LEGO has just published 414 new instruction manuals and 163 set inventories, which contain 458 new parts.

Among the instructions are some hitherto unknown polybags which brings the number of those in the 30xxx series set for release this year to 29.

If you have me on Facebook you'll know that I've been away for a couple of weeks in warmer climes. You wouldn't have known otherwise because CapnRex101, MeganL, DrDaveWatford, FlagsNZ, Rock99Rock and TheBrickPal have been doing an awesome job keeping you supplied with news, reviews and other excellent editorial content in my absence.

We've started the year as we mean to go on, and will continue to provide you with quality content of the type that you can only find here throughout 2017.

Belated Happy New Year!

By in Ireland,

I'm glad they named that turtle poly "Happy Turtle" otherwise I would have worried about its emotional wellbeing ;) .

By in United Kingdom,

Having looked through the parts there are quite a few new parts not shown. 1/4 round tiles, new 45 degree corner slopes and a few others...

It looks as if LEGO has published incomplete inventories again for some reason. Possibly to prevent new parts being ordered...

30338 needs to be corrected from a City set to a Juniors set in the database. Overall I'm quite impressed with the newly discovered polybags like 30377 Motor Horse, 30401 Pool Foam Slide, and 30426 Stealthy Swamp Airboat .

Wondering what 30612 Batgirl will be like. Considering that its manual has no actual building instructions, I imagine it's just a single minifigure, but is it the "standard" LEGO Batman Movie Batgirl costume or a new one? I guess we'll find out in time.

What struck me while browsing the new instructions yesterday is just how detailed the manuals for the new $5 Classic sets are. I expected some basic building instructions and maybe some alternate "inspiration" builds without instructions. What I didn't expect were short bios of the set designers and photos of real-world objects to inspire new creations in each set's core color! These are the sorts of things I might expect to see in an adult-targeted theme like Ideas or Architecture, not an all-ages theme like Classic, and certainly not at an impulse price point like this! I hope that these sets do well and LEGO considers including similar bonus material in other themes in the future!

Also, the Brickset inventories for the new Ninjago sets do not include parts in the new color Copper Metallic, even though the Customer Service inventories do. That needs to be corrected.

By in United Kingdom,

For some reason all of the inventories include a bright yellowish green Duplo wash basin (but that's from the source data at Lego, so who knows what's caused that).

The R2-D2 polybag looks wonderful, with the printed 4x4 dome and the 1x1 tiles for the front panels. If that's the May 4th promotion, sign me up right now.

^^ Which sets, Scott? I'll check that out

^ That is a bit weird, isn't it! I could sort it out here but prefer to publish the inventories verbatim.

@Aanchir just made those new Classic sets must-buys for me!

@Huw: Parts in that color appear in sets like 70622, 70623, 70626, and 70627. But weirdly, I just checked LEGO Customer Service and those parts aren't shown there anymore. They were there yesterday. Hmm…

30353 is city series not creator.

^^ It seems that the only new parts that have been shown in the inventories are printed. It's as if someone has decided not to include other, more useful, parts, to prevent them being ordered, as I said above.

Maybe that decision was taken today which has caused their removal.

Could 30612 be a mini doll and not a TLBM set?

@Anchir
The Batgirl polybag was a promo Polybag with just Batgirl from DC Grils line. I believe Just2good reviewed it!

@Huw: For what it's worth, the other non-printed new parts that were listed on the replacement parts page yesterday were showing as "not available", so it's not as though they could have been ordered anyhow. It's possible LEGO just wanted to make it clearer which parts they could replace currently and which they couldn't.

@lordofdragonss: Is that so? I can't find that review. I was assuming it was a LEGO Batman Movie set because the instruction manuals attached to it are entirely made up of ads for the LEGO Batman Movie sets and website.

^ Shame I didn't scan the site yesterday then :(

@Aanchir: well spotted on the $5 classic set manuals! Here's hoping that Lego actually decides to sell these in the US.

By in United Kingdom,

There are some really interesting polybags in there - R2-D2 stands out for being an unusual scale to make a character in Star Wars.

However, this does raise the question(s) - how will the UK be able to come into possession of large quantities of polybags now that the Daily Mail promotion has finally been cut off? Perhaps another paper? I'm hoping the polybags aren't mostly store-exclusive because my closest store in travel time is now Leicester Square, but you seemingly still have to wait in queues just to get in, even in the New Year

By in United States,

Is the r2-d2 on the scale of the buildable star wars figures or will it be too small?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I suspect the oversized R2-D2 will be the May the 4th figure, but I really hope not; that would be so lame.

By in United States,

For some reason, 75170-1 The Phantom's instructions aren't published.

By in Poland,

Is there a problem with updating minifigs (new ones, and their connections to sets) in Brickset catalog from Bricklink? There is currently only 12 listed form 2017, but in Bricklink database is much more now.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ They are only imported when the sets are inventoried: I suspect figures have been added there but not assigned to specific sets.

By in United Kingdom,

Don't anyone tell the turtle about his globally endangered status or it'll bring his mood right down...

By in United Kingdom,

Also, if it's 'Super Hero Girls' why does Kypto even feature at all?
He's Superman's dog.
Supergirl has a supercat called Streaky.
Eveyone knows that...
