2016 set listing revealed by Amazon.de
Posted by Huw,
A list of sets to be released in the first half of 2016 has been revealed by Amazon.de, which is somewhat surprising given we are not much more than half-way through 2015!
We've resisted reporting on sketchy 2016 information and rumours but now that we have solid data from a reliable source, it's a good time to do so. So, without further ado, here's a list of what we can look forward to, for which I have to thank Allen at TheBrickFan for collating information posted at Eurobricks.
Note that the names have been translated from German and thus might not be correct.
Update: We've been asked to remove the list from this article. Sorry!

I hope Nexo Knights are not the rumored castle series because this is not fantasy but sci-fi (Robo-Horse).
The list looks to be those normal sets excluding the big modulars, exclusives, Seasonals etc.
Like that we are getting American cars in Speed Champions, but where's a MOPAR?
Ow yeah, the mustang and the camaro, an epic battle can start :)
I am looking forward to the Rally car 60113 and the Ferry 60119. Some Speed Champions might be interesting as well.
Having played Lego City Undercover (quite a bit), these two sets make me suspect we may be getting a larger Prison Island set at some point;
Ferry (60119) – EUR 29.99
Prison Island Police Starter Set (60127) – EUR 9.99
A Prison Island would definitely be an original idea from TLG for the city theme (maybe the high crime rates are starting to catch up with them!).
I am so pleased Elves is continuing - with dragons, as I speculated in one of my reviews!
From what I can infer from some judicious Googling I disagree with the title of one of the Princess sets - sadly I don't think it's Belle but a puppy belonging to Cinderella who seems to be called Ballerine in German and Pumpkin in English.
I'm disappointed that we are not getting any new Princess characters unless the castle set includes one - my preference would be Belle or Snow White.
Looking forward to a Cupcake café and supermarket from Friends.
Cautiously optimistic for good Superheroes sets.
I don't think I'll like Nexo Knights. But then it's not really aimed at me!
Oh and I definitely want the Carbon Freezing Chamber!
Glad to see that Technic is squeezing a few 'different' types of things in, in addition to the core of commercial / industrial / agricultural vehicles.
'Rescue-Bot' and 'Escape Vehicle' sound interesting.
Auch...I had my hope for the Carbon Freezing Chamber as a possible epic set, but with a budget of 29,99 and problably some new figures I wouldn't expect much epic. :-/
Personally, I'm quite impressed with the lineup! Various City sets seem interesting in accordance to their price. The Audi and the police interceptor sets also have their share of my attention.
More of the same from City, with the exception of the ferry which is the only real standout there. Good to see Speed Champions continue in a second wave with different muscle car brands too. More Frozen sets in Disney Princess will be very welcomed. No mention of the Corner Deli modular that was on another list though.
A prison set? Add a multitude of zombie minifigs and we have a Walking Dead playset!!
More city and fire from the City line, so that's a pass.
I love the sound of the Deli and Lakeside Villa in the Creator lines. The new Elves sets sound really good, although I was super-excited when I heard about the Friends Party Train (I was thinking, a train for Heartlake City is awesome!) --- but if it's only ten Euros, then it's probably not going to be a super-duper awesome train set.
More Speed Champions sets makes me excited, and those new Ninjago dragons (and the Black Widow set? Hmm) sound great too.
Is the Ford F-150 Raptor supposed to be a super car? From the pictures I can see, it looks like a regular pick up.
I am nonetheless excited to see speed champions continue.
Prison Island sounds interesting....
4 Architecture sets is exciting, and they don't look to be massive. Interesting that we're getting another version of the Burj Khalifa. I'm going to guess that the New York set is either the Statue of Liberty or, more likely, the Chrysler Building. Venice maybe Bridge of Sighs. No idea what the Berlin set could be, unless its the Victory Column or the Reichstsag.
Several sites were speculating that the Deli would be the new modular, but I suspect not at that price...
Interestingly some of the sets were marked on amazon.de as being available 19 December, so just before Christmas. I think the Frozen ones were among those, which might avoid the furore of last year when Lego chose to release them January 1st in the US and UK. I remember reading one article by a mum who flew to Denmark to ensure she got Elsa's Castle in time for her little darling to open on Christmas day!!!
No pirates... Hopefully there will be more in the 2nd half of 2016 then...
Also nice to see a decent amount (well 3 at least) of Original Trilogy SW sets :)
Technic "Rescue-Bot (42045) – EUR 14.99" is wrongly translated.
"Renngleitboot" is racing hydroplane boat
Well... it's about time Technic was a bit more ambitious. Great to see some more variety.
awesome news, im looking forward to the 31050 Deli so I can put it in my Lego city
https://youtu.be/O9i1pSP3FVM
All the Star Wars battle packs sound promising - could be a good way to amass First Order stormies. As far as the Hoth Attack set goes - I have a feeling it's going to be a wampa set as a new build for the wampa cave was seen in the recent Hoth mini-movie.
For the carbon freezing chamber, surely it's got to be a new Lando and hopefully a Leia in Bespin gear- obviously another carbonate Han to add to the collection as well.
Any clues what "TVC 2" might be?
I am definitely interested in nexo knights. Looks like it will have large figures along with regular sets. Similar to knights kingdom II?
Police and Fire men.....AGAIN ! -_-
Oh boy, my bank account better prepare itself...
I'm really keen to know exactly what those Nexo Knights are... Could they be a hybrid Space/Castle theme? Dare I dream of such greatness?
4 sets listed at EUR 69.99 and none that are more. That doesn't seem right.
All the city ones have been done before, even in the last 2-3 years, other than the ferry, which I hope is a car ferry, but at €30 I don't expect it to be. Also like the creator Deli, but that's it. I expect more sets as there is no big sets here.
The police island starter set, usually the starter sets are a few mini figs and a small item like a traffic light etc. Not sure how they are going to show the island prison in a starters set.
Yay, finally a Cloud City set I can actually afford! :D
The battle packs also sound pretty cool.
Are the Nexo Knights the rumoured "Big Bang" sets, or are they something different, as they sound pretty similar.
Honestly, I'll quit my Lego habit if 'Belle’s Royal Carriage (41101) – EUR 9.99' turns out to be right. It won't be Beauty and the Beast... The German 'Ballerine' is the name for Pumpkin, CINDERELLA'S white dog from the palace pet line (just amazon.de Ballerine as a search). Same for 41069, Ariel's Day at the Pool, the title talks about her cat Treasure (Korallina) not Ariel. €7.99 looks too good a price for the Disney line to have the Ariel minidoll included in it... But it would be nice to be proven wrong :)
Sounds like we're due some nice moulded Disney critters for 2016 though!
@Thebrickdoctor: I was hoping for a larger Bespin playset, but I guess this will have to do. Please have Lando in it.
@ mkrey, I too was hoping we would get something bigger, but seeing as there hasn't been any Cloud City since the one from 2003, I think this will be good enough for a start. I do hope they redo some of the other iconic parts of the city though. One can dream...
Going to be expensive, then...
And for anyone who's wondering, Nexo Knights is the new Castle line up, but with a sci-fi twist.
@gmonkey76 I know, right? Mopar vehicles are always overlooked by things like this. Maybe 2017...
The City and Creator sets sound interesting.
Force Awakens battle packs? Suddenly I feel I should refrain from buying Poe's X-Wing until I see exactly what they may be. Time to exercise patience.
Disappointed to see that there are no more future Pirate sets. Bluecoats won't be getting their own ship after all.
There are some repeats of this year in there (Fire Starter set), but there are some interesting things also: Nexo Knights, Marvel:(
Captain America: Civil War 3 (76047);
Iron Skull Submarine Attack (76048);
Avengers Space Mission (76049);
Captain America: Civil War 1 (76050);
Avengers 4 (76064);
Avengers 5 (76065);
Avengers 6 (76066)), Star Wars: (Episode 7: The Force Awakens Villains Battle Pack (75132);
Galactic Empire Battle Pack (75134);
Rebels Battle Pack (75133)). Interesting year, and much better than the things that are yet to come.
Those Nexo Knoghts sound interesting. I can't wait to see pics of them.
Last week I showed my Mum my "wanted" list and said to her, that is really empty. That'll change now... Like others said, I'm looking forward to the ferry. I have the old big Creator one and I love it so I can't wait to see how a small one looks. All the Creator sets are a must buy but from the sound of it it looks like they are better than the ones this year. Other than that thankfully not much that goes on the list.
Of course my excitement lies in imagining the Friends sets (archery and rafting camp!).
The Elves sets sound neat too.
Not too excited about Palace Pets for the Disney Princesses as our household hadn't embraced the brand, but I'll wait for pictures before making a judgment.
I am most curious about the Cinderella and Ariel Junior sets. The Junior sets feature Minifigures. Will Minidolls make their way out of the "girls" branding?
I'm surprised more by the fact there isn't more Nexo Knight sets. I heard it was going to be the big replacement for Chima and there are only five real sets.
They are space knights, they are fantasy knights as Ninjago is fantasy ninja.
So, just minor speculation: Depsite Disney saying Star Wars packs would not be headed to Dimensions, and the rumors that they in fact are, and because Disney owns Marvel...could Avengers 4, 5, and 6 be Dimensions fun packs rather than Battle Packs, because I can't think of battle packs that go with Civil War or Doctor Strange. Who knows. Regardless, I'm super excited fo those Marvek sets! Captain America: Civil War!
BIONICLE and Star Wars sound good. Still no Lamborghini for Speed Champions?
I'm hoping the "Ultimates" in the Nexo Knights line are some type of new toy similar to spinners/airjitzu/speedorz and not constraction sets. I like when they put unique minifigures in the toys, such as the NRG and Airjitzu minifigures.
I am also hoping that Nexo Knights are space, not steampunk.
And it is awesome there are more Ninjago dragons coming. The molded heads of the older dragons don't look quite right next to the new brick built ones. Hopefully they will be brick built.
An Obi-Wan Interceptor, finally!
Welp, I'm mostly excited for the same themes I was excited for this year: Bionicle, Ninjago, and Elves!
The Elves sets in particular seem like they could be really cool. I was hoping to get some adult dragons and now it seems like that's happening! Though I wonder if they'll be brick-built like Ninjago dragons, specialized animal molds like LEGO Castle dragons, or something somewhere in between. Whichever it is, I hope the dragons fit the theme's visual language, with bright colors and detailed eyes.
I wonder if the LEGO Juniors "Snake Duel" and "Lost Temple" sets might be Ninjago-themed? That'd certainly be new territory for that theme. I do know a number of kids watch the show who skew younger than the recommended age range for the regular sets, so adding a few Juniors sets could be a keen decision. The main Ninjago wave seems smaller than usual, but I've heard rumors there might be at least two more sets than were listed here. I can see how the theme might need to cool down a bit after this year's two massive waves of sets.
Nexo Knights also sounds really interesting. I'm guessing the "Ultimate ________" sets could be a series of gimmick-type sets like spinners, Speedorz, and Airjitzu. Constraction is also a possibility, but not sure how likely that'd be at the $10 price point. Or maybe some sort of brick-built figures like the Legend Beasts from LEGO Legends of Chima? In any case, anything with ROBOT HORSES has to be at least somewhat awesome.
And the Friends stuff sounds nice and diverse. I look forward to seeing how the camping-themed stuff is. My mom has been a summer camp counselor for years, so she might take an interest in it if it's very good, although her preferred activity has always been riflery rather than archery!
If the rumored modular is a deli, why would they have a creator deli?
Lots of awesome sets!
Will the Camaro be yellow?
The Ferry intrigues me, although I expected it to be bigger. Nexo Knights as well.
The Avengers Space Mission sounds like it might be rough on my wallet.
Gee, the efforts Lego goes to take the money of a cash strapped college vstudent. The American muscle cars in Speed Champions sound really nice, since unlike a McKlaren or a Ferrari; a Camaro, Mustang and Corvette are common cars where I live. The Star Wars and Marvel stuff sound good, and another year of Bionicle looks like it is in the works. I am bummed by the lack of info on the exclusive sets; especially the lack of an exclusive train again! I want my train darnit Lego!
Also excited to see more Elves sets! Happy to beer the inventor's workshop, but wondering how it will be different from the one a few years ago. Considering the colour scheme of the pop star sets I'm hoping the villa will be suitably impressive.
I'm betting the next 3 Minecraft sets will be based on the Jungle Temple, Desert Temple, and Ocean Monument structures of the game.
Only thing that I don't like about this Nexo Knights (not knowing anything visually) is that they're going with named characters again. I don't know if they have a branding team that's telling them that it helps with recognizability or something, but I've always found that to be a huge eye-roller for me. OOOHHH, those ninjas sure have some cool guy names like "Jace" and "Cole", so COOL! -_-
I get that licensed properties have named characters, but Lego characters are no where near the level of LOTR, Ninja Turtles, etc. Take Ultra Agents - so the villains have names that are all puns related to their superpower. Ok, sure, I get it. The Agents? Snooze..... They're all indistinguishable. I don't care about Rick Action, Chip Coolguy, Jess Rockstar or whatever half-baked names they come up with.
Chima was the worst at this. Durrr, they're crocodiles, right? How about "Cruncher", "Cruger", "Crocwar", "Crockette". No one cares, Lego, they're just minifig army fodder. That'd be like naming individual Star Wars Stormtroopers. Chima's failure really satisfied my schadenfreude because of those dumb names.
I had no problem giving individual names and stories to my M-Tron guys when I was little, that was part of the fun of it. Maybe TLG thinks kids are just stupider these days.
For those wondering what the TVC Star Wars set might be. I know that TVC typically stands for The Vintage Collection which means toys that were originally made by kenner and are being remade. Not sure if this is what it might stand for in this case.
They are give the fantasy knights names because they are going to have a TV show based off of them like Chima and NinajGo and they need characters.
The speed champions corvette, mustang, and audi have me curious. It'd be nice to see them at brick and mortar stores, though, instead of having to buy them online and pay shipping.
"Fire starter set" may not be the best name, either!
Iron Skull Submarine Attack - is this a potential spoiler for an upcoming movie?
Carbon Freezing Chamber... oh, my. Let's hope that this is the beginning of some Bespin love. I can't wait. Lego Ugnaught anyone?
I'm looking forward to the Star Wars Rebels sets and the Disney Frozen sets actually, they are fun to share and play with my daughter.
Fire and police sets??? Finally!!! They have been a long time coming. Maybe they will be well received. I just hope they don't start releasing new fire and police sets every other year.
Well you are in luck Romdam, they don't release fire and police every OTHER year, it's every year! :-p
Where's Mixels?! We know for a fact that there will be Series 7, so I can't see why they wouldn't exist on Amazon yet. To put things into perspective, S7's release date is FEBRUARY, and we have MARCH Captain America: Civil War sets in this list...
I just checked, and they've now been removed from Amazon.de
The Brickset effect strikes again?
Still not seeing any new Advanced Creator train listed... but looking forward to the Mustang GT!
There's quite a lot of interesting stuff there. Things of note:
-Seriously? Another Fire Starter Set?! We just had one 5 freaking months ago!
-Why are there only four Toa in the Bionicle wave?
-More minidoll stuff all around. I approve.
-City continues to rehash itself into oblivion.
-Interesting blend of Star Wars stuff there. Constraction, Cloud City, TFA battle packs, me like.
-There are even more $10 sets than this year.
-Nexo Knights look like fun. I wonder how much is Steampunk, how much is Chima, and how much is KKII.
-Creator's set names are as undescriptive as usual. I hope they look good.
-What's up with the TINY Ninjago wave? They sound good, but wow, that's even less than Rebooted.
-Three midsize sets each for CA: CW and BvS: DoJ. And some other randomness with awesome names. I don't think LEGO favors DC anymore...
-...but they seem to have pulled the plug on Ultra Agents. Boo!
-Minecraft's wave size seems to be decreasing.
-I wonder what the modular will be.
-Speed Champions still chugs along at full speed. I like this.
One last thing: SIX FRICKING YEARS of different police sets in a row. And yet no gas station. Are the designers stuck in a time loop or something? Because I have had ENOUGH of dull police sets and vehicles stopping good CITY stuff like construction from getting made properly.
I have always been a City fan but enough is enough. I have moved on to Playmobil for my kids for City stuff. More variety for them to enjoy. My Lego spending has pretty much come to a halt due to no new ideas. There are more things in a city other than police and fire.
A long list of WANTS. Even before seeing pictures, I know I'll want a good portion of those. Too bad I'm still trying to grab 2014 sets I want...
I do like seeing the prices on the Batman sets. Now I wonder how they will look. and Marvel will cost way too much in comparison, but likely lots of new fun characters for my collection.
Plus, stuff for my daughter with dragons and new princess sets...grr!
Burj yay.
Interesting Architecture has moved on to cities.
I wonder if New York is a small scale skyline or something like Freedom Tower just not announced yet.
Perhaps TVC 2 should be TYC 2 for The Yoda Chronicles 2?
@Kooz:
That could be the set that would have Baron Zemo in it. Sounds cool, though it might be Avengers Assemble: not sure where it would fit into CA: CW amongst the battles between Iron Man, Cap, and Crossbones. But who knows. One set will probably be the Final Battle, one will probably be the Wakanda Institute of Infectious Dieseases, since Black Panther and Falcon are confirmed as figures, and then there may be room for the Submarine with Baron Semo and Crossbones for Hydra.
@PicnicBasketSam: The list from amazon.de was incomplete. The new Bionicle wave will include all six Toa. Kopaka is part of 71311 Kopaka and Melum Unity Set, which was not listed on Amazon. Onua WAS listed on Amazon, but for some reason a lot of the reports (including Brickset's) omitted him. He's set 71309.
There are also apparently two Ninjago sets from a previous list of rumors that were not listed on Amazon, but I don't know what they were.
As far as City is concerned, it's not that the designers are stuck in a time loop, but the fans effectively are. There are ALWAYS new fans growing into LEGO City (it's the LEGO Group's most popular non-licensed theme), and apparently new LEGO City fans tend to want nothing more than a new police station. *shrug* If the police stations weren't selling I'm sure the LEGO Group would stop making them, but I don't see that happening the way things have been going lately.
Anyone else wondering why there is another Burj Khalifa? We had one in 2011 with the 21008. Although the one in this list appears to be 39.99 euros, while the original was 24.99 euros. Seems a bit soon to make a new version while there are so many other landmarks out there.
The Juniors Iron Man vs Loki should be nice for people like me who didn't pick up a set with Loki when The Avengers came out, especially at that price point. I wonder if the Juniors Cinderella's Fairy Tale Coach will use the minifigure or minidoll format, as the former would be a first for a Disney princess.
Very excited at the prospect of the Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro, especially at that scale of miniaturization. Interesting that the Camaro and F-150 Raptor are priced quite a bit higher, which leads me to wonder if they will be introducing a larger scale, or what kind of accessories would be included. I'd certainly like to see a workshop setting in a similar vein to the 75911 McLaren Mercedes Pit Stop.
Terribly disappointed that the previously announced 75137 Carbon Freezing Chamber will only be priced at 29.99 euros, as I was hoping for a large diorama (maybe $80+). At the very least, we should get some nice minifigures though. The 75136 Droid Escape Pod being at the same price should mean it's quite substantial however.
I think the architecture sets have got more detailed so a new Burj could be a good idea. Some of the early ones were basically a few 2 by 4 bricks piled up with a plate declaring it to be the Willis Tower or something.
New Burj is a must buy for me.
So will we only get one wave of scooby-doo sets?
Would be a great theme to continue...
went to Slough last week for a 2016 first half preview, signed an NDA, all a bit silly really
Gnnnnnnhhhaaaaaaa. Does anyone have the list?
I memorized a few before the list went bye bye, plus got a screenshot of the Marvel superheroes sets. I'm golden. When I saw the list was down, I knew why, but it's a bit silly considering how much of it was speculation. However, Huw, I'd like to comment that I like how Brickset cooperates with Lego. Some websites (for example) kept the leaked Force Awakens sets as their website headlines to gain views and popularity, but I respect Brickset's way of doing business. Also, won't the Force Awakens sets be revealed officially on Monday of next week?
HEY! Just2Good has just revealed over on Eurobricks' DC forum that the $9.99 sets will all be racers, and hinted that possible sets with figures include a 1966 Catwoman Minifigure and a Pigtails Harley Quinn. No word on Marvel yet, though he said all will be revealed for the Racers in a few weeks.
Probably better for the list to be gone. So far away before they'll actually come out, not even all sets for this year have hit the shelves.
No MOPAR? Please!!! Chevrolet and Ford sound good however, we need to complete the trio! ??
@ Aegis2000: But you didn't mention Iron Skull himself in the Iron Skull Submarine set. Iron Skull (aka Red Skull in an armored suit) hasn't been linked to CA:CW yet as far as I know. So this could be a non-movie-related set.
LEGO Ford Raptor, for $10? Count me in! Will this be the older generation or the one that has been announced but not out. Personally, for my budget and my own tastes the Speed Champions/Racers sets are looking the best.
DC and Marvel racers? Sounds like the designers found Oky Wan Kenobi's MOCs. :P Julie Newmar's Catwoman and Pigtails Harley in sets that cheap are definite buys.
I'm not complaining about another Burj Khalifa. The last one was a ton of 1x1 round bricks and three plates with an incredibly inflated price. :/
@cody6268: It sounds like it will be $50, and if rumors are correct, should have a Model A and a garage. No word on if will be the one from 2011-2014 or the new one coming a year from now (likely will have 450-500hp from a 3.5 V6 turbo engine).
@dmm32552
Sorry about that. It turns out it is based on a season one Avengers Assemble episode in which Captain America disguises himself as the Marvek villain Grim Reaper, along with another disguised Avenger, to infiltrate the sub. Definitely not Captain America: Civil War. Got a little ahead of myself there.
But the racers are legit!
Nooo! I'm too late!
Can anyone tell me the Star Wars sets, or is that illegal as well after the original list was removed?
^Some are mentioned on Eurobricks. Page 9.
I feel that the speed champions wave 2 was a bit of a waste. They got the licences to the three normal car companies that are most associated with supercars, when there are still tons of full on supercar companies out there to get licences to! Come on its called speed champions for a reason!
Maybe we will see a 2nd wave for summer, like the Racers (more or less a slight reboot) theme did between 2005 and 2010.
^ We can hope
I'm excited for the ONE PT ship we get, which is one we haven't seen since 2005.
Speed Champions, the American cars are a must-have. Too iconic to pass up.
