70917 The Ultimate Batmobile revealed!
Posted by CapnRex101,
Market Watch has revealed an image of 70917 The Ultimate Batmobile, a set based on The LEGO Batman Movie which will be released on the 1st of June at a price of $129.99 in the US or €139.99 in Germany.
The set consists of a large Batmobile which can be divided into four separate vehicles along with a light-up Bat-signal and eight minifigures, four of which are brand new! These include Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Polka-Dot Man, the Wicked Witch, two Flying Monkeys and Alfred in his katana-wielding super hero guise.
I am most excited by the Bat-signal and Polka-Dot Man minifigure but look forward to seeing some detailed images of the splitting function.
Let us know what you think of the set in the comments below.

Looks like a cool set, but without an images of it main play-feature, i can't make a decision.
As just posted on the forum..
Got to be the best set of the theme...
this is a great set. Alfred makes it an easy decision
This is wow
There's a lot of stud shooter ammo, perhaps this one will take the record for the most shooters in one set...
This reminds me of Benny's spaceship spaceship spaceship.
The Alfred and the Flying Monkeys were an easy win, and all of the great parts in the actual build as well. I am curious to see how it breaks out into the other vehicles.
^ I agree. This is like TLB movie's equivalent of Benny's Spaceship. This thing looks wicked!
But what's with the Wicked Witch and the monkeys?
I am waiting for a set to include a few "British Robots" in new colors
Looks like the first section splits to make one batmobile and the second splits to make a batwing.
I wish they released his bat mobile from the Lego movie. That looked cooler than this one. This reminds me something from Ninjago sets just in black and sometimes grey.
Fine, take more of my money.
I'll probably just get the Polkadot man off bricklink. Gotta build up my rogue's gallery but spending $130 doesn't seem too appealling when he is the only minifig I'm looking for
Great! Just bought the new batmobile last night, saw the movie this AM, and this one makes a appearance in the movie. I am sold for the minifigs and light up bat-signal. Darn it LEGO just take all of my paycheck, looks like the family will be eating ramen noodles another couple nights....(just kidding)
Some decent parts there! Benny's Spaceshipx3 was one of only two TLM sets I actually bought for myself, and I think with this set filling that role I am just as excited by it! I'll probably end up hocking the figs in a second to help cover the price of the parts included!
So now Alfred has a secret identity? Thanks for the spoiler tag.
Edit: just kidding and that car is a beast (both in set and in cost).
Love this thing. Looks like it could fight all of Batman's enemies on its own! And lightup batsignal :oooo
The vehicle looks great. Alfred and the monkeys are must haves. I don't need another of the rest of the figures and I'm torn on Polka dot man...meaning, $130 is ridiculous. It might be worth it, but I can't afford another expensive Batman set, so I guess I'll keep an eye out for cheap figures hahaha like that will ever happen...

Looks fabulous and love the mini figures!
Looks pretty good, but $130 worth of good? Not really. If I have that kind of money to splurge there'd be better things to spend it on at that price point. Like a modular.
I don't think this was in the movie but hey, it looks cool.
Love this!! Seems expensive, tho
Dang, Lego just isn't stopping with these Lego Batman Movie sets, never-ending! Looks like an impressive beast.
I'm sure I'm on my own here, but I think it looks hideous. The light-up Bat-signal is a nifty idea, and I'll definitely be Brick-linking Polka Dot Man, but definitely a 'pass' from me. Maybe I just need to see the play function, ala, the alleged four individual vehicles?
I love the look of this Batmobile and the minifigures. Can't wait for this one!
That looks bulky and awkward. I presume the portion up to the 2nd set of wheels is the actual batmobile, which probably looks fine on its own. But the "caboose" after that just looks odd.
Too much money for such an awkward set.
You have to be kidding me. I definitely will have to see the movie to decide if this has any appeal.
@ behemothjosh
It does look reminiscent of Blacktron I if that's what you meant...
Looks like a lot of stickers... :(
I really, really like this design, from the way the running red line continues down the vehicle to the 'upside down' trans yellow canopies. Unlike the 'Speedwagon' which is more jacked up and agile, this is much more tank-like. I am intrigued to see how the split works and what the separated vehicles look like. To be fair though, a 'light up Bat-signal' is also a great addition, and that's besides all the minifigs.
I'd love to get my hands on a more detailed pic to see if the Wicked Witch differs at all from the dimensions pack. To an extent it's franchise wars with this movie - WB digging up popular properties Disney don't have to wave in front of them. I'll be seeing the Batman movie on Sunday!
The front section is the kind of bat mobile I love. I probably buy it for the front section.
As a vehicle on its own, looks pretty awesome. But as the Batmobile, not so much. "My" Batmobile is either the 90's animated or the 60's tv show.
Honestly, the more I look at it the more underwhelmed I feel. Another Batmobile? And what looks like a flying vehicle released at the same time as the nearly-as-expensive Batwing set? It's just a repetitive. And while the just-released Batmobile is a fresh new take on Batman's signature vehicle, this one looks more conventional and kinda boring.
Not to mention, if you're a Batman fan first and foremost, you're getting three Wizard of Oz minifigures here, three dupes, one minor villain and one odd Alfred minifigure (is he trying to be Kato from Green Hornet or what?). Compare that to the Scuttler set which has four exclusive minifigures (all of them "famous") plus Batman and main villain Joker.
I look forward to seeing how it all pulls apart and what all the stand-alone vehicles look like, but yeah, not too impressed with this one. Feels like you'd get better value out of buying the 70905 Batmobile and 70908 Scuttler sets than this one..
Looks like the Galactic Titan and the Earth Defense HQ had a baby in black and very very dark gray.
Wonder if they share a designer.
Those were both great sets, but I think the monotonous color scheme really hurts this model's pop. A patch of red here and there doesn't do it.
I'm expecting to see it at 40%+ off sooner than later.
Well that's my birthday sorted.
This set looks incredible, I am really stoked that we finally get a Bat Signal which lights up to project the signal!
To me ...a very very hideous batmobile ... both of them are ... yes agreed its a Lego movie design but it doesn't have to be ridiculous as this. This is a steampunk batmobile much like the steampunk pirate ship from The Lego Movie which still made better design sense than this .
Benny Spaceship.. sorry, no that one made perfect sense
Just saw the movie last night, and was saying, "Wow, I'm surprised they didn't come out with THAT Batmobile as a set!" And here it is!
But of course, and once again I ask (spoiler cameo alert), WHY WAS THERE NO FIRESTORM?!?! Apache Chief, Black Vulcan, El Dorado, Samurai, the Wonder Twins, even freaking Gleek!!! But again, Firestorm gets no love from LEGO. Really the only nitpick I had about the move though; it was awesome!
Far too pricey. Easy pass.
coming to a discount aisle near you soon!
Check out page 167 of the 'Making of the Movie' book if you haven't seen the movie yet. There's some final renders of the Ultimate Batmobile there showing what the other vehicles look like.
I like the Batmobile and the Batwing vehicles. The tank goes at the back and to me that's what makes it look bulky and ugly.
But the books rather good too, and on offer at amazon now.
I know the polkadot guy image has been seen before, but it seems unusual that he's exclusively on a base, but it's also a brand new mold (I think). I'd assumed that Base would be in a polybag. I assume there isnt anything about the character in the comics that necessitates he stands on a polkadot disc? Plus that disc doesn't look like it can have any a anti-studs on it. At least not enough for it to lie completely flush with something under it.
First impression...clumsy...
Can't wait to see the new Alfred superman minifig. I'm seeing the movie next weekend!
@ Brainslugged He had a large flying dot in his comic book appearance.

^ Hmmm, thanks. Do you know if Polkadot flew a polkadot dot or a polkanot dot?
I don't know whether that picture is a major spoiler or a minor spoiler for the movie, but CapnRex and other contributors to Brickset, can you be a bit more careful about spoilers for this movie, at least for another month or so? Some of us can't legally see the Lego Batman movie until the end of March.

@Brainedslugged. A polkanot dot. The dot he removed from his costume was red, but the enlarged 'flying saucer' was solid yellow.
For anyone curious about what the Polka-Dot Man did, he could peel the dots off his costume and the dots would then enlarge and become weapons or other tools, like fireballs, fists, a protective sphere and the 'flying saucer'.
I appreciate that TLBM is a comedy and vehicles in it are likely to be exaggerated for comic effect, but this new Batmobile really is very ugly. It's a sexy sports car trapped in a lumpen, over-gunned, tumescent body.
It looks a bit better when broken down into its component vehicles - thanks for the link, smokebelch! The separate Batmobile and Batwing aren't too bad, but there are better designs of both of those (6864 and 6863 for examples). The Bat-Tank and Robin's cycle are uninspired.
The only redeeming feature of this set are the flying monkey minifigures. I might pick some up on BrickLink if they're not too expensive.
Well, I dont really like it and dont think I am going to buy it. Although it seems to look better, when split.
What I had hoped for, was a Lego Wayne Manor! Maybe there is still a chance, we could see a Wayne Manor as a D2C UCS-Set?
To me this looks indeed very much like a forgotten BlackTron set. I also agree this will be the Benny's Spaceship (...) equivalent of TLBM. But the price seems just too expensive to me. Benny's SSS cost just under 100 Euro and looked like a 100 Euro set. This costs 30% more, yet looks like quite a bit less of a set.
Then again, I got my Benny's SSS for half price at the end of its run, perhaps I am lucky again and get this Bat-BlackTron-mobile for a similar bargain ;-)
Pretty much all the vehicles in this movie are oversized, leading to very expensive sets. It seems a very cynical cash-in to me.

You just described how most of the vehicles look in the movie, which is either a bug or a feature, depending on your druthers.
