German catalogue reveals Elves, Speed Champions and more
Posted by Huw,
Flickr user carlboettcher has posted photos of pages in the 2016 German consumer catalogue showing many hitherto unseen sets, including Elves, Speed Champions, Super Heroes, Bionicle and Minecraft.
Thanks to Aegis2000 for the news.

Giant Man is sick, but why do we need another Avengjet? Couldn't they have just put new figs in the Age of Ultron one?
Oohh, finally, the Corvette. Looks nice, so do the other Speed Champs. Some strange licences, however. I thought they would have gone for Lambo.
If only there was a Pagani...
It seems the only way to get Iron Man Mark 46 is in the Quinjet set... Which is the biggest Marvel set... Even though he is (along with Captain America) the main character in Civil War... Joy!
Elves status: sold.
I love the dragon designs, all those cool accesories and buildings!
Wow Mighty Micro Superheroes.... didn't see that coming. And all with rather crazy expressions. I wanted most of the Speed Champions before I saw pics. Now definitely need to keep my SC collection 100% That's the 2016 budget blown.
Wow, I'm really liking the Civil War sets, although... why on earth is there another Quinjet?! It looks just like the last one.
Like Speed Champs, the smallest Minecraft set, and all of the Elves stuff except for the dragon heads. Ninjago does brick-built dragon heads very nicely- see 70734-1 -but these two-piece deals are ugly.
Bionicle? I didn't see anything that we didn't already have pictures of.
Oh man, the new Elves story arc sounds even more exciting than I'd anticipated:
"Emily Jones sets out with her elven friends on a new mission — which this time is all about dragons! In order to save the life of the newly hatched baby dragon, Emily and the Elves must unite her quickly with her dragon mother, who lives in captivity. Not an easy task! The friends have to make to the search for the Elemental Dragons scattered across Elvendale and restore the broken friendship between dragons and elves. For even Elvendale is in danger!"
The sets themselves also look brilliant. I love the marketplace with post office, library, and blacksmith. The inn also looks incredible. I see a spooky fortress in the background art which is probably where the mother dragon is being held. The dragons themselves look excellent, a great happy medium between the brick-built styling of the LEGO Ninjago dragons and the more lifelike look of the LEGO Castle dragons. Plus a softness and elegance that keeps them consistent with the visual language of the creatures from LEGO Friends and LEGO Elves.
The Giant Man figure is really clever, and I also think the Mighty Micros are adorable! Bane's drill-tank is totally based on 8960 Thunder Driller! Not often we see an allusion to a non-licensed set in a licensed theme. But I don't think these sets will be enough to draw me into collecting Super Heroes sets.
Also, the giant-ant man looks pretty sweet. Is that a new hairpiece on Cap in the set with the Black Panther jet?
They got Crossbones and Black Panther mixed up in their Catalogue descriptions.
I feel like Giant Man was a bit of a spoiler.
And have they announced this Bionicle Netflix show? That's news to me.
Captain Marvel is in the space Avengers set! Nice!
But yes, I could do without *another* Quinjet variation in the Civil War sets.
^I agree with bacon1986 about the spoiler, though it is also somewhat predictable.
I am really digging those Might Micros!
Wish Mixels were here, so we could get Series 8 tribe and set names.
I hope the person who uploaded these sees this and does some magic.
Also really like the mighty micro's, was hoping Bane would turn up in a set soon (missed out on his previous outing).
@bacon1986: Yep, the new LEGO Bionicle and LEGO Friends Netflix series are mentioned in this press release: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/netflix-adds-seven-new-original-series-for-older-kids-bringing-its-global-original-line-up-to-more-than-35-series-for-kids-of-all-ages-300152292.html
I LOVE the new Harley Quinn minifig!!!!! is far the Best DC minifig so far!!!!
Quinjet is definitely unnecessary. After the first Quinjet, the Milano, the Blackbird, the second Quinjet, the Avenjet, and now the Panther Jet (which looks awesome), there's no room at all to display these. Plus, it does look a lot like last years'. I don't see why they didn't just throw another Vision in! Maybe a correct stone color one this time. Oh well. They do look great though, and those Speed Champions are fantastic!
Dragons!!! As much as I like the new Civil War sets, I will be limiting my budget to: Avengers Space Mission, waiting for a few sets where it has (Black Panther, Falcon to round up my Avenger team), SW BP, Assault on Hoth and the following MF (Xwing, Tie Prototype).
Batman & HarleyQuinn and Batpod... in one set! Thank you LEGO!
Just so people are aware, the DC mighty micros are just that...micros..as in short legs. I've seen pictures of them outside the set. Plus wacky expressions, so I'll have to pass on most of them.
But the rest of the Super Heroes line is a must have. And it looks like I won't have to waste my money on the current Quinjet. How different will Black Widow be? It looked like her hair color in a set. I don't like buying sets only for the figures and if I can get some repeats here I'll pass on 2014 SH sets.
And Elves surprisingly is looking good too. My daughter will probably like the dragons since I wouldn't let her play with Smaug...I know, bad dad.
Those Mighty Micros look like rejected designs for Dimensions vehicles. I love them! Like a lot of people, not too stoked about having to shell out for yet another gigantic Quinjet, but other than that I'm hyped for 2016!
I'm happy to see Deadshot. I don't have a Bane minifig, I'll have to pick him up to get a Secret Six together.
Ok so I'm pretty sure the Lego batman cycle chase set is supost to be a suiside squad Lego sets< but
shouldn't be called that since Lego"s a kids toy same thing with the DLC pack in Lego Batman 3 Beyond Gotham with THE SQUAD.
I kind of figured if they made a set for that it would be a Batman set instead of a Suiside Squad set I figured they would do that.
The new Quinjet is probably smaller than it looks but it also looks better than the second one.
plus can't wait for that winter soilder, punisher, falcon, black panther, thanos, giant man, captain marvel, dead shot, war machine, harley quin, and batman v superman.
Mighty Micros... yet another stolen IDEA...
I am loving the new Civil War sets! Giant-Man is a bit of a spoiler, but the construction looks awesome. Finally a Black Widow in a cheap set! New hair piece for Captain America? Also Falcon looks great, and will be a welcome addition to my collection.
That Speed Champions deuce coupe looks rad.
Wow, pumped for Civil War sets! All three are a must have! Giant Man is amazing, and so is Falcon, Black Panther, Crossbones, and Bucky!
All I care about is the fantastic new Harley Quinn, especially after the letdown of the nearly-perfect minifigure that was the Jokerland Harley. Other stuff looks good.
Oh, goodness. Can't wait for the Elves sets!
I was all ready to be happy about the Mighty Micros being an inexpensive way to get Super Hero minifigs, but the doofy faces and short legs (if true) kind of kill it.
The huge Ant Man and the Elves Dragons are admirable for being almost entirely brick built.
Glad to see some good work on most of these, but I only really care to own the CMF 15 line. I can't get over how cool the Satyr's legs are. I might have to put together a little army of those guys.
@The Green Brick Giant
Nice catch! I don't know that one, can you link to it?
I just realized that Winter Soldier's face is just Star Lord's face being reused. I was hoping for a new one. Oh well.
@The Green Brick Giant: I guess you're referring to Okay's DC and Marvel Super Heroes Racers? Bear in mind that neither of those projects even got close to reaching review. So it's not as though they ever would've had a chance of getting made as products through Ideas anyway.
Frankly, the notion that LEGO steals ideas from projects that DO reach review is spurious enough — the idea that designers have nothing better to do than trawl through projects with fewer than 1000 supporters in hopes of hitting on a new product is even more far-fetched. After all, if they can tell the project is viable without it even getting CLOSE to the review threshold, that means its sales potential must be self-evident, so why would they need AFOLs to point it out to them?
@Aanchir
I don't see what's so far-fetched about Lego designers searching through Ideas for good ideas, regardless of their popularity through the format. That seems like a given, even.
The success of a proposal meeting review has basically boiled down to viral marketing. Super Hero Racers may be a fine idea, but without promotion through a blog, fansite, or college campus its unlikely any proposal will ever reach 10,000 within the time limit. And with so many proposals reaching review that have been REJECTED, since when is 10,000 support actually a sign of viability? The Ideas benchmarks have always been arbitrary, they're just high enough that a set can't accidentally enter review without some of the work being done for them.
Its a win-win for Lego, they get to pick and choose virally marketed sets and and sift through the rejects for Changing Seasons, and now DC/Marvel Racers apparently. Why wouldn't they do that?
The new Speed Champions sets come out in April? When the sets we have now came out in March?
Oh boy I really love what I see.
The Civil Wars sets are superb and I really need Black Panther and Crossbones!
And it's good to see the new minifig series in a better quality and new poses. I love the knight even more...for some reason he reminds me of Creighton the Wanderer from Dark Souls 2!
Why, oh why did they have to give the figures from the Mighty Micros those STUPID faces!?!
I thought the Elves line (this coming year) was going to be *great*, and I'm not disappointed. The buildings look beautiful and the dragons look amazing.
I didn't get the last Quinjet, but I will absolutely be buying this one. And oh my gosh, spoiler alert for Ant-Man's character in "Civil War", I'll say that. Hah!
Anyone noticed how the description for the set with the winter soldier+black panther is switched with the one with Crossbones? :) weird.
I love the hourglass piece in the elves sets and like the idea that the mini superheroes sets are a cheap way to get some extra heroe-minifigs (although a bit extra juniorised perhaps)!
And there was I hoping for Swamp Fire Brigade and Hospital Island. Oh well, maybe later in the year.
Starlight Inn looks excellent. Really hoping the small decorated window panes are printed. If so I will probably be getting several of this set.
I like the Speed Champions hot rod. It has a nice Munsters/Addams Family/Rob Zombie look to it
Elves sets look fantastic, and I love the new "Dragons" storyline. These are a must-buy for me, and the Giant man set
Another Quinjet??? Elves looks good though I'm not sure how I feel about the dragons' heads/faces...
Has no one else noticed the amazing new wedge plate in Speed Champions? It's basically http://brickset.com/parts/design-51739 cut in half; you can see it on the yellow Chevrolet Corvette. Looks as if we'll get it in yellow, red and black, at the least -- I'm certain it'll quickly become available in a wide range of colors due to the nature of the piece.
Also: http://brickset.com/parts/design-15070 in pearl gold and (get this) what I assume is olive green.
I guess I'll end up with a Quinjet fleet. Liking the Marvel stuff. I'll likely pass on the little SH cars.
I don't care for the fact that we are getting another quinjet....but Giant Man is welcome and that Falcon looks awesome!
Like the Wither and Iron Golem sets.
@DanRSL: If designers just wanted to look for MOC ideas that didn't have fan support already quantified they could just as easily look at Brickshelf or Flickr. It's not like designers don't know those sites exist. There are a vast number of projects on LEGO Ideas, especially if you don't filter by how much support they've received. And there are much more efficient ways for designers to come up with set ideas than to trudge through a swamp of rejected Ideas projects that never even had to cross their desk in any official capacity.
Some people have compared the Super Heroes Mighty Micros to the mini-vehicles from LEGO Dimensions. Who's to say that the idea couldn't have simply come about from somebody on LEGO's design team realizing "hey, licensed vehicle packs like this could be good as their own products (without the game tie-in)" while LEGO Dimensions was still in development?
Obviously LEGO designers have come up with products long before CUUSOO/IDEAS came to be. But it is odd on timing on some of the sets released vs put up for review. Granted, I can understand LEGO's side in a lot of it, especially with the supposed production schedules. But mini race cars? That seems niche. Granted, I don't follow micromachines/matchbox releases, so maybe it isn't that farfetched after all.
But definitely Super Heroes is a win in 2016. 2015 was hit/miss with me, even with a new movie out (which I still have to rent). But if Widow is similar to the 2015 version, I will not worry about her and just get the new 2016 line.
Wow! Captain America Civil War sets are awesome! The Elves dragons look pretty neat. The Minecraft Wither set looks cool. The Speed Champions sets are definitely must buys.
Quinjet seems VERY small compared to the last one. It looks like it can carry only the pilot and I prefer vehicles that carry more than one minifig.. Giant Man is awesome, though!
