look more like a flower vase with a one stem flower in it.

By in Australia,

Is it *that* romantic, though, to give someone the One Ring as a gift?

Maybe he wants her to run it to Mount Doom for him, or something?

Marriage Proposal looks interesting, and as you said, Huw, very likely to be the 2015 Valentine Set. :-)

Water-Plane Chase looks interesting, too. Will probably add this to my collection if it is not a US Walmart exclusive. Bit hard to find a Walmart this side of the pond, eh? :-P

"The one Ring of Sauron is going to be mine."-Emperor Palpatine (he is in the business of invading other places for powerful relics).

LEGO company is just a normal company full of lies and BS. I'm organizing my LEGO and the amount guns LEGO has made is insane. But they are "family friendly".

What's the problem with alcohol anyway? It is part of life and it's not illegal. Beside killing is allowed, alcohol is not. :S

By in United Kingdom,

I wish they would start using some different heads, maybe some from the collectable minifig line, I'm sick of that male face with stubble,

@The Green Brick Giant

They talk out of both sides of their mouth a lot, for sure. When AFOLs want to be heard, Legos are "just a kids toy"; but when there's free market research and design to be had, they love their life-long fans. The life-long fans who buy $400 Super Star Destroyers, because we know who that's really for.

Neat little set that I hope won't be too difficult to get hold of.

People need to get over the LEGO/alcohol thing... it's a toy, and the items represent whatever the user deems. Since these are for kids, I say it's sparkling cider or ginger-ale, or maybe Sarsaparilla or rootbeer or Shirley Temples. Quit thinking like adults, and think like kids.

And yeah, LEGO can do whatever they want because it's their company and their product.... so what, that is their right. We'll still buy the stuff if it tugs at our heartstrings hard enough.

This looks like a cool set! Will definitely have to pick it up!

By in United Kingdom,

Wait! He's giving her the One Ring because he can't stand the sight of her and wants to drive her mad? Yup, sounds like many marriages. :~P

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Maybe he's giving her the One Ring so she'll disappear? Could also explain why he's drinking so much.

I hate Valentine's Day and all the commercial nonsense that goes with it but I do like this set. Simple yet effective at telling a story.

By in Germany,

60070 Water Plane Chase is not exclusive to Walmart in the US. The German consumer catalogue I picked up at Toys'R'Us a few days ago has additional pages on which it is also mentioned – together with 70756 Dojo Showdown, 42041 Race Truck, 75086 Battle Droid Troop Carrier and 71006 The Simpsons House. The pages have a note saying "This product will only be available at selected retailers such as Toys'R'Us."

@Figura: Thank you for sharing this bit of info! Looks like 60070 will be added to my collection after all! :-D

By in Australia,

I think the 'exclusive to Walmart' on 60070 applies to the US only. In other countries (that don't have Walmart), it's probably exclusive to another select retailer (e.g. TRU in Germany), rather than not being available at all (other than via LEGO LEGO.com/LEGO B & M stores).

The 'Marriage Proposal' set looks great, but I fear hard to come by here in Aus, where we don't have B&M LEGO stores, and the LEGO.com free shipping threshhold is a heart-stopping $200.00 (or a $35.00(!) shipping fee). Last year I was lucky enough to be in the US when 'Valentine' Bear and 'Easter' Bunny were released, so could pick them up at a B&M store, but no such luck/plans for 2015...

The official name of this set is Valentine's Day Dinner, and it will be available in LBR stores in January.
