Series 4 Mixels images, at last
Posted by Huw,
I've just read over on French site Hoth Bricks that our favourite German toy shop website has just published pictures of Speed Champions sets. Whilst checking them out I noticed that they have also added images of series 4 Mixels.
We can now see exactly what the white and lime green Orbitronz, Infernites v2 and the dark blue and glow-in-the-dark Glowkies look like! And I have to say, I like what I see, particularly Burnard's eyes (pictured right). The site claims they'll be available in February. Can't wait!
I've added the box art images of the Speed Champions sets to the database and I have to say that they look much better than they did in the other pictures we had of them. The four car-only sets in particular look like must-haves now; I wasn't sure about them before although it does appear that they rely heavily on stickers to give them their sleek appearance. I hope the canopy pieces are printed, it looks like they are: it would be nigh-on impossible to apply stickers to their curved surface otherwise

What's 41527 Rokit supposed to be? Is that some kind of SP3-style dome city on his head?
^ Best guess: It's an electronic brain.
Thanks so much! http://www.mixels.wikia.com is already busy trying to get these images up.
These look pretty awesome.
I was pretty disappointed with series 3, so I'm really excited to see series 4 pictures.
These may rival series 1 as the best, IMHO, and I can't wait to get my hands on them!
Finally, some nice looking cars!!
I may just have to get those glow-in-the-dark ones.
I have liked a few of the Mixels here and there--well except for the Spikels, I had to get all three of those--but this series has outdone every other to this point. Cute critters, fantastic parts selection, and even though lime is my least favorite of the greens, I am really liking the Orbitronz.
If I had to choose any to not get, it would be the Infernites v2: while cute, they don't quite have the same gotta-catch-'em-all appeal as the others.
I love these little guys, I think the favourites have got to be the Glowkies - because I'm a sucker for phosphorescent (i.e. glow in the dark) pieces. I would have liked their teeth to be GITD as well, but I suppose you can have too much of a good thing (that and the large Chima barbs are probably the wrong plastic to accept phosphorescent colouring?)
Are those 1x1 tiles with eye print on Vampos GITD? It's not very clear on Brickset's main image, but I think if you look at the box art, they might just be! :-)
The others are pretty cool I suppose and I will get them, but the Glowkies are the most attractive to me.
Those orbitrons... I may actually get all of those. I'll get at least the one glow in the dark one with the dk blue slopes (to make my now numerous HK droids in dark blue instead of regular blue). That infernite that's pictured here looks good. Although I have to ask , why make more lime green mixels? I would rather see regular or dark green ones (to make more droids , again. Plus I like dark green best of the greens.) and also , it'd be cool to get a dark red mixel , if only to see dark red slopes.
Every series of Mixels gets better and better. Love that there is a glow-in-the-dark bits in them and I love dark blue and lime green! Hope they are still $5.
And new windshields are always nice.
^while I see that the mixels could be more , it would really crimp their sales. The attractiveness of the mixels comes partly from their cheap price. Even for those of us that only want parts (like me , for slopes although I do keep them together..)
It's odd that we're getting more Infernites, but I do really like Meltus...
These Mixels look "bigger" like they have more pieces. LEGO sells, these would still sell for $6-7 just like mini figures are still being sold out at $4.
The Orbitronz seem like they might be the mutant cousins of Kerbals. Or perhaps the end result of their evolution after millions of years hurtling through space after a failed mission to Duna...
@TheGreenBrickGiant: These are actually about the same size as the others. Maybe it's the pictures though...
Love the Mixels. S4 is certainly for me. :-)
Wow, Boogly's got a brand new tooth mold. Looks cool for crenelated building details or and spiky SNOT use.
@Jedijon - Nope, no new tooth moulds on Boogly, just these tooth moulds which were both introduced this year as far as I can see:

:-)
So those really are supposed to be infernites? The initial three didn't appeal at all, but seeing their other tribe members makes me warm up to them again.
But what is Boogly based on? The rabbit from Monty Pythons and the Holy Grail? With one eye?
Any chance these Mixels might actually be available in the Netherlands for once?
Guys, Burnard's eyes are just bowl pieces with the regular eyes in them! Isn't it plain to see? :S
^I think Huw was the only person that even mentioned Burnard's eyes. No one else in the comments said anything about it... either way, yes it is obvious they are the new bowl piece with the usual eyes in them. But it still looks neat together like that.
I picked up a handful of mixels for my daughter. We'll see what she thinks come Christmas.
I don't want to spoil excitement about these new mixels, but while their designers had some good ideas - I am referring to the domes, space-y stuff and the bat wings - they seem to have run out of long legs and arms - or what? Most of the creatures have the same stumpy, short legs, using the same connections. I miss the variety of long legs and arms using those 1x2 stud wide mixel joints. Where did they go? The lower halves of those mixels look all alike, and I don't like that.
With a name like Niksput, one would think it would be red...
Glowkies are awesome, especially Boogly.
I'm not a massive fan of this series on a whole- some of these are quite ugly looking- but of each tribe I have favourites I'll certainly be getting. Niksput, Meltus and Vampos are the cutest of them all, but this series has a very good parts selection overall!
@shirhac- True, I really want to see more of those mini ball joints.
last series, they give us purple parts which i incessantly collect cos u can hardly find useful purple bricks elsewhere without emptying ur wallet. this time, the dark blue parts are getting my attention. the rest are just mediocre to me.
Those translucent dome pieces are gonna be great for spaceships
Okay everyone. Just forget the glow in the dark cheese wedge pieces. They'll crack within a month or so especially if you don't take them apart right after you build them. I had round 1x1 plates that were glow in the dark. They crack badly if left built on something. The cheese wedges crack even when not glow in the dark. So combine the two, just forget it.
Bit tired of Mixels really now. And I've only tended to buy one of each colour so far. Since the adorable Scorpi, the others just don't seem to have the same degree of character.
As for the cars, the double Porsche pack looks like an excellent buy. As for the others, the 458 looks like a nice set, but it looks nothing like an actual 458 - more like those two Porsches again. In fact, neither of those two Ferraris actually look like Ferraris. And the only saving grace for the McLaren P1 is, at the moment, a 50/50 suspicion that it's all done in the new Chima yellow, as it's apparently not the same yellow as the minifig face in the corner of the box art.
I don't much like those new Infernites, named after me or not...
But I will buy all three of the spacey ones. 'Niksput,' gotta love that!
