Rumoured list of 2015 Star Wars sets
Posted by Huw,
We are entering the time of year when retailers are shown next year's sets and get hold of lists and catalogues. As a result we can expect to see information leaked onto the Internet. We won't be showing any confidential images here and will only republish lists that appear elsewhere first.
The first such leak concerns, as usual, Star Wars: a list of possible January 2015 sets has been posted by Jedi News, sent to them by an anonymous source:
Microfighters
- 75072 ARC-170 Starfighter
- 75073 Vulture Droid
- 75074 Snowspeeder
- 75075 AT-AT
- 75076 Republic Gunship
- 75077 Homing Spider Droid
Normal scale sets
- 75089 Geonosis Troopers
- 75079 Shadow Troopers
- 75080 AAT
- 75081 T-16 Skyhopper
Star Wars Rebels
- 75078 Imperial Troop Transport
- 75090 Ezra’s Speeder Bike
- 75082 TIE Advanced Prototype
- 75083 AT-DP
- 75084 Wookiee Gunship
There's nothing there to interest me, but then I gave up on Star Wars in 2012. What do you think?

Looks like a strong line-up! :-D
I guess the better sets for Star Wars will be released later that year. That list is meh! I am hoping for a cloud city dinner table showdown or cloud city carbon freezing chamber or cloud city luke vs darth or Emperor's throne room/final conflict or Dagobah swamp with yoda's house or uncle owen's moisture farm (to go with the sandcrawler and mos eisley cantina). basically something we haven't seen for a while or something totally new.
I'm interested in the microfighters. I know they are not the best sets around, but they are cheap and I find them to be pretty cool. Plus, I have all the microfighters, so I'll keep at it until it completely sucks lol
I like the sound of Geonosis Troopers, although it seems strange that they would release such a set now, as specialised Geonosis Troopers have not appeared since the Clone Wars TV series.
The AAT and T-16 Skyhopper are probably the best of the bunch for me, and the Imperial Troop Transport sounds like a good source of Stormtroopers in a Battle Pack or £20 sized set. Based on the names alone, this seems like a step-down from the Summer wave, which is fantastic.
The list itself doesn't really grab me, but I guess we'll see what we end up with when the pictures are released. I'd like a troop set containing stormtroopers which hopefully the transport will be but it's not a certainty. It's sad to say but I just don't enjoy the star wars sets quite so much anymore and I find I'm getting less and less excited by them each year. I generally only get the OT stuff now anyway and there seems to be so many re-makes each year instead of giving us much new.
Looking at this year we've already had a new snowspeeder, B-wing, Cantina, AT-AT, Star Destroyer and Sand Crawler. And even for non-OT sets it's another Wheel Bike, Vulture Droid, V-Wing, Jedi Interceptor and Droid Tri-Fighter. It's just repackaging old sets with a couple of small changes and slightly different figures. I know Lego's a cash cow, Star Wars in particular I'd just rather see some new sets and designs. Like one of the other posters has suggested, how about the Carbon Freezing Chamber or a different Cloud City set? What about the scene where the Falcon blasts away from Tattooine? The Yavin Rebel Base?
The geonosis troopers sounds like it will come with some good minifigures. It also seems to me that it will be most likely a battle pack. It's also interesting to see the micro fighters have another series.
Wasn't the Tie Advanced Prototype Vader' custom Tie from A New Hope?
Hard to decide whether the Rebels sets are worth picking up without knowing what the 'real' ones look like, but will pick up the rest. Love the micro fighters, just wish I could afford the ComicCon and toy show sets too.
Absolute garbage, but by now I've been thoroughly immunized against expecting system-scale Star Wars sets to do anything other than suck.
those battle packs sound good
^^^Vader's TIE was a TIE Advanced, I don't think it was a prototype, but I'd expect the ship to look very similar.
I'm quite happy that there is nothing from the Old Trilogy at minifigure scale, but in saying that I'm getting a strange feeling of deja-vu....
The set rumours in the last couple of years have seemed like hopeful opportunities for OT purists to save some money, maybe to make the Super Star Destroyer a realistic prospect. And then later on we've always had a glut of sets that put the SSD out of reach again, like the Sandcrawler which has also found its place on to my want-but-will-probably-never-buy list next to that SSD!
Is lego just going to milk the SW sets until the end of time? There is simply too many rehashed sets.
This actually isn't the first leak. the January 2015 City sets list leaked a few weeks ago - great vehicles, harbor police and demolition crew themes.
@M4444M44: What was the list? Can you post it here, please? :-D
I'll be quite glad if they are continuing the microfighters line, although I wasn't that interested in them at first they are fun little builds and generally quite useful for obtaining additional mini figures at a relatively good price when the sets inevitable get price cuts.
Thank god, I only buy OT sets, so the micro fighter AT AT will be all for me. Or I might just hunt down that polybag AT AT from a few years ago, whichever looks better.
I thought this story was an April Fools joke with all the rehashes.
According to the universe, Vader used a prototype called the TIE Advanced and kept after it was decided no more would be built. The UCS set from 2006 and regulator set from 2008 featured Vade. There's a good chance this Rebel's set won't and will contain a pilot instead.
For us nerds :). , "The TIE Advanced x1, or TIE/x1 was an advanced prototype starfighter touted as a replacement for the standard TIE Fighter tested by Darth Vader and X1 at the battles of Yavin and Mustafar respectively. While it never made it into production, many of its best design features were later incorporated into the TIE/sa bomber and TIE/IN interceptor. Further development of the Advanced continued, eventually leading to the TIE Avenger and TIE Defender."
The Rebels sets are probably of most interest to me, simply because they're actually new...the number of rehashes is disappointing as always but that's all we're likely to get until the new film is released. And Star Wars remains Lego's most popular theme after City; the rehashes always sell so why would they stop?
Anyway, as someone else pointed out, the second wave of Star Wars sets has tended to be better in recent years. Cloud City is definitely overdue some attention!
I agree with some other comments. The ratio remake vs new idea is to much in favor for the first one.
I understand remakes sell. And some of the remakes are definitly better than the first one. I missed out on a few sets like cloud city and the kashyyyk sets. So would love to see new versions.
Still, there are lots of places, scenes and vehikels not produced yet.
Even the new Rebels wave has a few typical sets: a TIE-fighter and a AT-ST-isch walker. The Wookie gunship is a great surprise to me! Love to see more of those kind of sets.
I would like to see more coherence in each years set. Rebels is an example, but in normal sets aswell. Similar to city waves as the artic range.
So lets say in one year:
cloud city (freeze chamber),
twin-pod cloud car,
millenium falcon,
'I am your father' scene and
slave 1 escape.
(I know this contains some remakes, but it is for arguments sake).
Or
Mos Eisley market
Mos Eisley speeder shop
Ben kenobis house
Tusken raider encounter (with bantha)
Lukes home
Or even jawa vs tusken raiders
And this is just on the top of my head.
I'm assuming the TIE Advanced will be the Inquisitor's fighter that hasbro revealed at Toy Fair in February which, if I remember correctly, was a lot like a standard TIE with a ball cockpit and more curved wings (not angled and elongated like Vader's). Also not really understanding the complaints about rehashes, only two system scale sets are remakes and it will be the first time in more than 10 years that they've been done (assuming AAT is tan like the 1999 version).
Of course the battle packs could have things we've seen before but the emphasis on those has always been more on the figures...
People are complaining about 'rehashes' but there is very little here being re-released in the same form as it has before. Bear in mind that a lot of the models previously produced are being made in Microfighter form here, but System-scale. In System-scale there are two Battle Packs (which are obviously profitable) and two sets that haven't been released before or for forever.
Star Wars Rebels is a similar situation insomuch as the content is all new. whether you like it or not if a different situation altogether.
Don't worry guys, it's not complete. I mean, they have to have sets for Star Wars VII when it comes out December 2015! Then 2016 has Gareth Edwards' Star Wars spinnoff film, and then Episode VIII is scheduled for 2017, so you'll get new stuff.
Worst SW lineup ever!
At least I can focus on purchasing earlier SW sets or the current ones I don't have yet.
Does this mean that the UCS Slave 1 will be introduced earlier, since it is not on the list?
I don't think it's time to give up on the Star Wars Line yet. While being an OT collector it is rather annoying to get carbon prints of sets year after year, but remember that all of the Lego SW designers are working on sets for Episode 7. So these set are mediocre because they are funneling all creative energy into the Episode 7 wave. Even then I still think there are a couple ok sets in the Bunch (Sky Hopper to name one)
Shadow and Geonosian troopers sound cool...also wanna see the imperial transport and the aat.
Come on guys don't write em off until you see some pics...
^ They're only mediocre because you've probably already got the 'same' sets from previous years, other people won't have them. As for funnelling all their creative juices towards sets for Episode 7, I don't think that's true either - all the sets I've bought this winter/summer that are so-called re-hashes of previous sets are actually much more superior with better bricks and better build techniques :-)
I will take a wait and see approach here but the Rebel sets sound interesting:
75078 Imperial Troop Transport
75083 AT-DP
75084 Wookiee Gunship
Out of the normal scale I say the two battle packs:
Shadow Troopers and Geonosis Troopers (clone flamethrower please).
Not too excited by the PT microfighters, but battle packs and system scale stuff looks interesting, as do the rebels sets. I do already have the clone wars AAT, but you've got to remember that although it may be a remake, a lot of people won't have picked it up the first time, particularly kids who may have been too young/not collecting when previous sets were released.
OOOOOOOH. This is a vast improvement over this year's Jan. wave. One of the only SW sets I own is the 2009 AAT, but I might have to see this one, and I want it to be tan and include a Flash Speeder. That vehicle is well due for an update, but probably wouldn't sell well as a stand-alone set.
Does anyone here know what an AT-DP looks like? I would totally go for a Vader's TIE in the same style as the 2012 TIE Fighter, and I need a Shadowtrooper Battle Pack. Love those guys. The T-16 I will reserve judgement on until we see pictures, but I have no interest in Geonosis Troopers or Ezra's Speeder Bike. Some of the Microfighters sound good, and having seen the ITT, I want nothing to do with it. I'm also assuming there's NOT a list of prices, which would be helpful.
@picnicbasketsam check out concept art for the AT-DP and also a MOC here http://www.hothbricks.com/2014/06/at-dp-all-terrain-defense-pod-bientot-star-wars-rebels/
Would love for them to announce Slave I UCS. I'm sure it's coming, LEGO rumors that come off this strong tend to be right. Maybe next year?
And I'm loving that Rebels is getting strong support. I'm really excited for the show and already have the first two sets they released. Another cool thing about Rebels is that since it's set pretty close to the OT, not only will the sets released for Rebels tend to mesh fairly well with OT sets, but some Rebels sets may be of interest for OT fans because the intend of their design is to match that period closer than say the Prequels or Clone Wars sets were.
LEGO: please give us a new mold for Ezra's lightsaber! it's awfully unique looking and deserves one. There were unique molds for a few other lightsabers including Dooku and Asajj so give Ezra some love!
Lastly, count my vote as disagreeing that the LEGO designers are busy on EP VII sets. I bet they've only just begun to brainstorm on those.
There's nothing on that list that peaks my interest at all. But then I do tend to buy if they look like a good representation. We'll see I suppose?!
Huh! I actually care about almost all the sets! Battle packs sound random, but great. The microfighters are clone/droid based, so there's a chance of getting unique minifigs. And the Rebels sets all sound good except for Ezra's Speeder Bike. I'm a fan of the Clone Wars era and when the Empire takes over after that, so these sets ante satisfying!
Now, I know you guys all complain about remakes, but its always been beneficial for me. I've only been collecting Star Wars for 6 years and I miss out on a lot of the originals. But NOW it's getting on my nerves. I already had an X-wing when they came with one in 2012, I already had a B-wing, and now I already have a Tie Advanced. And just because its improved, I'm going to have to get it ( the 2008 one was not that good :( )
I liked the last lot of MicroFighters and would love some more, particularly a Snowspeeder.
Of the rest, the original T-16 set was a bit poor so an update would be good. But then again so would a nice dark orange cloud car...
The TIE might be interesting, though that depends on how much detail it gets robbed of by its appearance in the animated series.
Shadow troopers set sounds great! Hopefully it will have the exclusive shadow trooper minifigs.
Definetly nice to know Rebels would get the same treats as Clone Wars. We haven't got Sabine in any previous set.
As long as the minifigures are unique (ahem, include Wedge or something) those micro fighters look good. The AAT and the Imperial troop transport sound promising as well.
I only like the AAT set from this list.
Looking forward to the Rebel's sets most, not seen much footage of the series yet but was very impressed with the Ghost/Phantom sets and bought them day one.
Micro fighter Snowspeeder and At-at sound like what I would buy. Being wary of SW since the Disney thing. Had to look up on Google for some of these names. Thank you.
Interesting to see the list of microfighters, and how it compared with my own speculation. I had expected something like:
Snowspeeder
AT-ST
Naboo N-1
Droid fighter
Jedi Starfighter
Jango's Slave 1 (with Jango, the one named fig that would come)
I didn't think they could effectively shrink the AT-AT, but I had retrofitted my micro-tie interceptor to be a 2-legged walker, hence the AT-ST guess. I'd been most hopeful for the N-1. If they keep the series going though, maybe someday.
Where is the Slave 1?
The AAT is the most exciting release from this wave. Perfect set to go along with the new MTT!
Looks like 2015 might be similar to 2014, where the July sets were much more interesting than the January sets.
That said, July 2015 could be the last round of "old" sets we see for a while. With the new Star Wars movie coming out in December 2015, I would expect that just about all of the next SW releases (Dec 2015/Jan 2016) will be based on Episode VII designs.
So the July 2015 wave might be the last really good chance for some of the more obscure older SW sets to be made.
Ooh. I really hope something Cloud City-related is a store exclusive or the first UCS, because that would certainly explain the lack of a Cloud Car. They're releasing the even more obscure T-16 Skyhopper, which was a set the same year as the only cloud car... I sense a disturbance in the Force, as it were.
I do not like the AT-DP's design at all. The "chicken legs" are way too long and thin and the cockpit is diminutive. Someone on Eurobricks unearthed a pic of the Hasbro TIE advanced Prototype. That one seems to have short, curved wings that fold, a lot like those of a Sith Infiltrator.
I don't why folk are speculating the demise of OT sets with Episode 7 on the way... OT and PT sets are here to stay until the Star Wars licence expires!
If there is a Slave 1, it wouldn't be released with this catalogue info, it'll be an 'unveiling' event and no doubt be a Lego Store / LEGO.com exclusive for the first year like any UCS
Looks good for my wallet! I was hoping for a micro-LAAT/I since I need some more phase 1 pilots. Also, I like the sound of shadow troopers and geonosis troopers although i was hoping for a 501st adn 327th pack respectively. My minifigure prediction for geonosis troopers is that we'll get the sonic troopers from TCW, but I hope it'll be regular AOTC clones (fingers crossed) If the AAT is good, I'll probably get it as well (missed the previous versions) - the Rebels sets don't sound interesting to me.
Dang, I guess Rebels will be taking up the lion's share of the theme for a while. The only positive for me is that the Micro-Fighters are returning. I really do enjoy those.
I second all the other comments about a new Cloud City set. But at this point, I don't have much confidence that we'd get a proper representation of it. Sets like the new Cantina make me think that all we'd get is a perfunctory facade, with half the set's pieces dedicated to an unnecessary vehicle . Because apparently Lego doesn't think kids can enjoy anything if they can't go "Vroooom!"
Seems realistic to me...
IF it's true, I'd have to see the TIE Advanced and ATDP before I decide. So, maybe.
^There's a link in the comments somewhere showing a picture of the AT-DP. Not the set, a drawing and a Lego MOC-up. And in the Eurobricks "Star Wars 2015 Pictures And Rumors" thread there's a picture of the Hasbro TIE Advanced. The LEGO one will probably be about $35, if the 2012 TIE is anything to go by. That thing is puny.
I think "giving up" on Star Wars seems a little harsh. Yeah I think it would be fantastic for Lego to branch out a little more than they have and dabble a little more into the expanded universe but I don't think this years sets were too bad. I am getting a little tired of the repeats like the AAT, snowspeeder, AT-ATm and "vehicle sets." I'm interested to see the T-16 Skyhopper, the TIE Advanced, Shadow trooper pack, and the imperial troop transport, but that's about it.
I agree with what others have said about the microfighters! I too think they are a fun little build. They are just right to strategically place around your desk/monitor too!
And, of course, it looks like Lego will never issue another Bespin/Carbon Freeze Chamber set.
I'm glad we have a new show to give us new ships.
I like the Micro things, they are cute, but overpriced I'm waiting for them to go on sale.
I'm more interested in the Friends line up.
Odd that we're getting some "EU"/TCW sets this year.
Although Geonosis camo Sonic Troopers, Flame Troopers or ARF Troopers would be phenomenal, I don't understand why LEGO would be releasing them almost a year after the The Clone Wars series was canceled. Not that I'm complaining :)
On the other hand, Imperial Shadow Troopers and a full-scale Skyhopper were only seen in the EU. Considering all that's happened in the past few months, I can't believe Disney would allow that kind of merchandise on shelves. That being said, I REALLY want new Dark Troopers.
Of course, these are just rumors after all...
Yay for Rebels! As long as the series ends up being good, I'll pick up all of those sets. And... that's saying something, as I haven't purchased a single Star Wars set in at least five years.
I have no problem with re-makes. They protect my wallet and they also let newer fans get models they'd otherwise have to find on eBay. I'll be interested to see the new TIE Advanced--8017 is nice, but it was from 2009 and I'd love to see it get the 9492 treatment.
Here's hoping I can complete my UCS alphabet fighter collection--come on, UCS A-Wing!
Sounds like a pretty plausible list. Boring as all get out, but still pretty plausible. :P Still, though, props to LEGO for making another T-16 Skyhopper. I have the original, and it'll be nice to see an update.
Also, I agree with the general sentiment that a Cloud City reboot is well past due. Again, owning the original, it would be cool to see a new one, with new parts and minifigs (especially minifigs, Bespin Luke's outfit is one of the best costumes ever).
^I agree with you ra226. As much as I would love to have an entire new wave. Sometimes its kind of nice to save my wallet. A wave like this gives me a chance to catch up with all the other sets. The AAT and the battle packs are about the only thing worth getting and maybe the Wookie Gunship just to get some more wookies. My luck I will end up wanting all the store exclusives.
what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! still no cloud city . there taking forever too come out with a new one
Just say, "NO!"
LEGO knows the Star Wars fan base is a loyal one and will still end up buying some, if not all, of the minis. Though this is more of Lego pushing their App that ties in with this series.
+1 to the post re: building upon Mos Eisley. Re-create the spaceport. Some of the building design and parts could be of use to those trying to MOC the modern wars of Iraq and Afghanistan.
I panicked for a second because I thought we were getting a minifig scale Snowspeeder and Vulture droid just a year after the last version. Then I realized they were just micofighters and I gave out a sigh of relief.
I imagine I'll get both the battle packs and the TIE advanced. I'm particularly existed for the TIE advanced since I missed the 2008 version. Vader's tie advanced was already a prototype so would that make this set a prototype prototype?
@ legomaster1378 The same thought crossed my mind about the shadow troopers and the skyhopper. It would be odd if Lego made sets based on non-canon sources. I predict these will both be featured in rebels and that will be the platform from which they will be introduced.
And it came to pass that there was a truly lackluster LEGO SW press release of rehashed ships, sets, and lesser media tie-ins. Thus another AFOL was able to save money for his UCS Tumbler purchase.
And it was good.
Its interesting to read people's comments about the Microfighters. I've steered clear of them as I found the Planets sets so disappointing but maybe it's time I gave them a go. Will wait for the sales as I do with almost every SW Lego set but definitely worth checking out it seems.
From that angle I think the Snowspeeder and AT-AT will be interesting.
I have to agree with others though, my initial thoughts are that the July release will be a much stronger line-up again next year but will wait for the pictures to see exactly what we're getting.
Shadow Troopers baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Planets was an odd line--I actually like them, but I'm an adult collector. They were clearly designed for display and have little play value. I'm not entirely sure why Lego made them in the first place since (I thought) their primary audience was kids.
These microfighters sure sound more appealing then the last ones, assuming they pull them off. I think the Rebels sets sound interesting, and so do the regular. For now, we'll have to wait for pictures...
This is from the Retailer Catalog, so a UCS Slave 1 would be listed. That would be a D2C exclusive and not be shown there.
I kind of like this list. I am always happy to have a new Tie variant. I would love a nicely done T-16 (Maybe we will get an Aunt Beru to go with Owen Lars? And we can stop using the black Fantasy Era Skeleton to represent her at her worst?). It would be nice to have one in Luke's T-16's actual colors instead of ugly red. Also looks like lots of love for assorted types of Army Builders.
I only get SW Lego if they are from Eps IV to VI and normal scale sets. If I got all of the sets I think I would be calling Wonga.com for a loan.
I have no interest (or clue) for anything else.
So this is good news in that respect - it prevents me from parting with my cash!
I am glad that I never really got into Eps I to III or the Old Republic stuff - a blessing - I'll stick with the films I grew up with and leave it at that.
I'll skip the Rebels sets as I hate the style and don't think too highly of the idea and possible execution of the models.
Still, the Shadow Troopers and the T-16 (Biggs? Womp Rat?) kind of thrill me a little. And the Chibi sets, especially AT-AT sound sweet. The ARC hopefully has a cool pilot.
I am not worrying about redesigns, the Cantina and ISD just came in time and are different enough to their former incarnations. Snowspeeders and AT-ATs though, we've seen enough I'd say.
I just realized....the Skyhopper will be Rebels themed, so RIP in peace EU.
Okay, time for some wishful thinking.
Having recently acquired the 2013 Republic Gunship, the lack of a second clone pilot was disappointing. I hope that the Microfighter Republic Gunship makes up for that by including the same pilot minifigure.
The "Rebels" sets sound very interesting, and will likely be a great oppurtunity to acquire some Stormtroopers. I just hope they're not stingy with their trooper minifigs the same way they were with the Phase I Clones in 2013. We want to build armies darn it! (Well, I do at least)
Also, about time they made a new AAT! My droid army shall continue to grow! Also the two battle packs sound really awesome! Though I'm still not entirely sold on the new blasters introduced this year so having to buy the other blasters separately is kind of a pain.
Overall, I have a few things to be excited about and I can't wait to see the pictures!
