LEGO Rebrick is currently hosting a contest based on The LEGO NINJAGO Movie and has revealed a couple of sets from the film in their announcement of the prizes. We get a good look at 70615, which we will tentatively name Kai's Fire Mech, while 70612 Green Ninja Mech Dragon also appears in this image, although we can only see a sliver of the box.

70615 includes Kai, Zane, two citizens and a pair of villainous characters while what is visible of 70612 reveals Lloyd, Sensei Wu and Lord Garmadon as well as a piece count of 544.

The Rebrick contest also confirms the existence of a rumoured direct-to-consumer set which will be priced at $300!

I think this set looks splendid so hope the rest of the range will be similarly impressive! Let us know what you think in the comments.

As "christmas" theme I believe it will get just the BIGGEST SETS

Love this mech design.

Hopefully it has knees but it doesn't look like it

By in Canada,

When can we expect these sets to be released? I haven't bought a ton of Ninjago but find a set here and there that really intrigues me. I am hoping this is the fact for the D2C set. I bought the temple and still have it out on display. One of my favourite Lego sets. Some of the other rumours have sounded tempting as well.

@tallblocktoo: I think the LEGO Ninjago Movie sets are supposed to come out in August, a little over a month and a half ahead of the movie.

I find it kinda quirky that they show the American box for the dragon but the European box for the mech. The mech is stunning in its size as well as its refinement, and bigger than I expected it to be. It makes me wonder how big the other ninja vehicles might end up. It's neat that this set contains some civilians, since those are not so common in regular Ninjago sets.

Anyway, really excited to learn what that $300 exclusive set might be! Based on that price, I'm expecting something bigger than either the Temple of Airjitzu or Metalbeard's Sea Cow!

By in Puerto Rico,

Unlike the regular Ninjago line this one seems bigger and expensive thought the mechs look more detailed and the brick built Mech dragon is beautiful. The fire Mech brings me memories of Exo-Force.

By in United Kingdom,

I would guess that the $300 set will be an iconic building of modular size from the movie or a street of open back buildings from the movie, with two or three vehicles for both sides, with the 6 ninjas and 6 enemy cmf.
The worst thing would be a set like the UCS Battle of Hoth. A hodge podge of previously released sets with very little new content.

By in Sweden,

A lot of Minifigures for a not so big set! Nice.

@JD_Graham
Exactly what I thought!
Yay : )

PS: Anyone noticed that one villain has a fish and a hammer as a weapon? XD

By in Denmark,

Exo Force all over again I guess ?
but yah yet another LEGO movie now with LEGO them as the movie theme.
it will not fill up the hole in LEGO sales there is this year, maybe next time LEGO)

I feel optimistic about the sets but not the movie itself

Little bit of an Exo-force vibe here.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yes, I do like how it looks like it was straight from Exo Force. The mech set, though does not look as cool as I would have hoped.

Gravatar
By in United States,

i wish i was good at stopmotion because these are some awesome prizes!

Gravatar
By in United States,

looks awesome and if they only, For example, include Kai with the fire mech and no other sets. that would make the set worth a lot more just for the minifig...

Gravatar
By in United States,

OH MAN!! THAT IS EPIC! I'm gonna have to get this one. The Ninjago theme lost me at about the second season, but the movie looks so good!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Meh. There have been too many mechs the past few years, I'm getting tired of seeing mech sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Geez that looks awesome. I've been wondering if Exo-Force would ever return. And now we know the answer is "yes!"

Gravatar
By in Poland,

$300 D2C? If it's as good as The Temple Of Airjitzu, count me in.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Urgh, no knees!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It's the Daddy of all Exo Force Mechs - but where's the fibre optic light brick?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Meh... Hey LEGO, remember when you were in trouble in the early 2000's, & how to paired things down and went back to the basic principles of your brand? I kinda think you should try that again...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@wunztwice: Ninjago EXEMPLIFIES the principles of the LEGO brand and the lessons in innovation LEGO learned from their brush with bankruptcy. It is a wholly original brand targeted at "core LEGO customers who love to build." (Brick by Brick, p270) There's a reason Ninjago's launch in 2011 was the most successful launch of any new LEGO-created product line up to that point, and it remains one of the top-selling LEGO themes even after six years.

In many ways Ninjago follows in the footsteps of Bionicle, the theme that saved LEGO from bankruptcy in 2003 (when basically all their other themes were failing) and became a blueprint for subsequent innovations. If you don't recognize that, then you understand neither the reasons LEGO nearly went bankrupt, nor the strategies that helped them recover. Reading "Brick by Brick" is a good place to start if you wish to fix that.

By in United States,

@ Aanchir: I thank you for your thoughtful reply and the information. I am well aware of the majority of that, and was more aiming my comment broadly across all of LEGO's recent products. Perhaps this exact thread was not the best place for me to have stated it, but after the Batman film I am already a bit tired of movie tie-ins... I was actually thinking a bit more on this and all the various "arms" of LEGO these days with the exorbitant amount of licensing (especially surrounding Dimensions) and the "one-off" lines like Ninja Turtles and to some extent PoTC, etc, and the crazy pace at which they are cranking out new elements. Perhaps it is because I have a very small LEGO budget, or perhaps it is because I am growing older and more cantankerous, but I have been feeling fairly ostracized more and more from the LEGO hobby in the last year or so.

A bit more on the nose, I was under the impression that it was more the Star Wars license which started the shift towards profitability again...

Gravatar
By in United States,

*sigh* Sure looks like it doesn't have knees. Come on Lego... Don't get me wrong, it looks freaking awesome, but without knees... ugh.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

The dragon mech looks awkward. I hope it will be better in person.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So, Exo-Force again then.
I had a real issue with one of the Exo-Force comics where one of the mechs points a flamethrower at a minifig, and I see they're using them as weapons again. These are not nice. Frankly, I think equipping a LEGO model with flamethrower weapons is WORSE than giving them guns and bullets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Joefish
It's much harder for impressionable kids to get hold of a flamethrower than a gun though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Daniel.H: I'm glad someone else shares my dislike for all these kneeless mechs Lego keeps putting out. As much as I might like the overall designs, the lack of knees is just disappointing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Isn't the D2C set The City Of Ninjago?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@ JD_Graham
I think you've got that completely and utterly the wrong way round by a wide margin! A flame you can blast in one direction or another is hardly the preserve of mystics these days, but certainly not something to be encouraged in play.

But my main objection is that these things are banned even as weapons of war, for particularly grim reasons; why do LEGO think they're appropriate to portray as weapons?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@donutsftw Yeah, it's quite annoying. I'll probably buy this anyway, and just add in some knees.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, considering it is a Fire ninja and Fire mech, a flamethrower makes sense. I understand the reasoning to not having them in LEGO form, but how else can a Fire ninja use Fire as a weapon...

I'm not into Ninjago, but that mech looks amazing. I may actually buy a set from this line.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Finally images! As expected its scaled down from the film. A bit of a shame but hey, at least it'll be more affordable.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

NO KNEES RAGGGHHHH! Aside from that little niggle, a very impressive set indeed.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That dragon looks great and the mech DOES remind me of exo force sets, can't wait for destiny's bounty image to be revealed-even though I do wish there were more dragons.
