The other big LEGO news of the day also comes courtesy of the North American December store calendar.

The Disney Princess theme is being rebranded as simply Disney next year, and with this change also means new types of sets. Disney is introducing a new princess next month with the animated film Moana, and the month after that you will be able to own your very own Moana set! In North America, at least - Europe and others may still need to wait until January.

The set, 41150 Moana on the High Seas, contains a Moana minidoll and demigod friend Maui as a bigfig along with a small piece of island, a chicken and a raft build. We do not know how much it will retail for, but we will let your know as soon as we do. Accompanying this set is 41149 Moana's Island Adventure; however we do not have an official (non-leaked) image for that one yet.

What do you think?

Looks interesting. Is that chicken a new part or is it just a printed piece?

I like how they opted for a brick-built version of Maui's giant fishhook rather than a molded piece. Otherwise this picture is a bit too small and blurry for me to make much of an assessment of the set.

By in Hong Kong,

So we can have the Disney villains now. Good news.

By in United Kingdom,

It makes sense for Lego to have a Disney theme.
It opens the way for hundreds of sets using the Disney legacy.

Unfortunately it seems like they are going along the Minidoll route.
Although the Bigfigs of the theme may still work with regular Minifigures?
The animals of the theme might be a boost for system Lego, unless they are too cutesy.

If my memory serves me correctly, this is the first set ever with a minidoll and a bigfig. Cool to see that development.

Looks good! The bigfig is very enticing.

I'm liking the cloth sail and foliage pieces! (At least, I assume it's a cloth sail)

Am I seeing a rooster on that raft? That would be so awesome! Like the little raft too. Especially the sail.

Flaming coconut catapult?
Might be worth the cost :)

By in Puerto Rico,

Really wish they used Minifigures instead of Minidolls for the Disney theme like they did in the CMF line.

The Moana set looks nice.

I hope Peter Pan sets are introduced. He'd translate well into a minidoll and the sets could be iconic and fun.

By in United States,

Was really looking forward to something like this, as it would have been a great way to get more non-pale flesh tone figures. The fact that it appears they are going with minidolls has, unfortunately, largely killed the excitement over this.

While I do like that there seems to be a focus on Disney as a whole, as opposed to just princesses, if they plan to make them all be mini-dolls, I really don't think I'll have any interest in these sets, which is a shame because I was really hoping for more out of the Disney Licence.

i like it, my daughters have friends, elves and disney princess sets so they'll love the fact lego kept the minidoll figures going i prefer them as they look more true to life,
also love that big fig too..

YES! Dwayne Johnson as a Lego figure!

By in Belgium,

Looks pretty cool. I'm glad they are rebranding the 'princess' thing, my son loves these sets too and I'm sure more boys would of they weren't in a pink box with 'princess' on it. So good move from TLG I think.
I also would prefer Disney minifigs but I've accepted that minidols at here to stay and some of them are really pretty decorated actually (love the queen/princess one from elves, it's beautiful).

My hopes for a 90's islanders revival are now permanently lost :-p

@ROTJ: Now that bigfig's name is set in stone for the eternity

I really wish I could read comments without the stupid whining of 'why aren't these minifigures?!' But we can't always get what we want.

The set is nice. I won't be getting it as it will be $30. But everything looks nice.
