CMF Series 16 in the shops already

Posted by ,

They are not due for release until September but it seems some brand stores in the USA are selling series 16 collectable minifigures already.

Apparently, their early appearance is so that the Disney series can be resurrected to coincide with the release of the Disney Castle.

Find out more in the forum. Thanks to cm4sci for the news.

By in Australia,

The CMF releases this year have been a bit of a mess. Production of Disney down in order to also push out the exclusive DBF series in the same month, and no communication with the distribution of The Disney Castle to ensure that Disney CMF will be available to compliment the release.

I know production capacity has been maxed out this year, but it's really been a scramble to secure stock within a week of it selling out which has disappointed so many people.

Let's hope we'll get better pictures of the minifigures in this series now. :P

How did we not know about these?

Oh my god is that finally a Terrier mould with the dog show judge?! YES!!

"...the Disney series can be resurrected to coincide with the release of the Disney Castle..."

In other words, the Disney CMFs are not as popular as Disney hopes and are lying on the shelves in alarmingly (for them) high quantities?

My first reaction: ?!

But on a more serious note, this is TOO early! Even WhiteFang's review isnt out yet! But i cant say im not excited! =P

While reading that TLG is doing this to rush the second Disney series, well im not really surprised..but i do feel that it would be better if they laid it off for a while for this current series (is it series 16? I had lost count =P) to run its course.

@Omega X: What Second Series of Disney? They're just bringing back the first one to coincide with the castle's release as far as I can tell from the article.

I am not a fan of this move, I'm not ready to drop another 100$ on Series 16 right now, and considering that most stores in the area still have Series 15 and the Disney CMF in large quantities I have no idea if 16 will even be available in Canada during this early release/drop. Is it really happening at The LEGO Store?

Seriously I'm also thinking CMF Fatigue is going to set in with this kind of release schedule, and why push Disney during the Disney Castle? With the first batch already being made available for quite a long time most families who wanted their 18 figures will already have gotten them. They'll just be stuck with more product on the shelves that aren't moving. Really odd decision on LEGO's part here.

An additional source of baby heads! Brilliant.

I can barely find any of the Disney figures now. I have about 10 of them and 10 duplicates so far. They have been selling pretty good.

I talked to a staff member at the Lego store about the Disney mjnifigs, and she said they were backordered for the stores since the factories couldn't make enough. She told me they were going to be rereleased with series 16.

I'm glad LEGO is smart enough to make more Disney ones, they are fantastic and everyone should have a chance at finding them.

It's interesting to hear about the mass shortage of these Disney minifigures because my local Wal-Mart got a case and sold out in the first three weeks then got another case and they have been sitting there almost untouched for the past two-three months.

My Walmart is very frustrating when it comes to CMFs. They only had the Disney box for maybe one or two weeks and then it just disappeared. Two months later it's back and there are only maybe eight packets left. I returned a week after that and once again the box was gone. Only ever had the chance to get 4 minifigures because of this.

Also it's very common for them to never get a series at all. I think the series is selling very well because it appeals to fans of Disney and LEGO.

Great! I'd like some of these, the hunt begins again :D

I found an entire box today at my local Toys R Us, on the shelves, but they wouldn't sell them because they were street dated for tomorrow. It was painful to have a bunch in my basket and being told that I couldn't buy them.

This comment is dedicated to all the people who panicked about getting a set of Disbey CMFs, and caused a shortage and headaches for everyone else.

Great news!
I finally found more Series 15 at Kmart in NC and WV. It has been months since I've seen them in Columbus, OH. Picked up just enough to feel like I've got all I need.
Can't wait to start tracking down Series 16. I'll take as many mariachi guys and dog show judges as I can get my hands on.

I have received word from a LEGO store that they should be arriving around the country the week of the 18th. They moved it up to help cover the gap made by the very quick sales of all the Disney ones and the second run of them due in the fall. I can't wait for them, especially the infant and penguin.

The little penguin looks exactly like Pingu :D

Wow, just like CMF15! They'll distribute a fixed number of boxes to retailers, sell them till they're gone in a small period of time w/no intent of restocking and leave many Lego fans to the fates of the secondary market. Told you Disney was going to ruin Lego.

It's great to see a color LEGO has never used before.......

By in Mexico,

Wow!! I definitely love them!! To be honest I didn't find anything exciting about the Disney series, thank God the series 16 just brought me back the thrill!!

By in United Kingdom,

@balkris, I tried several chains in London/Surrey yesterday and found nothing. WHS, one of the chains I tried, usually receives marketing collateral ahead of each new CMF series but hadn't received any for S16.

According to a message sent to an AFOL in the US from TLG US, the official release date there is 1 August . My guess is that TLG will stick to its European release date of 1 September.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Zander, cheers, I tried Lego Shop in town today but they knew nothing... hoped they make it a global August release though

Gravatar
By in United States,

Found some at my local TRU, behind the counter limiting 5 per customer, and the store clerk pics them at random.. I only saw one box behind the counter.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Found a full box at my lego store in St. Louis, Missouri. See my reviews of the dog show judge, imp, banana suit guy, kickboxer, and spooky boy. (Once they're out.)

Gravatar

Toys r Us in Brookfield, WI has them on the shelf. Picked up a few today!

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Anyone seen these yet in The Bay Area? Local target is finally started selling Series 15

Gravatar
By in United States,

This kind of marketing has finally put me off LEGO. I enjoyed the CMF series but when the company short shrifts its fans just so they can pump out Disney merch. That says a lot about who they care about more.

Aside, when I did run across CMF16 at TRU, some greedy AFOL came along and emptied the display of the few they were shipped, even as some of us were standing there trying to decipher packs. Literally, she pressed us aside, picked up the dispenser and dumped it into the basket. Name-calling and cursing ensued. It made me stop and consider what LEGO really represents anymore... greed and obsession.

By in United States,

Found in Shakopee, MN at Target. Got the last 8 but returning 2 duplicates.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Found a mostly empty box of them at a Toys R Us in Atlanta, so they are out there.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I saw a full box at a local walmart. Picked a few up and got mariachi man, banana suit guy, and spooky boy :)
