New tractor tyre!

By in United Kingdom,

I'm really not sure, but are these prints in almost all of these sets? The renders don't appear to show the normal raised edges... If so, maybe we're finally turning a corner with that?

... Or maybe Lego's renders are becoming more deceptive.

By in United Kingdom,

That 'RIDES' series looks like it's aimed at post-DUPLO ages. My grand-daughter will love those!

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Wow! What a good looking wave. Shame they are starting to cheap out on minifigures or side builds in the cheaper sets

The tractor looks brilliant and I’m not even into those. Also no additional figures or side builds? Come on. Wrong piece count and pricing on that one btw.

Lego van is a must buy, however I’m seeing €20, not €30 of worth

Coast guard sets look refreshingly realistic but not my thing

Fries van is a must buy like the other food trucks

Taxi looks cool, would wait for discount though. I love how the sleek the EV supercar is, and I have to get the hot rod too!

Even the remix set is eye catching, I especially like the service truck and hovercraft

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I'm loving all of them. Really feel LEGO City is in an absolute golden era with the construction vehicles.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

What is "Rides"?
And why is it branded as City?

Like that trans-bright-green windscreen though...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Laser cannons mounted on a fire engine is a bold choice XD

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice tractor!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want a lot of these, wow!
Coast Guard helicopter no longer done up in the usual US Coast Guard style, I noticed.
The tractor is really nice! And about time we got a new cement truck. Love the fries truck!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm not a fan of the Rides. They seem expensive for such small sets without a minifigure. No doubt some people will want to collect the babies but the seem useless to me.

And what is going on in Jet vs Car? Is it a battle or race ...? It looks like two unrelated sets in one box.

Still, a couple of nice vehicles in there.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

Shame that Police Prisoner Transport Van looks so juniorized. My city's surely running out of parking space for all these food trucks.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

A very mixed bag. Favourites are 60500 The LEGO Van, 60498 Tractor, and 60478 Cement Mixer. "Rides" are awful, a 1 wave aberration maybe! Most of the rest are pretty average.

By in Finland,

Airport Fire Truck DAY 1

It is so amazing we have this "new" CITY BOSS and his very talented team. You can turn front tires...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

... why are babies driving the vehicles?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Okay, so more cars - but in this case, these are useful vehicles. For the most. I mean, the tiny and unofficial Construction-subtheme scores another big hit there as far as I'm concerned, and I do like the tractor and the hot rod.

I don't know about Rides, man. What kind of sick man sends BABIES to race me?

Also - dang, man, is that Gogo Yubari in 60479?

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

So many City sets this year. Rides are an interesting concept. I liked the Gamer car. It's funny. I'm definetly cloning the hot rod. I have thing for hot rods.

YOUR CITY - NO LIMITS

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

What an impressive line-up! Awesome!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Some nice vehicles in there, for sure.
Initially, I misread "Fries" as "Frites" and thought: 'proper Belgian frites would be good'

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have no idea why there are Chibi vehicles, I only know I want them badly.
Also, that tractor 60498 and sportscar 60486 are essential day one purchases and thankfully budget friendly

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Absolutely stellar wave for City this year! I'm getting the Taxi and LEGO Van right away.

Also, the Rides sets are adorable!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The 'Rides' sub-theme looks like shrinkflation. Lego wanted to keep the price point but to do so they shrunk the character included and thus the vehicle.

There are still some surviving vehicles at the 10 euro price point but the costing and size varies wildly. 60487 Yellow Taxi costs 50% more than 60486 EV Supercar for 13 extra pieces. Not sure why they couldn't both be 10 euros (corporate greet perhaps?)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Awesome line-up!
The designer of the tractor has been watching Clarkson's Farm for sure :-)

Totally agree that Jermery's lambo!

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

The Tractor have wrong piece count & price sticker :(

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Thank you for not interesting me.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

No way that tractor is 10 bucks for 62 pieces! Probably worth correcting that bit :)

These look fabulous, I love that they're still doing €10 vehicles (minifig-scale ones) and that the recent construction subtheme is here to stay! Also love that fire and police don't get a full overhaul every year or 2 anymore but are treated much like the construction subtheme now, only getting a couple additions each year with the same branding and design theme as the sets from years prior. Love the LEGO van, €30 is a bit steep but it's way more affordable than the huge truck so I expect it'll do well. The snowplough is actually my favourite out of these though! City vehicles have been receiving a premium treatment for some time now so this looks great as always, plus €25 is actually a pretty good price.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Ha, I love the rides! And that new tractor’s got full-on Lambo bull vibes…hence the logo:) Very nice line-up!

If I were to guess, the cost difference is in the extra minifigure and several (very nice) printed parts. Okay, €5 for that is a bit much perhaps, but I don't think the taxi is horribly priced. Agree with you on the rides though, novel as they are they do seem a little small for that price tag.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

That cement mixer is great, the fire truck too. And the tractor, but it doesn't fit my collection, so probably I'll skip it.
I hoped for space sets, but so far it's a nice line.

Gravatar
By in Croatia,

There's one more, garbage truck!

I think the jet wins pretty easily in both cases!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I am sitting almost spilling my coffee laughing out loud on those Baby cars! hahah... later it came out to be a bad joke. Babies driving cars with huuuge tires?! What happened there? Someone on mushrooms in the design team?

Lets get serious for a moment, that Lego Van is nice, i like the hot rod and the Fries Van is a must buy if on discount. Id prefer such as a building myself but a new food truck does a similar trick.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I like the Snowplough 60490 for it utilitarian look. Should be easily moddable with different attachments on the front or the back. There are also some hinges on top of the container and "salt" behind the truck, so maybe it even has a working play function.
Still 5-8 bucks too pricey but at least here you seem to get something for your money.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Big problem for my wallet. Great wave, I want most of them, and all the other themes are also top notch. And then I even have not yet seen the big and most expensive sets I am going to want...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Playmobil also recently put some stupid shortened wheelbase vehicles on sale, I guess for the same market as the rides. They remind me of the exaggerated car cartoons you used to see (maybe still do) at car shows. And look daft in actual 3D things…

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Chip shop and Taxi for me both look very good, the Lego Van looks to much like the City Pizza Van they did a long time ago..

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Babies with cars! Hilariously silly. They'll make good birthday party presents for when my kids need to bring a present. :-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wait, does that airport fire engine have STEERING?! Is that a first for a City set?

This looks like another incredible wave, lots of modern remakes of sets from the 2005-2010 golden age of City. I think we might be in a new golden age now actually, the new designers are nailing it

The cement mixer, tractor, snowplough, and everything in the airport and coastguard subthemes are gorgeous

Gravatar
By in United States,

The aesthetic on most of these has drifted too far from “my” vision of Lego city vehicles - they’re a little too polished/rounded or futuristic for me.

I’m a little frustrated on the construction vehicles too - the excavator hit the mark for me, but the bulldozer, crane, and this mixer miss.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Some really great stuff here! But I have doubts about the "Rides".

Gravatar
By in United States,

Glad we're getting a second remix set, hope it's compatible with the first one. Lots of nice vehicles here besides that. I might need that cement mixer and airport fire truck in particular.

There is very little to dislike here.
City construction vehicles are so good these days, makes me want to move away from Technic entirely.

It is basically a remake of 60083 , and I want this updated version. Along with the tractor, but I'll wait for a 20% discount. I have tractor and mog sets already! The parts count isn't that bad on the plough for the price, considering the 2015 version was 200 parts for 20.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Amazing wave with a nice mix of sets! Something for everyone here. Food trucks, Coast Guard, airport sets. Fun chibi vehicles which will definitely be popular with the kids!

Gravatar
By in United States,

A strong wave. I will probably end up getting them all.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@Huw. The tractor 60498 cannot only be €9.99. Especially since the number of pieces between what written below the price and on the box does not correlate.

That said, I love this tractor, I think it looks wonderful. I also like the coastguard ship, the mini LEGO van, the snow plower, the cement mixer and others.

I really like this wave, actually.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Disappointed that Lego again went with orange and white for Coast Guard sets instead of black, red, and white. I just don't get it.

I'm fairly certain we are indeed looking at prints! The Speed Champions renders do show the raised edges for stickers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Shame the Soapbox Racing was one-and-done. Probably didn't sell well, I guess.

Gravatar
By in United States,

*Definitely* getting 60485. I wish they'd do a hot rod like that in Speed Champions. They did one back in the six-wide days, with 75875, but I want an wight-wide!

They look like they’re aimed at the people who liked the Hot Wheels Tooned series that apparently didn’t sell very well or they would still be making them.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Life raft design reminds me of brilliant 7738.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I NEED that ready-mix concrete truck, and the LEGO van, they'll look great in our cities! Otherwise, most designs feel...skim milk.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

That tractor looks absolutely perfect.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow I wasn't expecting a Dead Kennedys set in LEGO City

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love that hot rod!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

For some reason I am digging the snowplow, which I have zero use for since I have no affinity for them nor do I have a city layout needing one. But I think they nailed the design.

The hot rod is neat, and while I do like purple and lime together, I will have to consider a different color scheme. Maybe I'll beef up the Iron Man hot rod in the form of this one.

@THX1977 are you talking about the ship hull colors? The U.S. Coast Guard has always had orange as part of its color scheme, especially for aircraft. As much as I’d love to see a semi-realistic U.S.-style buoy tender, icebreaker, or for that matter regular cutter, I think orange works great for a Coast Guard color scheme.

Regardless, always psyched to see more Coast Guard sets!

The only problem is these Coast Guard sets are tomato soup instead of actual orange

Gravatar
By in United States,

One of the best city lineups in years. The designs are so fluid and well resolved. Super cool!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Geez, you'd almost think that City is run by a car-guy...
That chips van looks way too much like the burger truck.
The hotrod is a great design, but awful colour scheme :-(

Gravatar
By in United States,

Holy crap these all look awesome!

Dang I’m going to have to go a little broke this year.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Bearing in mind that I am absolutely part of the problem here - I want at least four of these vehicles, maybe more, and possibly the baby cars as well, and yes I *do* have a few of the Hot Wheels Tooned cars, they’re *adorable*, and still in production - it feels a bit like they’ve forgotten the City bit of the City? The Friends sets have far more variety. City could do with some more small buildings, shops, restaurants, cinemas, galleries, anything for the little Lego people to do instead of just driving to and from the train station, airport, police station, hospital, fire station and exploring far-off places. Or being rescued at sea.

I pick them up when I can - and the Creator sets have also been helpful - but it would be nice if the balance shifted a bit.

Boats are usually white or black with red. Choppers are dark orange or red. Just thought a change would be nice from what has come before.

I'm gonna Edit that Hot rod for the Joker
And the Ev supercar for Harley Quinn.

I just noticed the hot rod doesn't have headlights.

Gravatar
By in Romania,

60498 Tractor "mech" is gorgeous.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The Food Truck sub-theme is getting worse year after year.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Looks like 60499 is steerable! Will certainly look into how they did it at that scale. (the fireman/woman seems to be quite merry - which is strange considering whenever they are called - there is a tragedy at hand)

It looks like my theme will be "City" for 2026. I will most likely get: 60478, 60486, 60488, 60490, 60498, 60495 (not shown here) and potentially 60500.

Spending will be relaxed for HP sets as I only want 3 sets (minifig scale sets) of the first wave line up.

Technic, which is 'supposed' to be my favourite theme will probably see no buy for the first wave.

I might get the telescope 31378-1 from creator 3-in-1. Most sets are very nice but I have so many animals by now - I'm starting to wish for something else (and no static object with flower on it for me).

Unfortunately, I have yet see any part recolours needed for my current MOCs. As of now, and this might change rapidly, my wallet is breathing a sigh of relief. Normally, we should hear about the modular tomorrow.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Kinda surprised the Rides sets aren't 4+, and even more surprised they aren't pullback. That would have made them perfect toys. As they are now, they look just weird, and dare I say less value for money than the regular €10 City sets?

It's got Pluto! Technically it should have Charon as well, since Pluto and Charon are really binary planets, not planet-and-moon (they co-orbit around a point located between them, not a point located within Pluto). Any half-wit moron who says Pluto hasn't cleared its orbit obviously hasn't looked at the solar ecliptic plane from the side. Pluto's orbit is 99.9999999% devoid of anything, because it only intersects the ecliptic plane twice every 250ish years. At perihelion, it's as far from the ecliptic as Neptune is from the Sun. At aphelion, it's an additional 60% further from the ecliptic. Pluto's actual orbit probably has less stray mass than the other eight planetary orbits combined. Just not when you look at it top-down.

@TheOtherMike said:

It's got the solar model to show where Earth is, the UFO to show aliens coming to check us out, and the microscope to figure out which of our deadly bacteria and viruses killed them off the instant they breathed Earthican air.
