Heartlake Grand Hotel

Heartlake Grand Hotel

Jason has now provided us with images of the Friends boxes. The hotel looks great, but I'm not sure I like the look of the the 'pop star' sets. The appeal of Friends sets for many, including me, is the bright and pastel colours but they've been eschewed in preference for black and dark pink in them.

Wow the kiosk and skate park are awesome. The hotel is probably a $130 set, I was hoping for $100.

I agree with you, way too much black. Very off putting. And it's funny because the jet has almost no black.

Inverted 2x2 tan slopes on the Tourist Kiosk. Way to go Emma!

And the hotel is a nirvana of new parts.

Something a bit 'Grand Budapest' about that hotel.

I would love all the music related sets if they were done not in Friends style.

jaitheartist - y'know, if you buy, them, replace the minidolls with minifigs from your existing collection, they suddenly become "not-friends" sets.

Are those clear "apollo" studs in the kiosk set??? And tan column detail plates??? I might buy many multiples of that set... o.O

By in United Kingdom,

Love the new hotel.
But as always, at least 2 are required to make it into a "real" building.
I hate open backed buildings.
Great if the glass is painted. If stickers are required this would be bad.

I do not mind the new black parts in these sets. Rock stars love the colour black.
Dark blue would also have worked.
However some pastel blue could have been used in one or two sets, instead of the dark pink.

Yeah, Lego will be getting more of our money this year...

Not gonna lie, that tour bus is rad. Also bitchin'.

Grand Hotel and Pop Star Tour Bus look OK. Really not sure about the other ones, though.

By in Belgium,

I think some of these look ridiculous, but then that's when I remember they're targeted at kids and not me :)

I think if you are someone who only buys and plays with friends sets, then you may welcome some black coloured pieces to your collection.

I'm must be wrong but sitting here at my desk looking at these images I could swear I've seen 41103 and 41105 on the selves a couple weeks ago. Do we know what month they are expected to be released?

I like the Dressing Room, if only because it has the Ariel hair in pink and blue, as well as a few sparkly textiles. Otherwise, the pop star sets are meh. The hotel looks good. though. I also noticed the ornamental scroll on Emma's kiosk as well as the hotel.

Livi - Bit of a Hannah Montanna rip off?!

Hotel is pretty amazing for a friends set!

I am not sure what is wrong with black. I like it. I am not a fan of the pop star sub-theme, but I really like the bus, and my girls really like Livi. The Hotel is by far my favorite.

I like the pop star sets. The colors and general atmosphere help them feel very unique, much like last year's jungle animal rescue sets. The tour bus is definitely outstanding. Not the most realistic for a tour bus since it offers zero privacy, but it's suitably flashy and I love the way it extends — an extremely unique function! And the boxes are very awesome from a graphic design standpoint, blending a bit of red and yellow with the usual purple.

The other sets are also interesting. The skate park is nothing exceptional build-wise but does offer some new activities for the LEGO Friends to engage in. The tourist kiosk is cute and seems to use some new parts on the accessories rack if I'm not mistaken. And needless to say, the hotel is phenomenal! I guess we weren't able to get a clear box pic of the private jet?

Aanchir is right I also like new colorsheme. Studio is tempting, but I really want hotel!

By in United States,

Hey, wait a minute... that tour bus is an EXACT replica of Wyldstyle's color scheme! But yeah, those sets are pretty bland minus the hotel, which is awesome. I don't know if $160 regular sets in City, Star Wars, and Friends is a good thing or not...

By in United States,

What I don't get with the private jet, why is their security? Are you going to bomb your own private jet? Doesn't make sense.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huh, if we were judging by the hotel set, I'd say men are only allowed in Heartlake to serve the women. Poor Nate...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I adore that hotel.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Some of you said you don't like the black and pink but my 2 girls (6 and 9) love anything black and pink. They really like the bus.

Huw we are missing Mixel photos! Just so you know

I'd love to see some of the concept sketches for the pop star stuff, like the ones for the monster fighter theme that showed the original concept was inspired by Scooby Doo - I just can't help but think that Livi was somehow inspired by Katy Perry and it's be interesting to see if there were other pop stars considered for the line.

By in Switzerland,

What about the Limo set? Strange it was still not presented. Maybe they cancelled it?

Gravatar
By in United States,

These Pop Star sets look so much like Jem and the Holograms. I think my wife might actually like them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Limo is probably a store exclusive and not shown.

> Livi was somehow inspired by Katy Perry
Not Ariel, huh? I assume LEGO spent more time on Elves this year so Livi is not allowed to own a really orignial look.

The hotel is great as predicted. As for the rest of regular sets, the skate place idea is great and would be a good scene for CMF collectors to use.

As for the popstar series, I can see it's both inspiring and attractive to young girls. However I don't think the dressing room is useful enough for town MOC FOLs. Among them, the tour bus is the best one for me.

I also wonder if this could mean a future licensed theme featuring an idol. Most licensed themes are actually the counterparts to LEGO's own original action themes, while the rest are cartoon and anime franchises. If this works, some other Disney's original drama like Hannah Montanna could get LEGO sets too?

Offtopic, it's abit ironic that Livi isn't the actual first LEGO postar character, but Gwen Tweenbangle. However her theme doesn't allow her to own at least a small stage to perform.

^Though no Disney Channel show in the US would work other than Austin and Ally, though it's in its last season.

Gravatar
By in Taiwan,

I feel like something is missing, and I find out that there are no other sidekicks in Livi's tour? The possible upcoming cartoon story is enough for us to know how the main Friends befriend with Livi, but we don't really have to see all of them in physical popstar sets. The lack of manager or supervisor makes it abit unrealistic.

> Private jet
Good. Jacob is nelected again.

By in United States,

I don't know if they've done this already but I like how they used the concept of the Snowtrooper skirt to make minidoll skirts. It's little things like that that make me enjoy LEGO. Someone is always coming up with new ideas.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Livi is odd, since her name is so similar to Olivia.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, the hotel is suitably grand, if only it didn't have so many pink parts. =l

Gravatar
By in United States,

The hotel has about 5 pink parts (car seat), the rest are purple.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Fabulous hotel. I don't like the pop stars theme and really dislike the black/pink combination. I predict it will be flop - the great thing about Friends are the colours - I just don't think fans (especially little girls) will like the black. Will be interesting to watch.

By in United Kingdom,

Those clear round bits can't be polo / apollo plates because the centre hole is all wrong. In the kiosk set, things like bows and sunglasses are pushed into them, which is a much smaller pin-sized hole than the normal bar-sized hole in a hollow stud or clip-plate. They look like some sort of 1x1 round plate with a very narrow neck, specifically for holding Friends pin-on accessories.

By in New Zealand,

Why has no one mentioned the useful new arched window tops?

4 in the hotel. Gonna be handy even just in tan...
