LEGO Angry Birds revealed

Not for me, but I may need a couple of the new sails depending on how they look in person.

The Destruction Of Pig City looks like a lot of fun. Otherwise... the castle and boat are the only sets with any substance.

I was very excited for these, but they look absolutely rubbish. I might order the figures, but I'll probably build them myself to look like the cartoon versions.

So much for what I thought would be a brilliant theme. It's Galidor in the shape of System sets. I'm now an official LEGO Angry Birds The Movie hater.

Bah humbug to all you dislikers--I think this is great fun! Elements of steampunk, especially in the ship, and some very creative building. I look forward to finding out more about these sets as larger photos become available!

Wow, these look like absolute rubbish to me (except for the Castle). Awful, especially with Nexo Knights to top it off.

Dear oh dear,
Could there possibly be more wasted talent or (I imagine) cost for TLC? Nice looking castle until you realise it's connected with this Utter trash - Lego should lead the way with their own ideas, worlds and models, and stop paying/buying into these licences (scooby do and all the super heroes, we're also looking at you).

Most of these sets come with a catapult but the structures look too substantial to be destroyed by them.

Instead of buying all those licenses. I think Lego should make a nostalgia theme every year, with 5-10 sets rereleased from the period 1970 - 2000. Me wishing of cause.

These are no where near as bad as I thought they would be, although, the minifigures still look very odd to me. In fact, I much prefer the Angry Birds castle to the Nexo Knights one!

I'm hoping for the best for both the sets and the movie!

So Angry Birds gets a better castle than Nexo Knights, interesting.

This theme isn't necessarily bad, but it is crazy! The castle actually looks pretty well designed, but the 'ship' is hideous. I've got to admit I was hoping for more obviously destructible models and rubber band-based catapults, but at least there's some decent elements in there

Wow, so many daft, bitter comments in this thread. I don't give a flying feather about Angry Birds and have no clue if the movie will be any good, but I think these sets look really fun and charming, and I hope they're successful. It's too bad there are so many people with too much hate in their hearts to think rationally, and who can't even put together any halfway coherent criticism. "It's Galidor in the shape of System sets." Are you even hearing yourselves? What is that even supposed to MEAN?

I'm also a bit disappointed just to be getting catapults instead of slingshots, and that there's not as much destructive potential as in the games, but there are some really fun-looking play features and I love the build of the "slingshot-catapult" in the castle set. It's clear some designers put a lot of thought and effort into these sets and I have my fingers crossed that it'll pay off for them. The creativity and complexity of these sets far exceed my expectations, and I wasn't even one of the people who wrote the theme off as a lost cause before we even had any details.

It makes sense that these are purely from the upcoming movie and in no way functional like the phone games. I guess if you're going to make an Angry Birds theme concurrent with a movie that's the way to go.

As far as licensing, this is truly scraping the bottom of the barrel. But who knows, maybe Lego will surprise me with Lego Cheetos sets or something.

I see much pain... pain and suffering, as thousands of LEGO fans weep in despair.

^^I'd rather see sets maybe based off of Wreck-It Ralph or Vehicles just like in Lego City Undercover (maybe 5-6 per set for those under 60 total pieces, 3-4 for the medium ones, and 2 for the large ones).

This sets will sell well- I can already tell! And I agree With Aanchir - Lego did great job on this licence. But SHame that we get no more Scooby sets.

This castle and the Medivals mixels sets seems like the only love castle fans are getting from LEGO this year. Cool parts in the ship, the kids will love throwing the birds at things. What's not to love?

Well, I am happy to see that Lego got me wrong. The sets are beautiful and seem to be full of fun. It look like I could have a good time playing it with my daughter.

For those not liking the sets, let me reassure you, there are plenty other themes for you...

Not for me but I can see the appeal. But are we hitting a LEGO saturation point? I half expect these models to be dropped six weeks after they are officially released, to be replaced by new sets.

"bitter comments", "The sense of entitlement is utterly sickening" You know this is a AFOL site and people are just commenting on what they think of the sets which is valid. When they see them in the shop they wont go up to the boxes and punch them they will just walk past them and head to a theme they do like. You are calling you follow AFOLs bitter and sickening just for giving there opinion!

Anyway I have a nice Lego cartoon collection so will probably just get the castle as it look good and the eagle looks the most interesting of all the figures. The parts will be useful and I am counting on picking it up at a good discount.

"See, not as bad as you all thought, right?" No, actually, they're about as bad as I thought they'd be. The castle's not too terrible, but like seemingly every second batch of Lego sets from licensed properties, I expect them to not sell, and be clearanced out within a month or so.

I really don't dislike them that much. I like them better then Nexo knights and most CHIMA sets...

Isn't it always interesting to see design that have a balance between functionality, playability and looks (+rare parts!)??

Gotta agree with @thehornedrat on this one. I had no expectation of being interested in this theme as, although I did enjoy the Angry Birds games for a while, I lost interest years ago. But I am not the target market as an AFOL - the sets are aimed at kids, who I'm sure will love this theme. I think a lot of people are forgetting that LEGO is a toy and kids are, for the most part, the target audience.

Having said that though, I absolutely LOVE that castle. FAR better than the Nexo Knights effort, for me at least...

LEGO did try hard to compromise between brick figures and actual looks. Oviously they won't got with the size of normal LEGO birds. The variety of pigs are very nice and close to the original AB ones.

Not surprised to not see all main birds (five posable figures costs alot already). Hopefully this franchise is successful enough for LEGO to do all the main flock.

The sets do all look fun. I would just wish that the treehouse set could be abit bigger. The castle and ship both look quite creative

I can see my kids getting a lot of play value out of these sets. When I showed my 7 year old the pictures. . . he was very excited! Clearly that is the intended market.

I don't care about the figs, but some of the sets look pretty nice. Probably won't grab one though, what with all the other stuff taking priority.

The red bird in particular reminds me of the 33254 Mickey Mouse. I've never played the game, but my grandson knows the characters from You Tube "toy review" videos. It looks like there are at least three "targets" on the castle set that are attached by a 2x2, so a good bit of play potential.

These look like they have some cool parts. And now we know that new egg has an anti-stud connection. And I'm quite sure the hotdog bun piece is new. :D

@Missing Brick: Considering how much amazing LEGO Ninjago fan art I've seen (like http://takamizo.tumblr.com/post/130057612337/ and http://uruart.tumblr.com/post/129580970737/) I'd say Ninjago fans know aesthetics, design, and good taste pretty darn well. Same goes for Nexo Knights fans, if some of the earliest fan art (http://erra-day.tumblr.com/post/135477246747) is any indication. Maybe it's the haters of these themes who need lessons in open-mindedness and imagination, since they clearly have a hard time appreciating a good theme when they see one!

I also find it ironic when people talk about themes like Ninjago, Chima, and Nexo Knights being aimed at "young kids". You do realize that all these themes are aimed primarily at ages 7–14 while old-school themes like City, Castle, and Pirates are aimed primarily at ages 5–12, right? How is it that themes for five-year-olds are somehow perfectly acceptable for AFOLs to enjoy but themes aimed at seven-year-olds are somehow too childish? Seems pretty backwards to me.

I've tried to enlarge the image to have another look, but I must say I don't really see any comparisons that could be made between this theme and TLG's system themes. The system themes are not constrained by licensed content leaving some great creativity - and I really want to get my hands in some Nexo Knights, which is unusual because 90% of my Lego budget is usually Star Wars.

Back to the matter at hand though, I'm glad to see so many unusual or oddly coloured elements upon closer inspection. The foliage pieces and the dragster (or bike) look quite interesting as a starter for 10. Unfortunately I still don't like the rigidity of the ship, but that's probably because I'm narrow minded and can only visualise them as normal Lego pirate ships!

Well, at least it's better than that Nexo Knights crapola...

As a castle fan, I'm a lot more excited about these sets than the Nexo Knights stuff.

Well, recommended prices in our catalogue are really frightening. Lego becomes a rich child's toy again...

Not remotely an Angry Birds person - however, love ships. So will have a look at that more closely once released.
