I certainly can't wait to see what it's like. I have been a little disappointed with Brick Journal lately although I greatly respect the job Joe Meno does to put it together. So, I'm hoping this can help fill the need for a quality LEGO magazine, particularly on this side of the Atlantic.
I have asked about availability outside the UK; once I have an answer I will let you know.

No not always, some times they cost alot more :)
Does anyone know if this will be a monthly release?
@Psymon - I know the cost of magazines may seem crazy when compared to say the cost of a book, but you have to look at the amount of people it takes to actually get the thing out there, there are a lot of salaries to pay, a lot of images/fonts to be paid for and a lot of overheads. I don't have any regular subscriptions but I'll still happily pay that kind of cost on a regular basis if a magazine or two take my fancy.
Is there anyway for those of us in NA to order this? Any link would be appreciated, thanks.
I've been told that you can order from abroad by calling the number in the article, which when called from outside the UK will be 0044 7858 892859.
@David83, I believe that depends partly on the success of this issue.
Yeah, I'm interested to hear about US availability. Designer interviews and other "behind-the-scenes" insights are always fascinating to me. I only have two issues of Brickjournal, chosen because they focus on themes that particularly interested me — Space and Atlantis. But I very much hope to get other issues some day if I can get a chance to browse through and find ones with interviews that particularly interest me.
It'd be thrilling if there were a LEGO magazine as well-distributed as other special-interest collector/hobbyist magazines like Beckett Pokémon Collector were back in the day! I don't know whether this one has the chance to become that sort of magazine, but it's worth looking into in any case.
How much exactly is this supposed to cost? I'm not ignoring Psymon, but I would like to know the exact price...
Can you get it delivered to your house or can you only purchase it from WHSmiths? If so, do you know if there is an additional postage charge?
^^ £5.99
^ Ask in-store or call the number in the article and order it from there.
WH Smith distributes magazines as well as retails, so it'll probably be on sale in newsagents too. Have to wonder about the company behind this though. No proper website, orders by ringing a mobile phone!
I hope it's a success, but it ain't exactly Conde Nast!
i just hope the publisher offers subscription and issues via the iTunes store like DC does with comics. Not sure about the cost associated w/ my latter comment but having e-editons would definitely help sell more issues.
I'll be picking this up and hoping its worthy - as mentioned above there's a gap in the market for this on our side of the Atlantic. Just hope there is content to justify the price tag - if it's just glossy format of what I read on this website and others then issue 2 will probably be a struggle.
Soo getting this!
An internet search identifies the phone number as being used for subscriptions to "Practical Performance Car Magazine". A magazine available in shops and with an active Facebook page. A bit more digging around gives "Blockhead Media Ltd" as the publisher of PPCM. And I've just found "Retro Ford Magazine" as another Blockhead Media publication with same subscription number.
£5.99 isn't so bad if you can get 27% off.
I am really looking forward to picking this up. Others have already commented that there is a gap in the market for this, and I see no reason why it should not run as a monthly edition.
It looks as though it contains news, interviews and reviews, as well as a liberal spread of MOCs, which sounds like the perfect mixture to me!
'Just' £5.99. Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhh... Nooooooo....
I was wondering what had developed with this after reading the initial item on it a few weeks back. I had been in a large WHS last week and had a good look for it then as it had been penciled for a June release. I obviously didn't find it, so its good to know that its coming out.
i'll be getting a copy. But as others have said the content is likely to be available elsewhere and outdated compared to the net. That said there is something nice about having a hard copy to read rather than on a phone, tablet etc. And then to look back at when you stumble across it again in a few years time.
£5.99 wont break the bank, but is pretty steep. I guess they would have never got a deal with Lego, but for that price it would have been nice to get a poly or figure with it, (something like that would be great as a way to get polys in the UK, rather than just a mad hit every 6 months with newspapers). Without that £3.99 or so would be a more palatable price point.
For those saying £5.99 is expensive... well, yeah, it is pretty steep BUT you pay a fiver for eg the Ben 10 comic which is a couple of dozen pages and a really crappy plastic toy.
Why all those complaints about 5.99 for a 132 page magazine packed with information about your hobby? For this price you can only buy a City Car with 50 pieces or so. If the contents is good, GBP 5.99 is a very good price, I would happily pay that if the magazine was available in The Netherlands (would be around Euro 7.65 then).
It's a LEGO fan magazine based in the UK - and unless you count the Brick Issue I don't know of any others - so I'll be supporting it by buying a copy before deciding whether I think it's worth less than the price of a couple of pints in the local.
