I did not buy a lot of sets from 2025. That doesn’t mean I didn’t buy a lot of Lego in 2025… but I haven’t bought a ton of sets from this year. And furthermore, I have not built many of the sets that I have, from 10355, to 43279. But still, here’s the list:

I am sure that I will love 43279, and I thoroughly loved 910050, but for things that I have built, that is my choice. It is truly an outstanding build. Below $50 is pretty tough. 10349 was cute and nice, but 10363 is the choice. For favorite GWP, it really isn’t a contest. I got several this year, but I still haven’t gotten 40767. I will most certainly in the future. There are two minifigures this year that I truly love, both as outstanding minifigures, and for custom potential. Both hit that mark extremely well, but the Beastmaster just edges https://brickset.com/minifigs/sw1424/obi-wan-kenobi-clone-wars-printed-arms-and-legs. Both are definitely worthy.

Favorite set: 72046 Game Boy. Printed parts only, amazing techniques, incredible building experience, as faithful as can be to the real console. It's just one of the best sets I've ever owned.

It was weird using the filters on the query as many of the minifigs (but not all) are apparently categorized by overarching group membership as opposed to their originating set’s LEGO theme.

I would also like to point out that Dreamzzz seems to have the best collection of minifigs each year. I would happily support many of those.

I based all my choices off the sets I got this year... which are more limited than some of the others, so it looks like a lot of my choices aren't popular, heh. In particular, I really liked a lot of the Creator 3 in 1 animals they did this year.

Classic Space is well before my time and I never had any actual kits as a kid anyway, so no nostalgia element, but the Blacktron ship just plain appeals to me as a really cool spaceship. The Acclamator has been one of my favourites of the midi line, and I truly do love the midi line. The Sega *Megadrive* controller was very much nostalgia-bait for me - the Megadrive was my family’s first console when I was very small, and we played countless hours of Sonic and Sonic 2 - but I do think the build is great, and I loved that they provided the stickers for each region. One is the best Dreamzzz minifig in an extremely crowded field of excellent Dreamzzz minifigs.

Favourite set: 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine - one of the few times I bought a day one purchase. I know it is overpriced from a PPP ratio and any other metric you could use, but my son and his friends literally couldn’t believe you could build something like this out of LEGO. It’s how I gave him Harry Potter collectible minifigures I’d saved for him since he was a baby, I still give him micro machines and other small treats through it. It would have blown my mind as a kid too.

Favourite set < $50: 60458 Pizza vs. Fire Truck Race Car Pack - I bought the entire 3 set line of soap box racers, I was hoping they’d continue but with the baby racers looking like their replacement it seems increasingly unlikely. My son loves them. I may look at building MOCs to accompany the 6 racers we got.

Favourite GWP: 40707 Year of the Snake - 11 down, 1 to go with the Year of a Horse (which looks terrible btw, a sad note to end a great little series). Collecting small sets over 12 years that perfectly accompany each other is something I may never do again.

Favoutite Minifigure: 71048-10 Pirate Quartermaster - I love the cockatoo, so I guess the minifigure is just an accessory to part I really like. I have a foul mouthed pink galah as a pet in childhood, so I hope this gets recoloured to pink with a grey crest at some point in the future.

In my opinion, 2025 was kind of a "meh" year. Above all, I felt like there was way too much unimaginative, licensed stuff. However, it's possible (if not probable) that I only felt this way due to the inevitable comparison to the last few years, which had some truly outstanding sets.

That said...

What is your favourite set released in 2025?

1) 10350 - Tudor Corner

Even though the modular sets aren't a big passion of mine, I still think that Tudor Corner is an exceptionally good set. There's not much to dislike about it.

2) 43263 - Beauty and the Beast Castle

I don't own it but it undeniably looks impressive. I recall looking at the images of it for quite some time and being absorbed in all of the details.

3) 10355 - Blacktron Renegade

Again, I don't own it but it looks incredible. It's fun being reminded of how striking and unique the sets from the 80's and 90's were. I think the Blacktron Renegade would probably win by itself against all of the 2025 Star Wars sets combined in a style competition.

4) 31167 - Haunted Mansion

It's small but all three builds are fun. It's designed well, has four unique minifigures (five, with the skeleton) and the decorated parts are printed (which is a big bonus).

5) 10365 - Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship

As a castle / pirate enthusiast, I was looking forward to this despite not having any real interest in the franchise. That said, I have mixed feelings on it and despite actually owning it, I can't reasonably place it in my top three, so it just gets an honorable mention.

No killers this year for me on the GWP and minifig (but I have the best minifig of 2026 already in mind), and I was surprised how many great not-so-big sets acrtually cost more than $50. Hence the Lambo Duo Pack because the build of that Revuelto is a master-class in LEGO geometry and the so-so little adjustments you just need.

10355 Blacktron Renegade. Bought 6 plus a parts order and it turned it all into an exhibit of 3x5 plates with New Monorail (see it on Facebook). The small yellow road signs making the symbol are a great innovation, needing no stickers.
21358 Minifigure Vending Machine. Bought 2 and used the balls as yellow/blue for a cat-themed LEGO Technic pneumatic ball contraption. Lovely Space minifigs in Teal and Gold.
31163 Playful Cat. Bought 6. We did a "bring a cat or mod thereof" at the STEAM show in the UK and there were many on display. Such a versatile kit as cat, dog or pigeon and useful grey pieces for moonscape in due course.
42198 Bush Plane. Bought 2 but more possible. One of the best small Technic kits ever. A lot more to it than the box shows. A good clutch of cogs inside with the push-to-rotate function. The best introduction I can think of for anyone over the age of 8 (or even 7 for experienced builders).
