Six sets based on The Angry Birds Movie will be out in April, and now my friend Tungster830 has discovered the teaser website for the theme. On it, there are tons of brand new images of boxes, play features and more, which you can check out after the break!

Update: Perspective-corrected images of the boxes are now in the database.

"Now you can replay all sorts of adventures from LEGO The Angry Birds Movie! Just like the movie and the mobile game, LEGO The Angry Birds Movie sets have all your favorite characters fighting over the eggs. Can Red help the Angry Birds save their eggs from the pigs? Or will King Pig get to have his favorite breakfast after all? Fantastic models with funny features to build, explore and play with in your quest to help the Angry Birds!"

By in United Kingdom,

These look good! But still, people will hate.

OH MY GOD!!!!! Lego hotdog bun!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The best thing I've seen was the hot dog bun

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I like it a lot! And finally we have a real hot-dog! :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Agree Fodder.
The Hot Dog bun is a must have.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well... Not my cup of tea, but I see how people could like it. The only useful MOC peace I'm seeing is the hot dog bun!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not excited for the sets but the egg and hot dog bun elements will be great. The grey egg will be pretty useful

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, that and t,he recovers of the 4 by 6 crate and the crows nest peace

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow. Well, they look like they could be fun, and probably work better than Super Jumpers. But Pig City looks horrible, and the smaller sets don't look a lot better... ship and castle are really cool, though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

There are a few useful pieces, but the sets themselves will not be purchased. Hot dog bun, eggs, light aqua/azure window frames, and the 1x4 tile with wood pattern, if it isn't a sticker.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Hot-dog and eggs - only these things are interesting for me. Very interesting.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

As a MOCer and fan of medieval Lego, King Pig's Castle is much more appealing than the castle of the Power Rangers ... I mean Nexo Knights. The figs are really ugly though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dante - I don't think the Nexo Knights are Power Rangers. It is an original idea.

These pig sets should never have been made. They had been done before by a Lego competitor. My kids got one set with the alleged Lego compatible blocks - just terrible.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Pretty great looking sets. No real interest in them presently (too many other exciting themes to focus on), but like the Prince of Persia and Lone Ranger sets, they're great designs no matter how the movie itself turns out. The designers of these sets deserve a round of applause!

All the pig buildings and vehicles really do a good job fitting the ramshackle look of the ones from the games without being totally flimsy-looking. And there are lots of great play features. Love that the boat's oars and wheel move when you roll it! :D

And I've actually got sort of high hopes for the movie. The trailer I saw didn't look half bad. Better than a lot of animated movie trailers I've seen, at any rate.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like 75823 and 75824, I also might get one of the smaller sets.

I don't get the hate for this theme, I get AB is outdated but the sets look nice.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@mike978 - I call the Knights Kingdom II sets Power Rangers and the Nexo Knights remind me of this older theme. Would have loved good castle theme an not ... this. But I really love the villains :D

Back to topic: why do the birds and pigs have to have arms and legs - would be much closer to the orignial if they were just balls - would also look better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ Ask the animators. It's their fault, not LEGO's. LEGO is just being accurate to the film here.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think these sets are great, in a totally wacky way. (Red having to do anger-management exercises? Super!!) Lots of play features, lots of comic touches, and the overall look of the sets does capture the distinctive "feel" of the original scenarios. Some of the figures aren't perfect, but most of the pigs and at least some of the birds look satisfyingly authentic. And who doesn't want hot-dog buns and egg shapes?

Gravatar
By in United States,

It looks like the catapults are supposed to function like Super Jumpers, with you launching the birds at certain targets to knock things over.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's hard for me to admit, but there are some really great things going on here! Great new parts/parts in new colors!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really was about to just comment by saying "Meh...", but then I saw the hot dog buns...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sorry Dante, I took you comment "King Pig's Castle is much more appealing than the castle of the Power Rangers ... I mean Nexo Knights." To mean you were comparing Nexo Knights to Power Rangers. Anyway back to topic after your detour.
I am sure these sets will sell, but Lego were not the first building system to do Angry Birds. Lego should have told them to stuff it. Lego is not second choice.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ugh, the best thing about this theme is the new parts (excepting the birds and pigs). I'd rather save my money for better themes. My prediction is that Rovio's attempt to revive this once mighty empire will not go so well. Angry Birds is old news.

But of course, these will sell like hotcakes to young kids, which was probably LEGO's target market anyway. Well to each his own I suppose.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hot dog bun! I also like the variety of colors.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

My nieces - in 3 different countries - all love Angry Birds; you couldn't move here in Belgium at Christmas for angry birds merchandise, outnumbered only by Star Wars stuff. We might have moved on but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the film be a massive hit, and the Lego to fly off the shelves. I have one niece in particular who loves Friends Lego, and she can't wait to move on and get her hands on this lot.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I noticed a really neat little painting palette in those images. Now my dream of a Bob Ross MOC can come true!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Honestly they look like fun but with other themes a priority will not likely buy a whole lot of these. Certainly echo others that there are some fun looking elements. I kind of even like the characters.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My eyes! MY EYES!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm guessing these are all related to the movie. Still baffles me that they are making a movie out of Angry Birds, but then I didn't think they could pull off a Lego movie either.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Rare White Ape: The brush and palette have been available since the Series 4 Artist CMF back in 2011 ;)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Jeez louise, whose bright idea were these?

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

I can see these being popular with kids but I am only interested in some pieces like many here (hot dog bun, eggs, paintbrush and palette).

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Lots of neat pieces for us AFOLs, and the sets all look very playable too. I'm still curious as to how popular they will be.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Are those printed can lid things new?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@magykfyre : Those printed soda can tops were created for the Simpsons theme.

I spot a new piece for the bottom half of the balloons - looks more elongated than the existing inverted half dome that's been used for potted plants and the balloon in the Ferris Wheel.

Those 1x4 tiles with wood grain indeed appear to be printed considering there's at least four of them per set. And there's the Plume Feathers with Pin in a new color - green. And the red umbrella!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The selfish part of me hopes this fails so I can buy alot of discounted parts packs. I don't see myself purchasing any sets to put together. Hopefully the kids enjoy the play features of them.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

These sets look fantastic for kids... so much fun, designed with so many integral play features.

I have never played Angry Birds, so am very ignorant of the theme, but I do have a partiality for steam punk and ships, so that pirate ship is looking very interesting. I found the excitement for the hot dog bun hilarious, so have enjoyed the comments thoroughly ;P

Gravatar
By in United States,

I notice two things when I see these in higher resolution. One, they look very simple and juniorized. Whatever though, juniorized sets exist and serve their own purpose.

The other is that these do not look like Lego. If I didn't know this line was coming, I would assume at a glance that these were Mega Bloks or some other such garbage.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I like them! I think they're creative and fun! How can a hot dog bun be the only good thing about these? Lego's sure to bring traditional castles back sometime - in the meantime, themes like this expand the creators' repertoires! I'd like 75823 as a treehouse for some forest folk!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The hot dog bun is the best part by far. Huzzah! HOT DOG BUNS!!! HOT DOG BUNS!!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I like it! Not traditional lego, but that pirate ship is quirky and fun. Yes, also love the hotdog roll :)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Regardless of the source material, I think these look like some great, fun, well-constructed playsets for kids.

One question: why is the hot dog in the bun still red? LEGO doesn't seem to be in favor of cooked meat… always cook your meat, kids!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Lone Ranger sets were, by and large, wonderful. And obviously there was still an underlying western theme us AFOLs could enjoy.

This stuff.... yuck. I just don't get it at all. To be fair it looks like they've done the best they can with the brief but blimey it's an abomination.

Being cynical I suspect Rovio must have underwritten a large chunk of this.

Of course Lego is Lego is Lego but between this and the Simpsons minifigs the purity is being eroded over time and it seems like new moulds are the answer to everything.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Amused to see Lego invest so much time and effort on this theme and the end result is most of the positive comments relate to the hotdog bun & eggs.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

As both a Lego and Angry Birds fan, I CANT WAIT! The designs of the sets look to be very true to the film (at least the ship), and the play features fit in nicely with the concept that Angry Birds was built around--destruction, tons of it. =P A lot of elements to be knocked over, especially with the castle, while maintaining the stability of the sets.

I personally love how the ship and the castle look so...un-Lego like. There are virtually no exposed studs from the pictures, and I'm sure if I show those sets to my friends who are not into lego at all they wouldn't think that they were in fact lego, especially the ship, with its rounded front and the many curved elements used throughout.

I'm very interested to see how the King pig's cape fits onto him. I am presuming a cloth piece which would wrap around the arms, and this is of great interest as it could possibly pave the way for the same kind of cape to be used on regular minifigs, like many other custom minifigs. I dont recall any minfig now using this technique to attach capes...yet.

On a side note, it is also interesting to see that they gave the king a beard...none of the king pigs that Rovio had designed had beards.

As for the movie, I'm sure that it wouldn't disappoint. Can't wait for more trailers to come our way! =D

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just realized... The pig kings coat could easily be recovered and used as a trench coat if they just cut the collar down... Does this mean we will finally get official lego trench coats!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The castle is good, but the real standout is the hot dog bun which should have been made for Series 13...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Two main observations.

1. So Leonard is the king?

2.And the bad piggies are cannibals ???

Gravatar
By in United States,

@DanRSL: This is the problem with the term "Juniorized" (and why I'm glad it's filtered on Eurobricks)—when you use it to describe anything that looks remotely childish, it completely loses its meaning. "Juniorized" refers to when bigger parts are used in the place of smaller parts, like in the ACTUAL Juniors sets (as well as a lot of themes in the late '90s or early '00s). These? These aren't even close to being juniorized. They feature a LOT of very complex building techniques and functions as well as small parts, and where larger parts are used, it's generally for a reason—to give the sets a stronger structure so that they don't completely fall to pieces when you catapult the birds into them.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

obvious people will look at these sets for unique parts as they don't look all that appealing. i am bracing for wave after wave of a record number of new sets this year, so i'll definitely save up for better looking ones.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Lyichir

Actually, I intended the use of "juniorized" exactly the way you explain - larger parts used for simplicity. Specifically the engine on the Pig Car, the roof on Bird Island Egg Heist and frankly the entirety of that ship, which even has a small child hand displaying the play features. (Even though I can see the roof and ship are made of apparently normal pieces, they appear juniorized at a glance).

It's funny, actually, because Omega X has even echoed my sentiments, but apparently he takes this as a positive thing. I imagine for destructibility purposes the sets are kind of simple and sparse, and while they may serve their intended purpose, just like Omega X says, they appear "un-Lego like". With the GIANT figure molds and the simple designs, these almost look like Playmobil.

The look, the cynical commercialism from the Angry Birds franchise, this whole line just feels so wrong.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want the hot dog AND the soda can tops...

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Well I believe that these sets are hardly "simple", as there are many nice details included, from the engine details of the plane to the interior of the ship. The style of the theme is hardly the norm, and the fact that the designers managed to pull it off so seamlessly with lego is a great achievement in itself which I really appreciate. The play features are nicely done too, especially the ship. The sets do look simple at a glance, but a lot of techniques are involved, especially with the ship's curved front.

It could be that my experience as an Angry Birds fan led me to feel that this theme had captured the game and movie's essence accurately and successfully with the style (cartoonish) and play features (flinging birds! toppling buildings!).

About the whole "juniorised" debate though, let us all admit that they are a neccessity in every theme, from Star Wars to Nexo Knights. Imo this theme does not have too much of those pieces, figures aside.

If I may I would compare this theme with Simpsons. They both are based on a cartoonish style, both have many new molds for the figures, both have sets that look "simple"at first glance (as you would expect from a cartoon). The drastic difference in the reactions of the two themes, as I hazard a guess, would be due to the fanbases, as Simpsons is more widely known and has more fans than Angry Birds, which many view as "outdated" or "lame", much to my annoyance =P

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Look forward to picking these up at garage sales in three years time.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome hotdog bun!!! The sets are okay, but they could have done better.
