By in United Kingdom,

oooo, if true that list looks to be as good as the current series. I really want that Unicorn Girl...and hope the evil Wizard isn't too similar to the one from Dragon Mountain.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This'll be another series that The Entertainer won't be stocking, then. I've been wondering why I haven't seen series 12 in my local branch, then I remembered that they don't sell anything with to do with witches, wizards and the occult (e.g. Harry Potter).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Really? I wasn't aware of that. It seems ridiculous because I know they've had Fairy play mobile characters and loads of How to Train your Dragon merch. Where do you draw the line?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ Huw, it's highly hypocritical of them. You can't elect to not stock toys due to their occult overtones, but then stock toys with violent overtones, like guns, swords and military action figures. Killing people with a gun is OK, but killing them with magic is not...

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Galaxy Trooper, Alien Trooper, Lady Cyclops, Samurai, Egyptian Warrior... Really... These sounds too familiar. Seriously Lego, admit it, you are out for new ideas!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The list looks good, with a few exceptions (another Samurai, two more space troopers and a "Lady Cyclops"... what?).

Excited for the Unicorn Girl (most absurd Minifigure ever?), the Goblin, the Evil Wizard and King.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

With regards to the entertainer the owner choses to lose money because of what they think is right, how many of us would do the same. I have the same faith but I will get the wizard for my castle but I would not have got the fortune teller but its up to each of us to think about what is right. I shop on a Sunday but like seeing that the entertainer is closed. It is not clear where to draw the line but its nice in this day and age to see that someone is willing to even at a cost to them. Sorry for off topic, the list sounds good to me as a castle and space fan.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

^^^ Yeah, Lady Cyclops is idiotic idea. What will be next? Lady Roman Soldier? Or maybe Lady Minotaur?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There are some great Minifigures on this list, particularly that carpenter if he includes a hand saw which is an accessory I desperately want to see in LEGO. The Egyptian Warrior could be interesting as well, particularly if it is the kind of Minifigure one could build a chariot for.

As for the Entertainer, I am always very disappointed with stock levels in the various stores I have visited, so see no reason to ever buy from there anyway.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Are these for next year?? I hope so. Too many good sets to get this year so far and still got to get all of S12.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Excited for the unicorn. I hope Disco Diva has printed hot pants and a crazy pink afro or the like (I'm thinking like Caroline Flack wore on Strictly at the weekend). Hot Dog Guy should be cool - If he's either dressed as a hot dog or a regular guy with a new hot-dog-in-bun part and ketchup on his shirt. If it's just a guy holding a sausage, that's boring. Paleontologist is presumably a preview for Jurassic Park later. I hope the fencer has a cool mask headpiece. I'm interested to see how Egyptian Warrior, Evil Wizard, Goblin, Samurai (female would be cool = Mulan!) turn out.
Carpenter could be ok if he has interesting accessories.
More Galaxy/Alien troopers?? Yawn.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

How come it took this long for TLG to use the épée for its actual purpose?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hoping a better translation clears up some of the repetition of names. Liking the look of the snake charmer's cobra, and his headdress looks like an update of the previous turban.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I agree that it's not hypocritical to not sell "occult" stuff but to sell guns, but what I find odd is there are plenty of magic themed items that they do sell.
I completely respect people for allowing ethics to overrule potential profit, but like I said before, where do you draw the line? Simply anything that features witches or Wizards? that's a very narrow band when things like fairys and unicorns (which they are happily selling) also have a link to the occult.
I'm not bashing them for it, I'm just trying to understand exactly where the line is for them.

I'm really curious to see what the goblin looks like. I'm hoping for something more like the Fantasy era castle stuff than the LOTR/Hobbit orcs.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

How do fairies and unicorns have any stronbger link with the occult than any human, other than that like witches and wizards they don't actually exist. The issue is fairly clear, wizards and witches are very clearly involved with magic, its intrinsic. Fairies and unicorns are not, I suspect the Entertainer wouldn't sell a unicorn holding a tarrot card. I don't agree with their ideas - they're as mad as a box of frogs, but as others has said I respect them for forgoing profit to maintain their beliefs.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have friends who identify as Wiccan etc so I know that most magical creatures do have links to the occult, just not in the tinker bell type fairy form. I get that from their point of view these seemingly harmless magical make believe creatures aren't 'encouraging evil' but they are still linked.

Also just occurred to me they do sell LOTR/Hobbit stuff, probably a better comparison - why is Gandalf ok, but not Dumbledor?

Again I respect the Entertainer's choice but I think they have a mixed message going on.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Well what a disappointing list. How can we have Galaxy Trooper and Alien trooper again?!!! Female Cyclops rubbish - how about Siren or Harpy? There are plenty of female mythical creatures out there.
Am sure the Samurais and Egyptian Warrior will be great. And the goblin could be a real winner.

I don't know why Lego doesn't ask its customers what they would like. They could have a big old brainstorming.

May be Lego could hold a competition to design a mini figure. And then have it made. Possibly spilt into different age groups. (4-10, 11-17, 18-24, 25-35, 36-100+) Winner would get a complete set of that series and a framed picture of the final design.

There are plenty of ideas out there that they shouldn't just be doing male/female equivalents when they really aren't appropriate or that there are other ideas out there.

I would love to see X-Rayed guy. : )

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They also sold stuff connected to Narnia, but since the Narnia books have links to Christianity, that may be the reasoning. It's just that the CEO of The Entertainer is a Ned Flanders type OTT Christian type.

And what about Star Wars? Didn't Admiral Motti berate Vader, all because his "Sorcerers ways" couldn't find the stolen data tapes (ie the Death Star blueprints).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Always happy to have more space figures. Two in one wave is even better!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

YES! I love this list and I know a family member will love the Unicorn Girl. Can't wait for another Alien! :-) :-) :-)

Gravatar
By in Japan,

Oh I so badly want that King mini figure to have a crown that isn't the standard 'battle crown' that all the sets have used so far...!

And based on that image on The Brick Fan, I'm going to have to buy about 6 of that Snake Charmer- those cobras are going straight into my Heroica MOCs!

I wonder if the Hotdog Guy is going to be a hotdog salesman or like a mascot costumed minifig?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Thirteen - THIRTEEN - series of Minifigs and still no golfer! We have Lego fencers, basket weavers, quantity surveyors but still not a golf club placed in a minifig hand after 36 years of minifigs and 5 years of Collectibles! Yet golf is a widely played and followed sport. What has golf ever done to Lego? Did a Christiansen get taken out by an errant drive some time in the distant past? Or do we need to get a token Dane onto the Ryder Cup team to raise the level of Lego interest? I am so desperate I could now even live with some sort of crossover. What about an octogolfer? Space golfer? Evil Samurai Disco Golfer? ANYTHNG!!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

In response to Matt Young suggesting TLG listen to fans for minifigure ideas, they do. I know that they pay attention to their own forum, since I once started a topic there to suggest a judge minifigure (this was the first time it had been mentioned on the forum) and a few months later, it was announced as one of the series 9 figures. When it was released, it was exactly the same as I had described, even the red gown.

The forum is almost exclusively populated by children and that would explain why the good ideas have seemingly run out.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

LEGO and hot dogs ...two of my son's favourite things!

Spotted unicorn girl on the back of my son's mag and thought it might be in the next series.

Regarding the occult, I wish LEGO would do a Halloween themed minifigure collection. Monster Fighters was good but there's more that could be done.... Pumpkin headed scarecrow, grim reaper, headless horseman, scary clown? Maybe next year?!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@mr_skinny - a lot of those would be easy to put together;
There was a Grim Reaper type minifigure with one of the castle/kingdom lines - standard skeleton with a black cape + hood
Pumpkin headed scarecrow could be done with the CMF scarecrow and a printed pumpkin head, like those used in some of the Harry Potter sets (and weren't too expensive on Brick Link last time I looked)
Headless horseman...remove a mini figure's head and put them on a horse?

I prefer the mixed bag approach they take, means there's more likely to be a little bit of something for everybody.

I suspect that the Hot Dog guy will be a hot dog seller, as much as I'd like it to be a guy in a hot dog costume, two mascot type characters in one series seems unlikely.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Unless quality has improved, I'm holding off on future CMF purchases.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Never thought I'd say this, but,

"I wish they would stop releasing them now, they should of stopped at series 10"

There, said it, feel much better now.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want a golfer already! Oh well, I'll still get all of these. Looking forward to the "Troopers", maybe they'll M-tron or something.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I absolutely love the Snake Charmer! The snake and turban are great new parts! I wish the snake would fit in the brown pot that came with the Leprechaun... The Unicorn Girl's face is too similar to the Fairy's, but she's cute in a ridiculous way. The Goblin, Egyptian Warrior, and Evil Wizard sound great. I'm expecting the latter to be a direct answer to the Merlin we just got. Maybe he'll reuse the hat? And since black and red were done, I'm guessing he'll use black and green or purple instead.
The Lady Cyclops will either be hilarious or a cheap repaint like the S11 Lady Robot. She had better be good. The Galaxy/Alien Troopers? What? Oh boy. These sound too much like the Galaxy Patrol and Alien Avenger. I like aliens, though, so I'm holding my judgement. And another Samurai is useless after S3 and Ninjago. The Hot Dog Vendor should include a proper bun piece. Maybe the paper hat from the Butcher will be reused? Disco Girl needs a dated 70's hairpiece!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Other CMF news - I strolled into my local Target last weekend, and they had set up an end cap with Series 9, Simpsons and Series 12 for $1.48 each! Figured out why all were the same price, they all have the same Target stock number. I was able to find (feel) a set each of 9 & 12 for a total of $50. Might be worth checking your local stores.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just noticed the Unicorn Girl's new tail! The bracket is white, but the tail itself is pink!
I only wish her mask was like the Panda or Gorilla Suit Guys' with a closed mask and open eyeholes. It would have been more useful here than the mouth-opening style. Humanoid unicorn people would have been possible if they made the mask the other way.

Gravatar
By in Taiwan,

Unicorn girl:
The very first mascot character based on mythical creatures. She's goodlooking but not sure if it's a popular design. I personally haven't seen this suit in my real life :p.
Snake Charmer
An Arabian addition is okay, but to me its individual visual impact isn't bigger than the genies. Cobra is the real star, obviously.

About the rest prediction, I think the major dissapointment is that Castle and Space figures seem to rehash again and again. I'm not sure if we should see a different version of common medieval characters or LEGO can actually just put them in a future update of regula sets. I believe there could be some other mediaval characters who aren't royalty and we've not seen before.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I've never bothered with CMF's (or minifigs in general, to be honest) - but unicorn girl? Yep, going to have to do it - I'll be Dad of the Year (even more so than normal) if my daughter was given that!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This series seems alright to me, ok a few I'm not so bothered about but until you see the finished articles it's difficult to know really.

As for the Entertainer I try not to shop in there if I can help it. The selection is never great and items they have discounted are still normally available cheaper elsewhere. I also dislike the way they advertise some sets. At times they'll put up signs to say how amazingly low the prices are yet the sets will still be at RRP, not discounted at all. I know that's legal as they're not actually saying it's reduced by any amount.

So I'm not going to congratulate someone on their ethics and morals for not selling wizards and witches etc, when they're happy to use marketing tools to essentially trick parents into thinking they're getting a bargain when they're not.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder where the Director image at TRU came from. Why design a CMF-looking character you're not going to use, LEGO? It would be better than a female Cyclops. And a legitimate female counterpart they should have made is the Bride of Frankenstein. There are ideas, but they keep coming up with stretched rehashes.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

To be fair, the Entertainer are on a par with WH Smiths, and charge above the RRP. They've even increased all older CMF sets to £2.50, since the price hike.

Referring to sports themes - none of the sports figures so far (CMF range) have come with a ball. Basketballs and soccer balls have been produced, but no other. If they say that it would result in small (harmful to infants) pieces - well, thats no excuse. Ice skates, roller skates, syringes, and many other small pieces have been used.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Figure selection doesn't sound too bad, with some interesting figures.

Tbh rarely shop in the entertainer and it's their loss if they don't sell the CMF's since their very popular.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

To put a pin in the entertainer thing -
Curiosity got the better of me so I sent them a message asking why things like Harry Potter weren't ok but LOTR are and got a response saying that their concern is anything they view as "Black Magic" dressed up as fun. If the content is magic to depict the conflict of good vs evil then they ok it.
I personally disagree with that view but respect their choice to miss out on potential sales for an ethical concern

Gravatar
By in United States,

Pardon, does that say Hot Dog Guy? does that mean hot dog vendor or guy in a Hot Dog Suit? though the latter would be funny, I think it would be very un-lego to make a new minifig-sized Hot Dog Mold. I think and hope it will be the former.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You know, if a lady cyclops means I have more cyclops available to buy... so much the better.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@Legonizer: The German site with this list said hot dog vendor, but there is a chance they received the list in english and also did not translate it properly.

Gravatar
By in Taiwan,

> where the Director image at TRU came from.
I don't think that Director was original enough to be a CMF. But I agree that some of the ad characters are pretty appealing. Like this one.
http://www.legocreativite.fr/vacanceslego/

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm still hoping for a hockey goalie. I got the player.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A hot dog suit could utilize a specially moulded sandwich board piece. But I think it's probably a vendor.

Gravatar
By in United States,

omgosh I want the unicorn !!!also what is a lady cyclops?!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh I hope the two troopers have new colors of that sweet, sweet armor. But since the space miner just had it I kind of feel doubtful.

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

wasn't there
a samurai in CMF series 3?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

> view as "Black Magic" dressed up as fun. If the content is magic to depict the conflict of good vs evil then they ok it.

Interesting, is Harry Potter necessarily the former, though?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope the "sheriff" is an old west/cowboy sheriff!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I am most excited about the carpenter, I hope it comes with some good accessories (hand saw would be amazing or a new style of hammer, maybe a 1 x 4 tile with a wood-grain print)

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Cool, just got the new s12 cmfs and the other are listed thats fast

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, we shall see how this turns out. The list looks promising, but then again, it looks like a lot of repeats. It is obvious LEGO is running out of ideas. I'm sure this is one of their cash cows considering the huge mark-up and impulse shoppers. I wonder how the $3.99/pack is going for them? More than likely they will continue at that higher cost. I thankfully found mine at Target for the lower price. I ended up getting a few extras (that I normally wouldn't have done) but I was happy it was a lower cost. Had they been the full price, I would have picked up the set and called it good.

As far as this list goes, it does look like it has potentially good army builders. Which is a problem for me since that is what I like doing.

And I think it is a narwhal figure, not a unicorn :P...Now if they change the arms to wings, then I might think differently. I mean, they are the unicorn of the sea afterall.

I do like the new snake mold, but don't care too much about the rest of the figure.

And it makes sense to have more space themed figures. They have been absent for the most part lately, plus that huge push for Classic Space will help move product. Those guys will buy anything.

Gravatar
By in United States,

>Japan and Egypt AGAIN

It's like the rest of the world has no history.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw

As silly as it may seem, I have heard that the wild success of Harry Potter makes it more of a threat (in the opinion of the ultrareligious) because it distracts children from religion and gives them false hope in magic (or "evil cults", etc).

This idea is touched on briefly in a documentary called "Jesus Camp", I'd recommend it.

Also, the HP books are pretty anti-establishment and anti-government, which is funny considering how outspoken J K Rowling is about her appreciation for welfare support and how much she pays in taxes. All a lot of interesting gray areas you could write a dissertation on.

Ultrareligious types don't like anti-establishment ideas for obvious reasons, so there's that.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@UtarEmpire

Did you miss the consistent Greek and Roman figs? With all the new molds, I am 99% convinced there's a Mt. Olympus theme on the horizon.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think with Harry Potter it more about kids playing with magic (the occult) than anything else.

Gravatar
By in United States,

ok some more space stuff im gonna love and hot dog guy will be awesome

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Just got our Club magazine today. it has a different group of figs. Only thing new a can see is a new wonder woman print. Sorry if this had been said already, reading is overrated. Haha.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As long as the Samurai comes with a fu manchu (similar to the handlebar moustache piece from TLM, or Sensei Wu's without the beard) instead of a ninja mask then I'll be happy.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Unicorn girl has a very strange head. But it makes use of the Uni Kitty horn mold.
That piece can be removed to leave her as a Pantomime horse girl.
The Body print will also be a new top for the lady minifigs?
The legs look a bit odd, but I guess the whole thing could be used as a onesy for minifigs. :)

Nice new cobra mold and the Turban will be useful.
Carpenter will be awesome with a saw but he might just have a chisel?
Hotdog Vendor would be a good addition to any city.
We don't really need a new wild west sheriff. Having just had the Lone Ranger series.
Female Cyclops. Absurd, but I guess it could have some new parts for a LOTR orc mashup.
Goblin/Imp, I wonder what this means, is it going to be LOTR goblin or a garden gnome type Imp?
this could be the fantasy army builder for the series.
Two space army builders. Will it be a Classic space Galaxy Trooper or a Galaxy Squad type trooper?
Samurai and Egyptian warrior. More army builders for an Ancient World theme?

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I love fantasy and sci-fi figures, but I really wish they'd give us more sports and musician figures. My personal "wants" are Golfer and Violin Player. Make it happen LEGO! :D But anyway, Long Live Minifigures, keep 'em comin'! :)

Edit: is that a hint of a tail for the unicorn girl? I can see a tell-tail ;) sign of one with an extra thin piece between the torso and legs.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hi. Can everyone check their club magazine?? My son's mag does not show the snake charmer or the unicorn but does show what could be the Egyptian warrior (wearing a snake head dress) and what could be the carpenter ( he is hanging from one of the big letters wearing a hard hat/ear protector combo and has the regular circular saw). Unfortunately I can't upload pic??

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

To add, my theory is that all 16 may be spread across the mags.....??????

Gravatar
By in United States,

Set 12 is the "Last" set that I will buy of this line. I think that the Minifigs are now a inferior product because of the cheeper and far less quality of material used to make them. If you compare them to the first few set, you can see, feel and hear the difference in the product. I'm sorry to see Lego drive the first nail into the Minifig coffin. It was a great run while it lasted.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Considering how freely TLG has been making new molds recently I'm surprised the Snake Charmer doesn't have a new flute piece. That cobra looks amazing though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My initial reaction is disappointment, but that will likely change once images for all 12 figures become available. I definitely want the Carpenter, Egyptian Warrior, Snake Charmer, and Hot Dog Guy. The rest depend on the quality once images are available.

And I agree with statements above. We need a golfer! I'm also surprised we haven't had a basketball player at this point.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Superpabz
The guy with the snake headdress is probably one of the Anacondrai cultists (from Ninjago's next wave), and the carpenter sounds like a generic City character. I'd love to be wrong, though!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@Captain Blockbeard, We've had a whole theme of basketball players already. Not that any of the minifigs looked remotely good though and I agree that an update is overdue.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

What would lego think about allowing fans to submit ideas? Would that breathe new life into the lineup?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, two costumes? Unicorn girl and hotdog guy?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@8BrickMario,
I agree the carpenter figure does look pretty generic city. Unfortunately I'm not a ninjago expert but I will check out and see if I can find an image. Just strange that my photo did not include the unicorn or snake charmer.....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@8BrickMario
No, not the new ninjago figures (at least not on my googling).
I can't attach an image, but I have set the photo as my avatar so that will give you an idea of the figure I mean. You'll get a bigger image if you go into my profile.
Cheers

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^ Sorry, Superpabz, but it's the cultist from the Jungle Raider set. :)

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

I so do respect that someone draws a line to what degree of occultism they want to allow on their own premisses. Bravo!

Fair argument that its hard to set the line on when its fantasy and when its occultism, because it does blur. And when violence is used as innocent entertainment and when its motivates to lifestyle. That blurs too.

But though its hard to set a limit should not mean we do not set on at all.

Respect for those who risk getting mocked for trying. Even when we disagree w them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

From the Hoth Bricks picture, you can see the Alien and he is awesome. The king looks fantastic too with a new crown. It is hard to make out, but the evil wizard may be incredible. The Egyptian warrior looks great with a new head piece mold; same khopesh and medieval style shield, though. Paleontologist looks good and may be a female.
Now, the bad news. The Lady Cyclops is a rehash of the other CMF Cyclops in a different color. The Sheriff is very similar to the sheriff in set 70800, only this sheriff really is not-a-robot. Disco Diva is a rehash of the other CMF Disco guy. I cannot make out any other new ones. Usually, I like half of each series, but this time I like 12 of them, so that is interesting, because I do not collect “town” minifigures like Paleontologist, Carpenter, Hot Dog Guy, and Disco Diva.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The issue with The Entertainer is simple; it's typical old fashioned sexism in religious indoctrination. Domineering 'Wizards' are fine, as are 'Fairies' (and any traditional lesser female roles) - but try to cast 'Witches' in an equivalent role to Wizards, on the side of good (as the Harry Potter series do) and that's a big no-no. Tolkein and Lewis are part of the old-boy establishment, Rowling isn't.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Still got to get the Prospector from S12. And these S13s will be in my local Argos and WhSmiths in about five weeks time. Hopefully get some pictures before then. Could look on the Argos website or in-store computer though... A few pictures of possible S13 pieces have been leaked from the a factory of the Hot Dog Guy's Hot Dog suit, Galaxy Trooper's helmet and Goblin's hat/hair/ears. They can be seen over at Eurobricks in the Special Themes forum in the topic Series 13 Rumors and Discussion.

I am now excited for the Carpenter. He is one of the only minifigs we haven't seen images of yet. The image of a box stand appeared in the S13 topic on Eurobricks too. Love the Sheriff, especially the WANTED poster. :-)
