German football players identities revealed

Posted by ,

They were supposed to remain a secret until 10am CEST today but it seems the German Football Association dropped the ball (see what I did there?) and posted a picture on their server ahead of time.

A reader of Promobricks found it last night and it's now all over the Internet. What's more, Robert on Eurobricks has guessed the players' names:

The series will be available in May, most likely in Germany only although there are rumours that they will also be available in all European brand stores. However I can't see there being much demand for them in the UK, other than from hardcore collectors like you and me! :-)

As I write this the official reveal is less than an hour away. Check back then to see if Robert on Eurobricks was right!

By in United Kingdom,

I'm a football fan,but don't have any desire to get these. It would have made a lot more sense to do France team as they are hosts for Euro 2016. I know you can't have everyone, but no Ozil in that lineup.

By in Ireland,

Yup it's going to be very difficult to find specific figures via the feel method, so if there are bumps, it'd be more reliable. I count 4 of them with the new Superman/Captain America hair, in 4 different colours. I really like that hairpiece so it's great to get it in 4 colours, along with the rest of the characters. Aw, would love these to be available in Ireland, chances are next to zero since we don't have even one brand store. :(

By in Australia,

Most of them have so many lines on their faces that they look old and inaccurate, particularly the coach. I thought Lego would have stopped making faces like that after the complaints about Luke Skywalker's latest iteration.

By in Ireland,

@Huey1 Yes, I agree 100%, I was the first to complain after they made me look as old as Palpatine. I may be older now, but I'm not THAT old :P

German, yet not the biggest football fan. But as I thought - lovely hairstyles! I will definitely buy a few of those minifigs.

Not sure about the names so far though. Pretty sure Gomez is actually Özil, Podolski is Götze, Schweinsteiger looks more like Müller... but who knows, we'll see. :D

The lines on their faces do throw you, don't they? I never thought I'd say this, but they're *overly* detailed. There's too much paint on their heads, they just look strange.

It's nice to have a variety of skin tones and expressions, but otherwise I'm sure a lot of people won't care at all, myself included.

I wonder if so late after the world cup, is it even worth it?

what lego need to make is a champions league winners team plus a lego style trophy and footballs with each player, then heads might turn...
