I think we knew it would have taken something extraordinary to beat the Wolfpack Beastmaster produced early in 2025 and indeed, the Collectable Minifigure takes first place! Wolfpack is one of the most memorable factions from the Castle theme and this minifigure is perfectly executed, bringing the classic design up to date with stunning detail and some fantastic accessories, plus the new wolf.

Readers may debate whether accessories should factor in to decisions concerning a favourite minifigure, but I see no reason why not, just like the character a minifigure depicts or nostalgia are likely to influence decisions. They certainly did for me, as I voted for Obi-Wan Kenobi in his Clone Wars armour.

On the topic of Star Wars, Gingerbread Darth Vader finished in second place. Novelty designs are always fun and this concept works extremely well, especially with the brilliant printed cape. Jedi Vader placed highly in the 2024 poll, so I wonder which version of the Sith Lord will reach the final in 2026!

Perhaps most surprising, in a positive sense, was Zero's strong performance. Minifigures from the likes of DREAMZzz and NINJAGO are often very detailed, although sometimes overlooked because those characters are not as familiar to everybody as Collectable Minifigures or licensed characters commonly are. Only the best designs from these themes tend to reach the final, let alone finish in fourth place!

Lastly, I must note the continued quality of Collectable Minifigures. Even in a year with only two conventional series, seven of the sixteen most popular minifigures are Collectable Minifigures, including two of the top three.

There is still time to cast any last minute votes for your favourite set(s) of 2025 and those results will be published very soon.

What do you think of the results and are there any surprises from your perspective? Let us know in the comments and thank you to everybody who voted.

I expected Wolfpack to be the clear winner. A worthy victory for sure! I don't have any Lego castle nostalgia, and even I picked one up. The new thick cape is excellent.

Also happy to see my personal favorite (Spider-Punk) in the Top 3!

Wow, that Wolfpack dude brown-nosed so hard it went past brown all the way to black. Which is just proof that Blacktron should have won.

I voted for the Pirate Quartermaster: just a fantastic looking minifigure, and not a direct remake of an earlier design.

By in United Kingdom,

Thing is, did the Wolfpack really win, or was it just the nostalgia vote of the Castle crowd? And was Gingerbread Vader really that good or was it the blind voting of the Star Wars fan boys?

Really I'm just playing devils advocate here as both figures were very good and well designed, but I do think that Spiderpunk deserves far more attention when it had arm and leg printing (which Vader didn't have), duel molding (which Vader didn't), and unique, not seen before hair.

edit: Also @Huw, what happened to the best CMF figure ever vote you were talking about before Christmas?

Huh, the teal spaceman didn’t even make top ten, didn’t see that coming. Figured the Wolfpack was a strong contender, especially with the Falconer winning last year, but I thought the spaceman wouldn’t be far behind

I desire more Castle beastmasters with appropriate animals to accompany the goat herder and falconer.
In fact an entire CMF series; bear, eagle, hound, deer, wildcat, boar, fox, owl… …badger, hedgehog, frog swarm, squirrels, pheasant.

Agree. I picked her because of the design and pieces. Her accessory was fantastic too.

I did debate on the Steampunk inventor due to the creativity of a new unique design.
Castle, Space, IP characters, same ol' same ol'. Only 3 ahead of Quartermaster were creative, so I take that as a win for Pirates!

This poll is clearly very wrong. How on earth can the beastmaster win when nobody actually owns the figure?

It would actually be interesting to see the Votes vs. People who own the character vs. Want the character. Looking quickly, not many own Zero, less then 2000 sets with him in it tracked in the site. Great looking character though.

I voted for the teal Classic Spaceman but strongly suspected that the Beastmaster would win. Independently of my guess that the Beastmaster would take it, I ran the nominations thread through AI and it predicted it as well.

I don’t see the appeal of the Beastmaster. It’s fine and I have one in my display collection but I don’t rate it that much. And that’s not sour grapes on my part: I had no trouble finding Beastmasters in stores at the RRP. If someone can explain the appeal, I’d be genuinely interested.

Among classic original LEGO themes, Castle was THE army building theme. Any castle-related minifig is usually high in demand and Wolfpack even more so, as its figures were limited to only three sets (one a mixed-faction figure pack).

Also, the beastmaster comes with an exclusive wolf.

Pretty sure the bear and tiger molds won’t fit in the packet, and no way the deer would with those antlers. The idea of someone commanding a frog swarm does amuse me. I’ve already got two figbashes of Squirrel Girl, though.

@DekoPuma:
I do actually own a few of the Beastmaster, but mostly because I knew it’d be hard to find (so grab them when you find them), and to get the wolves. Don’t really care about the minifig, same as the Black Falcon falconer. Oh, and would you believe the last three Beastmasters I picked up, I got on clearance?

Gravatar
By in United States,

A worthy winner to be sure! As a castle fan, the Wolfpack Beastmaster is exactly the kind of thing the medieval slot in a CMF should be. Brimming with detail, a new mold, a shield, dual-molded arms and legs, and even a cape. Perfection. Can’t wait to see what series 29’s Classics has in store!

Yup easily the best design if you ignore nostalgia.

I do like the Wolfpack one but I feel like the wolf itself helps influence that. Without the wolf it's still good but the pirate is absolutely brimming with character.

Not at all how I would have voted. Then again, hardly any of the final 16 minifigs in this vote would have even been in my top 16, the only one being the one that I voted for (Jango Fett). Can't understand how that boring and not very detailed Obi Wan can rank higher than the highly detailed and excellent Jango.
Whatever, my tastes have always been different from those of the masses ;-)

Just a reminder to the comments that this poll was 'favourite' not 'best'. Everyone chooses favourites differently, whether it be due to nostalgic connections, army building ability, accessories, FOMO, unique printing etc etc.

Despite me being a wolfpack fan before it was cool (jokes) I voted for the quartermaster, due to a number of the above reasons. And because I have a habit of rooting for the underdog (hence being a fan of a short-lived 3 set castle sub-theme from the 90s) and Star Wars or the Beastmaster seemed like sure-fire winners.

Gravatar
By in France,

should have seen that coming. I thought Darth Vader would win. surprised the classic space one is so low, I guess the blacktron and wolfpack minifigs stole his votes. nothing I was really crazy about here, my choice was Barbossa. I feel there were stronger figs last year.

Whereas I don't see the appeal of the teal Classic Spaceman. Exactly the same design as all the previous ones and in a not particularly nice colour.

For me, the Beastmaster is perfect as both a figure in his own right and also to use as parts as they are not reliant on being paired with each other due to continuous print. You only need a few different heads and you have a decent little army which combines well with other castle figures. And it is a nostalgic figure that has been updated to modern designed standards well without going over the top. The torso is great for army building, and far better than the wolfpack torso that appeared in the MTS set as it doesn't have the pouches and the fur which looks odd in the same place if you have more than one figure using it. The legs are great for any castle figure. Same thing with the arms. The hood is the new open type so perfect for castle, LOTR and Star Wars, the cloak is useful. The head, I don't use. I wasn't including accessories when I voted but the shield is shown above, which again is very useful for castle fans, as is the sword. And then there is the wolf too, which even though I ignored when voting for the minfiigure, makes the whole set even better.

I found them quite hard to find on first release. Every store near me that had the new boxes on release day had the wolfpack figure removed. But once the initial hype was over (and combined with people having to pay tax if they sell 30+ items on ebay) when new boxes were put on shelves at random times I found they were easy enough to find.

I'm a castle fan and I have three Beastmasters, but I still voted for Spider-Punk (which I also have). I love the nostalgic stuff, obviously, but I also feel that an updated version of a beloved character/faction of yesteryear doesn't automatically deserve to top a list of current best minifigs -- even if it is as well executed as this Beastmaster. That said, this was a completely expected outcome, and I agree it's an awesome figure. Just not quite as awesome as Spider-Punk.

By in United States,

We've discussed this before but I will once again recommend that, going forward, we pre-populate the first comment in any Brickset Poll Result discussion:

>>>HUWBOT: Sad, predictable, nostalgic, 'clearly wrong because I think so' vote yet again for this Boomer Brickset community clinging to their oldness and wrongness. <<<

We can then get this reductionist tripe out of the way right from the get go so the rest of us can discuss the results and all the other great candidates from the poll.

I love the Beastmaster and the Falconer before him. I have no crazed unreasonable lovelorn fascination with Wolfpack or old Castle themes. I just really liked the look of the figures and I LOVE when CMF include new animals.

BTW, I voted for the Jetpack Racer as I thought this one was well designed and so swooshable.

Lucky you. Here in Hamburg they were immediately scalped; even big stores with. like, ten open display boxes had none available.
Resellers started at ~10 Euros per beastmaster. I BL'd mine for, I believe, 8€. Could have been worse. The Dragonborn Paladin wasn't available for acceptable prices at all.

Indeed, they might consider to move castle figures to PAB or figure packs that are longer available than just 3 months.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Thank you @jkb and @CCC . I now better understand the functional and nostalgic draw of the Beastmaster. I’m a Castle fan but I don’t army build in the conventional sense, so that aspect doesn’t speak to me. And, even though I bought 6105 and 6038 when they were released, I don’t have any special affinity for the theme (perhaps because I was already an adult by then). I don’t rate the Beastmaster aesthetically but then de gustibus non est disputandum.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I can't remember which one I picked but I'm fairly certain it was space related. I wanted to vote for the orange racecar minifig but it was not in the choice, the execution on the green racecar minifig was very tempting as well...

The question of accessories is quite relevant to people like me. I.e. any CMF with a new animal is a Fantastic minifig (whatever the minifig looks like). While nice, I could not care less about the Beastmaster if it would not come with the wolf. Classic Spacemen (Blacktron included) do no come with animal but they are just nice on their own (nothing need to be added, no arm prints, no dual molded legs, just the same old crest, the basic face and preferably a new colour!)

All in all, the final selection is reasonably good.

I didn’t tally the Beastmasters, so I know I got more than three, but all I can say for sure is the three I got in the clearance aisle from checking codes “just in case”. Honestly did not expect to find any that time, but probably nobody else was making a point of checking that area of the store. Dragonborn I got lucky on, as I chanced on _four_ cases that were stocked to one store. They weren’t all full, but I got twelve Dragonborn and nine Mindflayers in that purchase alone. Then I bought a full case later on, so I ended up with 15 Dragonborn, and could have picked up probably another 30-50 if I’d really wanted to. But I was all about the Mindflayers, which I got 41.9 of (one was missing a hand when I opened the box).

I think that depends on exactly how you measure the size. Certainly 71029-6 would end up in the top five, as it currently stands. I think 71025-16 and 71029-1 would also be on that list. 71020-6 would definitely fall behind the paddle boarder, just for the lack of matching paddle board. However, there’s only one CMF that I could identify visually from 10’ away. I’d have to check to say for sure, but I’m not sure this one could even fit inside the current box without deforming one of the parts. I never found a Mr. Gold, but if you dumped out a case of S10, I wouldn’t even have to pause before pointing out which three contained 71001-2. If there’s any other CMF that’s larger than one of those five, it’s currently escaping my mind.

Not a big surprise going by to the comments of the related poll post. Although we've had some surprises before.

All the figures of series 27 are winners to me. I nominated the Longboarder and voted for the Quartermaster.

I also bought eight of the Spider-Verse figures earlier this month. Nice to see some of them make it to the final selection with Hobie on number three.

I also considered voting for the ghost. I mean that's one that can pop up in any theme. Oh what fun I had with the first version! :-D

Since I can't get out on a regular basis, I've been ordering one of the six-packs on lego.com. If there are still ones I want from the series, I just order the ones I didn't get and couldn't find during one of my limited opportunities to leave the house on Bricklink. Unless I want the whole series, then I just order that on eBay instead of buying any from Lego or any retailers.
