The minifig on the cover of the updated Star Wars Character Encyclopedia is...
Posted by Huw,
It's just been revealed over at StarWars.com that the exclusive minifig on the cover of the DK book Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded, due out at the beginning of May is...
A white attired Boba Fett wearing his prototype armour. The minifig is based on Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for the character, where he originally wore entirely white Mandalorian armour.
The first version, sw275, produced in 2010, commands a ridiculous price on BrickLink so I guess prices will plummet given this one is superior in every way.
There are more pictures at StarWars.com.

An elegant minifigure, for a more civilized age.
Now they need to redo the anniversary chrome Darth Vader. :P
Looks nice; on par with the other similar exclusive minifigures. Good thing I can buy these for my kids! Hope the price drops about $4 more.
Mmmmmmm yes, better than the 'classic' Luke Skywalker from last year
Is it just me, or is that version better than the one in the movies? It looks a lot classier, like a Stormtrooper. I know that's why they didn't use it, since it doesn't match his character, but I definitely like that figure!
Hm, I'd feel a bit like I'm cheating spending my Christmas book token on this...
Stick me down for one of these!
My grandmother has 3-4 Chrome Vadors that she lost.
This is much better than some of the ones we have been getting.
Wow, wasn't expecting that. Very nice figure.
Just pre-ordered my copy of the book!
Although this minifigure surpasses the original white Boba from 2010, I don't think the earlier one will lose any aftermarket value, just as the original Cloud City Boba still commands a high value even though the new Boba with UCS Slave 1 excels in every way.
Wow, amazing
@8BrickMario It's funny, because Boba Fett was originally intended to be an upgraded Stormtrooper design, so that's why this version looks more like a Stormtrooper. :P
This is an A+ design. I really love that printing.
That's great! The printing is detailed but not to the point that it's completely unrecognizable (cough Sandcrawler Luke cough) and the figure itself is just awesome. I want 2.
While the price will drop I honestly wouldn't expect it to go down too much. Don't get me wrong this figure looks great but to me the last one feels more vintage because it uses the older original mold lego used to represent the prototype armor.
Awesome have to get this since I'm a HUGE fan of Boba fett and Ralph McQuarrie.
so yeah got to get this.
Wow that looks really good!
Oooooooooooh, neat. I'll have to pick this fig up somehow, whether with the book or not. I don't really care :)
Man...just when I thought I was going to spend LESS money on everyone's favorite ABS interlocking building blocks this year. Rats.
This one is different. The other was the version in the Lucas test. This is the original concept drawings. This one has better design anyway.
Holy heck , this is just... Incredible. I need this ASAP. The printing is just so amazing. Between this and jek-14 being a concept Stormtrooper , all I need now is for them to release vader and the snow trooper.
This looks GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! I know I repeating what others are saying, but it's just true. Amazing!
Awesome figure! I don't have a White Boba Fett so this is great news. I'm definitely in for the book.
It's The Stig's Mandalorian cousin!!!
It seems DK got the message that the 'classic Luke' was a cop out, jolly good. I'd definitely take this version over the old polybag version any day of the week.
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Well that is an instant purchase for sure
COOL!
Wasn't gonna bother.
But now!
Gotta get one!
Sweeet.
But does he come w/the alternative helmet design?
That's a pretty rad mini fig, might have to get the book just for that.
Yes, but what about the price on the Maersk blue Boba Fett? Those will probably stay the same.
yes i can get a white proto type boba fett and this will probaly be raised up (the price)
tAHNK YOU
Got my book pre-ordered from amazon. Cant see what the fuss is about the minifig though.
