Win a signed Fairground Mixer!

Posted by ,

To celebrate the launch of the Fairground Mixer for VIPs at shop.LEGO.com, the LEGO European affiliate team has provided us with an exclusive and fantastic competition prize: a Fairground Mixer signed by its designer Jamie Berard!

All you have to do to enter is answer a simple question (after reading the Ts and Cs of course). Everyone can enter, whatever your age or country, but under 18s should ask an adult first because you'll need to provide an address to ship to if you win. Entries will be accepted until next Sunday, 25th May.

Good luck!

By in Netherlands,

Well, it took a bit of Googling, but I found the answer.
Now, it's time to hope ;)

By in United Kingdom,

@Legolijntje - shame on you!
Not for using Google in a quiz though - you didn't exactly need to use Google! ;)
(Trying not to give it away... though I'm not sure why!)

As a fan of LEGO I'm so surprised you don't even know those Lego Architecture's name and yet try to google to get the result.

What a shame to see such a reply here.

By in Belgium,

I similarly didn't have a Scooby Doo!

By in United States,

It's not that I don't care, it's just not common knowledge about the set designers.
P.s. I didn't google it I just took a guess

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think they should put the names of the designer(s) either on the box or at least at the back of the instructions.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think its fun to guess the designer by the the style.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Haha funny that people had to use google ;) ;) What a great competition, best of luck to all the entrants :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Clues about how to find the answer = more people getting right = less chance of winning...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I agree with @KingDave it would be great to have some designer info in the instruction manuals. Like on the back f a novel when the give a short author bio.

Gravatar
By in United States,

No where in the rules does it say you have to be correct. Lol

By in Russian Federation,

That is cool! Very nice set and everyone would like to win I think)
P.S. Need more competitions)

By in United Kingdom,

HA! You're all so funny :)
Does look a great set though, just got the email to say its available early for VIP's, very tempting.

By in Austria,

Just entered, looking forward to the results!

By in United Kingdom,

Entered! I hope whoever the winner is, has a great deal of fun with this. :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm kind of on the fence about this set, (its the price that gets me) so if I can get one free I'll gladly take it! Would be cool to win something for a change....

Gravatar
By in United States,

I see nothing wrong with googling the answer. If people don't know, then google is a way to find the answer if they want to know. It's not even an easy answer to find with google, so it's still a challenge.

I'm disappointed in those who are blasting people for using google, as if they should know who the designer is just because they're a Lego fan. Heck, even when the set first came out, some people thought it was the work of one designer when it was really someone else.

If only I actually ever won things...

By in France,

I took a wild guess but now it's killing me to know the answer hahaha, going to be hard to wait until the 25th to know it, you guys will have to let me know where you found the answer on google (or the way to find it without using google) when the answer comes out. And back to the contest, I too hope whoever wins it will enjoy it, looks like a cool set!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think the idea is if there are more entries, it may be harder to win. But people at least still get their entry in for the chance to win.

The Green Brick Giant - actually it does say you have to be correct. They will draw the name randomly from the list of people who answered correctly. Did you not read the Ts and Cs?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Thank you for this competition, Brickset! And should I get lucky for once in a prize draw and win this great set, then I will reveal how I found the answer (not knowing it by head, but also not using Google...)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I never win drawings but I'm crossing my fingers. Definitely an awesome set to own whether it's won, or I have to buy it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

What a shame people are using Google when...
The answer is in this article!
It's detailed as part of the prize!
And it's written on the question page too! ;)

Sorry, it was getting unbearable! I won't mind if this comment gets deleted. :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Darn!
Spent ages trying to find the answer, and in the end, took an educated guess.
30 seconds later, managed to find an article with the answer, and what do you know, I was wrong!

I guess I won't be winning this time around then...

:o(

@zipsforbananas
You realise the question is 'who designed the Grand Carousel', right? Not who designed the Fairground Mixer.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Question for you all:
Suppose you won the signed set...would you open it to build and play with, or keep it MISB for collectability?
I have never kept just a box nor bought a set to save, so my first instinct would be to open it, but it being signed has me conflicted. I genuinely don't know what I would do.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^That's actually a really good point. My first thought was "wow, I won this awesome set. Now I don't have to buy it." But after thinking about it, it is signed so I almost wouldn't want to open it. Which means I'd have to buy a second one!! Grr, TLG.

The thing that gets me on it is the price too. I'm not in love with the set, but my daughter loved the Winter Village carousel, so she would probably get a kick out of this too. If I could find a sale, I'd buy it (but I don't see that ever happening).

Gravatar
By in United States,

@rodiziorobs
I would open it, because I see LEGO as meant to be used, played with, ect. If you keep in its box (or even worse sell it top dollar) its an injustice to the company, yourself, and the bricks that will never be used. Just my opinion.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huw, Please let us know the answer after the winner is notified or announced. Also it would be interesting to know how many total entrants there were, how many answered correctly, and how many were wrong and the numbers each choice received.
How easy would it be to get official interviews with set designers here on Brickset? That would be a nice feature.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If I won it was going as a prize in the Fairybricks raffle, but given the fact that I'm a complete doofus, that isn't going to happen.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

You should make a statistic of how many people voted for the wrong and obvious answer. xD

Gravatar
By in United States,

@JonP and Sethro3
Those are exactly my thoughts--I would want to open it as originally intended, but I feel like having it signed kind of repurposes it from a toy to a collectors' item (which is why I posed the question).
I would be loathe to sell it, but since I don't collect Lego just for the sake of collecting, I don't know if I would just hold on to it unopened either.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ah, just realised what an idiot i've been, immediately assumed the question was about the mixer and now realised it wasn't.. Valuable lesson learnt :P

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ahahaha! Have I just made myself look extremely stupid? *Walks away shyly with significant amounts of self-applied egg on face*

Gravatar
By in United States,

I googled it and STILL couldn't find the answer. :( So I took an educated guess. :( I wasn't even sure what to search for though. I feel dumb now. :(

I also agree more info on who had a hand in the set and a little blurb about them at the back of the instructions would be pretty cool.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Entered, now hope that for the first time in my life I win something. I would open it and build and play with it with my sons. For me LEGO is a toy meant to be played with. My sons would be asking daily when we would open the box to build it if I put it on a shelf unopened.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^But that's why you buy a second one! Keep one signed/sealed and the other to play with. That is how LEGO gets you!

Gravatar
By in Austria,

I admittedly googled it, and based on the context in which I found it, I think a lot of people are going to have the wrong answer...

Gravatar
By in Romania,

Yeah, this question is not simple! And it is misleading in multiple ways. I can not detail it further without giving the answer, but I have a feeling that this question is not fair given the fact that the answer is not officially published by Lego. In my opinion two of the answers should be correct because both designers took part in the design, but just one of them was the leading designer.

Gravatar
By in United States,

To Sethro3, at least you CAN buy two of them! I'm just hoping i can win this with beginners luck! No offense to whoever wins. *cough cough ME cough cough*

Gravatar
By in United States,

I know i got the right answer, good luck to everyone else! :)
