I'm loving the fact that we get Santas Little Helper too! I'm even more excited about these than the first series!
Ehhh....
The Slushie is neat everything else is just "ehh" mainly because the heads are too damn big.
They are all very detailed minifigures indeed. But I don't remember Marge wearing an orange Sunday dress before. And I'm not sure about the release of a posthumous character...
Great to see the new squishee mould will be available in a CMF, not just in the Kwik-E-Mart. So many of these parts, heads aside, will be mega useful in any MOC .
What about Moe, Carl and Lenny?
I love the Malibu Stacy (with new hat!) accessory that Smithers is carrying. It looks to be another great series.
So that leaves us with Principal Skinner, Lenny, Carl and Moe conspicuously absent. Obviously the association with alcohol that come with Moe means we probably won't see him, but I am sure the rest will turn up in a future series.
This looks GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
The big heads don't bother me in general; I really like the look of most of these. Comic Book Guy looks terrible with a normal torso and his gut just printed though. Homer sort of has the same problem, but it's much worse on CBG. Worst. Figure. Ever.
They all look awesome..
CapnRex I'm hoping that Lenny, Carl and Moe are missing because they're being saved for a very alcohol related set...
The Simpsons, Series 2 is great! Thank god Comic Book Guy is not a San Diego Comic Con exclusive!
Next year I hope to see Radioactive Man and Biclops.
I didn't really care for the first series, but now I have to get myself a Dr. Frink and Groundskeeper Willie. Shame about Comic Book Guy not having a belly accessory, or he would be a must-have, too.
I don't have much interest in this series other than for parts (and probably won't be getting any of them for myself), but I don't mind the decision to use molded heads. The screenshots I've seen of the LEGO episode "Brick Like Me" just make it obvious to me why classic cylindrical heads just wouldn't work for representing the characters' distinctive faces.
I understand why that episode opted for cylindrical printed heads instead of molded ones, of course... having to animate those 3D molded heads throughout the episode would have undercut the "everything's made of LEGO" gag and made it a lot more work to achieve more cartoony facial expressions.
Anyway, it's not as if the molded heads are a huge limitation on customization potential, considering the show's design language would have basically limited these characters' faces to Simpsons characters and MOCs even if they were printed on classic head pieces.
Great to see more color variety in the two-tone arms and legs, as well as lots of nice, versatile outfits and accessories. Nothing stands out as a "must-have" for me but I'm sure many of these parts will see lots of use.
Finally, a sling shot mold! There have been a ton of times where a sling shot has been printed on the torso, but it'll be nice to have it as an actual item to hold!
OMG. These may be even better than the first Simpsons series!
I'm not sure why they'd rehash the main Simpsons family (besides the fact it's easy money). Besides Bart and Milhouse, I don't think they re-did the characters from series 1 in a way worth getting (Marge, Homer, Lisa, and Maggie aren't wearing a very iconic alternative outfit. Homer had a million odd jobs, it would have been cool to see him in something like his Mr.Plow uni.)
I'm most excited to get Willy and Frink. Not having Skinner is a very confusing omission. And yes, Carl, Lenny, and Moe, I think, are bigger characters than the twins or Moleman. I'm happy to see MM, but I'm confused by some of these choices. I wish they did all new characters for series 2 (of course I will buy all of these, cept maybe some of the family). Hopefully they'll do a series 3. I'd kill for a Duffman!
@ORC: Presumably having new versions of the main family is to help them get their money's worth out of the head molds. You don't design sixteen new specialized head molds for a series without plans to reuse some of them. And of course, they are the most recognizable and well-known characters, which is the same reason why you usually get new versions of main characters in character encyclopedias and visual dictionaries rather than obscure minor characters.
As for why they chose these particular costumes, I wouldn't know.
@Aanchir I'm always hesitant to accept the "molds are expensive" explanation. I'd be more willing to believe it's an issue of character/brand recognition. CMF packs generally have about 7-8 figs on the front, right? Imagine if not only none of the main cast was there, but it was Patty & Selma, Martin, Hans Moleman, Mrs. Krabappel, Prof Frink and Dr. Hibbert. Casual viewers might not even know these characters and pass on the purchase.
As for the figs themselves, I'm always happy to see more Simpsons characters, like the heads a lot more than standard heads, but would like to have seen something different for the family. Bartman is okay I guess, but church clothes? Booooooring.
As always, I get a kick out of the accessories. The Gordie Howe picture might be the best of the entire Simpsons CMF line.
A LEGO slingshot?! I never thought we'd see the day.
Worst. LEGO Theme. EVER.
But this series looks much better than the first series, I'm guessing because of the different head proportions of many of these characters compared to the first series characters, or something? Or maybe just a better render/angle, I don't know.
I want a lot of these torsos, though.
A slingshot finally! Getting Bart so I can finally outfit Nori with his weapon of choice!
Oh nooooo. Does that mean the new collectible series 14 will not be released soon. what a shame for someone who does not like Simpsons
