Piano Reaches 10,000

Posted by ,

With less than a week before the review deadline, Piano, one of the oldest projects on Ideas has reached 10,000.

Piano's creator, Hidaka, is not only one of the earliest adopters of the Cuusoo platform but also pioneered several methods for promoting projects. It is great to see their efforts pay out.

I have always liked this project for its quality and originality. A minifig scale piano definitely stands out from the car, mecha, spaceship, and IP projects that proliferate on Ideas. Not to mention, I think the last time LEGO made a piano was 1973. (If you know of another official LEGO piano feel free to note it in the comments.)

By in Netherlands,

there's a piano in the Simpsons house. Can't think of any other piano produced in a set.

There's a piano/organ in the captain's cabin of the Imperial Flagship.

Well, there was an organ in 10210, but that's all I can think of.

Unfortunately, I don't see this piano going anywhere: It's too big to put in a set, but too small to be its own. And it's got little by way of playability, so it'd only be a display piece...

I hope this one makes it. I've always wanted a LEGO piano.

Andrea's Stage (3932) from 2012 includes a piano.

This and the labyrinth were the first two ideas I supported on CUUSOO. I'd really like to see it pass.

About time! I think LEGO will look favourably on it.

Flying Dutchman might make it to 10,000 before the next deadline too. Looks like the second set of female minifigures, Science Adventures from Alatariel, might be bit too far away to make it in the next 5 days, but we'll see.

If LEGO Ideas made a set of birds even with the Creator ones having birds I don't see why this wouldn't be in the running.

Set 70812 Creative Ambush (from this year!) also contains a small piano.

I love this! Hope it gets made. There is a tiny synthesizer piano in the city advent calendar from 2010 (2824), nothing compared to this though!

I think it might work better at a larger scale, like a UCS type of thing. Otherwise it may as well be included as part of another set. I can see the scale being defined by using a few of these for the inside curve: http://brickset.com/parts/4116854

Aw, it's nice to see this one finally make it. I always had a soft spot for it. Although the glacial pace of its support doesn't bode well for its chances at review, it's a nice little set that's right in line with the type of projects Ideas seems to prioritize.

I also appreciate that Hidaka regularly updated the main image, something creators often overlook, especially once their support slows a bit.

Ideas is blocked at work, so I can't tell if the final project still included the Mozart minifig, which I thought was a neat touch. Hidaka also has an excellent pipe organ project, which did/does include a Bach minifig. I actually like the pipe organ a bit better than the piano, though I don't suspect it'll make it to 10,000 in time.

I think he means more like a stand alone kind of thing, like as a set of it's own, not just a mini one crammed in a set.

This could be put onto a display stand, with a minifigure and a few other instruments in a brick-built display case? I may be going a bit over-enthusiastic here though. :-P

But, seriously, I'd like to see this pass. It may be the first LEGO Ideas set I buy - though I doubt it, but nevertheless, it would be nice to see it on shelves. :-)

Right on! It's a beautiful creation would love to see it pass and a mini fig included like mentioned above.

Plus LEGO will only make about 1,000 of it and it will sell out within 1-2 hours, so it doesn't matter if it doesn't "ft" into anything we think.

(If only I were joking.)

By in Malaysia,

I tried making this based on the instructional video the creator put on Youtube, and the finished build is so incredibly fragile that bits fall off with the slightest attempt at movement. Made one for a friend of mine for her birthday and it fell apart in the box, even though I used Blu-Tak to hold it down. It's the kind of set you'll have to place on a shelf in a glass case and never ever touch.

If Lego does end up making it, they'll have lots of improvements to make, just to keep the pieces from falling apart.

Oh I totally forgot this existed, congrats to the creator! I think this'll pass because it's a nice, small set.

There was also an organ included in one of the towers of 9468 Vampyre castle from the Monster Fighter series.

Great! I supported this ages ago. Great news that it made the 10k!

Great news that an original poster got there finally.

It a nice set, but too niche. I can't see Lego green-lighting it. Would it sell menay? I doubt it.

But congratulations due, of course.

^ what the hell is "menay"?! And I haven't even been drinking.....

Furniture is one area Lego should move into to improve it's City and Creator lines. It will help for fans who ignore the latest police/fire/hospital buildings direly released every year.

I'd get it if it had s cool classical figure. Otherwise, easy pass. Granted I don't I'll get birds either since I didn't plan on ordering anything until double points in March.

Since there's 3 different color variations, this would be a really neat set to see as $6-9 Polybags with each color to different regions. White- Europe/Asia, Brown- North America, Black- Australia/New Zealand or something along those lines.
