Series 14 Collectable Minifigures

Posted by ,

Hoth Bricks has provided the first official image of the Hallowe'en themed fourteenth series of the Collectable Minifigures range, featuring four of the figures from the series. According to a rumoured list which appeared earlier in the year these are named the Rocker Monster, Crazy Witch, Skeleton and Vampire Lady.

The full series will be released in October, just in time for Hallowe'en.

Cool, I liked The monster Fighters, I will enjoy these. I am only a bit concerned, that a popularity of series 14 will drop completely after the Halloween.

The skeleton costume resembling the skeleton minifig is a nice touch.

I have to say I don't like the look of most of these at all. :/

Assuming they are using up excess parts or need an excuse to start the moulds up.
That being said,I will probably be investing in the figs that I don't already have a version of.

So EXCITED!

More recruits for my zombie horde. Excellent!

Interesting that they're varying it up a bit. I can see them mining seasonal sets as a source of ideas for a few waves.

Personally, I'm done with collecting them. I've never been a completionist (with the exception of the Simpson's Series 1) and I've only picked up what's interested me; It's just reached a tipping point with me, there's just too much and I've become jaded by it.

^^ That last line is exactly my sentiment, thank you for putting it into words Padraig

Well there's one thing to say, entertainer definitely won't be selling these (due to their views on not selling anything with monsters or witch craft).

Look a great series though, hopefully they won't be short lived.

^ By the looks of them, they are already dead ;-)

And still no purple packaging?? Why repeat colours when there's a relevant colour that's not been used yet?

This looks likes a really great theme.

I was hoping for a Star Wars Force Awakens minifig range at the end of the year! I'll still collect them though!

-OrmskirkBricks, lego does not do star wars collectable minifigures due to legal issues. That's why there are battle packs. They are a way of selling minifigs without selling them on their own.

As for series 14, I'm hyped! I already liked them from the leaks (except the mad scientist), but now they do look better. Its nice to see that the skeleton suit guy really does have a skull mask.

I look forward to collecting them. I'm one of those people who see the simpsons series as an excuse to pause the minifig collecting a bit, as they are technically not part of the collectable minifigure theme.
For series 14 they couldn't have decided on a better (sub?)theme

Awesome! Cannot wait to see the others in the set. :)

Am I the only person that's completely loving these. I mean a trick or treat scene in my village I CAN NOT wait.

I'm definitely going to pick these up. Monster Fighters is one of my favorite themes along with Alien Conquest.

I think it's rather unfair to say this series is just an excuse to reuse leftover molds. All series do, and like all other series, this has new molds as well. Look at the Crazy Witch's hat, for instance.
That being said, I love the look of these figs now that we've seen a few finished ones. The Lady Vampire/Spider Lady looks fantastic!

@Binnekamp - Legal issues have prevented LEGO from making a Star Wars CMS series, at least in the past. Hasbro has the action figure license, so anything LEGO makes must be a building set and not just a bunch of minifigs. That's why Star Wars battlepacks must include a substantial buildable element, as well. Compare that to the old battlepacks LEGO used to sell for non-IP themes like pirates or castle, which really were just four or five minifigs on a card.

I say "in the past" because of course, licenses change over time. The prohibition on action figures under LEGO's Star Wars license has obviously been relaxed to allow constraction sets. That's definitely a new development, because a few years ago the very same idea was posted on Cuusoo, gained a lot of support, and was archived for a licensing conflict. (That was back when LEGO gave reasons for archiving).

Still, even with constraction exception I don't think Hasbro would ever allow LEGO to sell minifigs on their own in a CMS series.

Ah, getting closer to my dream of a MOC for Daft Punk's Around the World video!

Looks like the best series in my opinion!

I'm as excited about these as I was about the second Simpsons series. Absolutely indifferent.
I'll get them to stay complete but one more bleuh series and I might give up.

I might actually be persuaded to collect all of this set (and a few extra as treats for kids at our Halloween party!). They look fab.

The nice thing about the minifigures series is that if you don't like one series then another one will be out in a few months. If you don't like it, don't buy it. WGAF? Save your money or spend it on something else!

By nature, the CMFs are limited editions (as are practically all LEGO sets). The big problem I see with this these is that September and October are prime for anything with Halloween-related, so I wonder if these will languish on shelves through the winter/holiday season before clearanced out to make room for the next series.

@The Wrights
There's only 4 of them shown!!!!

They look cool though!

By in United Kingdom,

These should be available around mid-September in the UK, and will each include codes to unlock them in LEGO Minifigures Online. The good side of this for LEGO is that there are a lot of gamers out there ready to buy them for the code. The bad side of this for the fans is that it costs a lot of money to get one complete Series. :\

I like the look of these a good deal more then the LEGO Movie / Simpsons / Simpsons II Series. The classic Minifigure Series are much better. :)

@Free-Wheel -Bricks: Look on EuroBricks to see all of the images. ;)

I am a HUGE halloween fan and I LOVE these!!! They will look great with my Monster Fighter setups!

Half are gonna be redos/repeats.

By in United States,

Monsters have always been my favorite minifigs. Even though I already have a bunch of similar ones, I can never get enough. Can not wait to have a monster mash at the haunted mansion!

Personally I like this theme and will be adding them to my collection.

I'll get that rocker just for a new guitar print.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I have the zombie from Series 1 and TIL it's pretty rare and one of the most expensive Collectible Minifigure.

Gravatar
By in United States,

For me this is a different sort of CMF. Most series, I have 2 "gotta haves", 3-6 "nice to haves" and the rest just don't interest me. For this one, there's nothing "gotta have" but none that wouldn't fit in to my collection, so I may end up for the first time getting a complete set.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I've never understood the complaints about "repeats" when they're clearly much more like "variations on a theme". For instance, yes, there will be a few different zombies in this series. That's good! Zombies are the kinds of monsters you want in horde, and there's no reason your horde of zombies should all be wearing the same clothes.

Beyond that, you have to keep in mind that the Collectible Minifigures line has been going for FIVE YEARS (yikes!), and so there are a lot of potential buyers today who weren't even old enough to collect some of the previous series, or Monster Fighters for that matter.

My favorite of these four pictured is definitely the skeleton costume! It's a very archetypical Halloween costume as well as a great tribute to classic LEGO imagery. LEGO has been doing a good job with that, between this figure and Scythe Master Ghoultar from the summer Ninjago wave.

@ The Wrights (Comment 2): Those were the prototypes. ;)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I just hope the head for the Werewolf has a painted wolf face like the tiger suit girl, underneath that blocky wolf head. If not, then I may have a use for some chima heads.

The crazy scientist head should be great for making Minions unless the hair is part of the mold.

Another pom-pom colour for the Zombie cheerleader will be great for sports MOC's

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The female vampire would have been good if only she weren't covered in spiders; what was the designer thinking?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^Unless the Werewolf is a single molded head like previous versions. Then there won't be any normal minifigure head.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These might also go along with the Scooby Doo theme!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Venunder: I think the Werewolf head is definitely a mask, but it probably has a reprint of the Lumberjack's face underneath it. I don't think it matters much, anyway, since the mask completely covers up the head.
The Mad Scientist's head is almost certainly one piece. There's no real reason for it to be more than one.

@Sethro3: The werewolf's head is most likely a mask because it is a new piece. If it weren't a mask, they could have reused the Monster Fighters werewolf head and saved some money.

@Huey1: I agree that the spider motif makes no sense, but it looks so terrific that I'll let it slide. Perhaps she's a spider-related monster instead? Time will tell.
