Supergirl Dimensions pack: first images
Posted by Huw,
Today, LEGO has published instructions for the Supergirl Dimensions pack, 71340, which provides us with our first glimpse of it.
It appears that the minifig is much the same as the one in last year's 76040 Brainiac Attack: legs and torso seem identical but the head and hair are different which will of course make the pack an essential purchase for Super Heroes minifig collectors.
I have no idea when it will be released; June perhaps? The E3 gaming convention is just around the corner, so maybe it will be an exclusive promotional item available from there. It doesn't come with a vehicle or gadget and the base is gold instead of blue, after all...

Looks like some kind of giveaway or special edition. All other dimensions figures have a trans-blue base and she has a trans-gold one.
She also doesn't have a vehicle like with the other fun packs.
I wish it had been more influenced by the Melissa Benoist version, that I would have paid for!
Do we know how well Lego Dimensions is selling, in general?
Yea i also think it might be a promo. I do hope the green arrow pack will be revealed soon and I hope it has a hood on him.
E3 promo. :/
@Ricardo616 Same here!
Maybe the new base goes with a "Series 2" of figures and expansions.
I'm also betting that the orange base is for all series two packs. And I'm pretty sure people found that this is gonna start being distributed bundled into the starter pack
That's a horrible idea if this is an E3 promo, unless the only thing "exclusive" is the unique base. There has to be a wide release of Supergirl, especially if she doesn't have the overly done unique music Superman and wonder woman have while they are flying.
All I'm seeing is a trans-yellow piece, aka CLASSIC SPACE GOODNESS.
I seriously hope that this is not going to be an exclusive release. This locks out a decent amount of content for players that had purchased packs beforehand, makes the gimmick of collecting everything a nightmare, and most likely will just wind up in the hands of scalpers. If not, I'm in for purchasing the pack!
Cute but I am more interested in a combo of both Lord Vortech and Sauron.
Im guessing that it's maybe for a sequel to Lego Dimensions. I know they said there wouldn't be another toy pad for at least 3 years, but that doesn't mean they're won't be another game with figures to start.
The reason there's no vehicle in the instructions is because the instructions in the boxes of Dimensions packs are only for the minifigures. She probably does come with a vehicle... the yellow tag appears to be a new thing setting apart the second series of packs.
This isn't going to be a con exclusive.
It is smaller than the past ones. http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6129872.pdf
It seems to lack the ads and parts list.
Why is everyone calling this the second series? Dimension sets are being released in "waves". 4 waves have been released so far with the fourth wave being released just in March. The fifth wave is about to be released in the next few weeks and includes slimer from the ghost busters (I want). It's very possible that all sixth wave sets will have gold disks and that her vehicle instructions are to be found in the game.
Let's stop calling it a second series. Just sayin
I love Lego dimensions and have every level pack, team pack and fun pack to date, when you have all 80+ figures, vehicles, gadgets etc it makes for quite an impressive display!!! I have wave 5 preordered and hope E3 will see more dimensions news. I think we might see a new dimensions core game that uses the existing toypad. It might release as a new starter pack with pieces to build a new portal on to the existing toypad and 3 different characters to play the core game with then there will be level, team and fun packs to go with the new game. It would make sense to give them different coloured bases to distinguish them from the first games characters although I would hope all characters will be compatible with both games. This is all hypothetical of course and just my thoughts as to what might happen, we'll have to wait and see.
In game Supergirl can use Red Lantern powers just so ya'll know
Second Series
No but seriously I'd say there's a distinction between the waves that were known at the start, that allow completion of all the content in the game at the start, and the characters and content added in the upgrades that support waves beyond what's shown on the game box. I just said "series 2" because I was agreeing with the comment above me, where it was posited that blue waves are out and orange waves are in.
The boxes could take a different coloration to shake things up and cue retailers in to what's current stock and what to phase out, new game levels (that won't come cheap) could end up starting on a second level selection wheel.
The old levels aren't about to get sprinkled with things for any characters with new abilities to do, and they sure aren't going to let new levels be 100%ed with characters with existing abilities. Orange, and lets get the gold talk out of the way immediately, because that is nothing but mars mission transparent orange (the one they don't make chainsaws out of), bases can help to spot the required characters out of a massive sea of a complete dimensions collection.
A new campaign of levels would most probably follow the same trend of several release waves, each getting you closer to the ability to 100% the game, until they're all out, and then the cycle begins over.
And that is why "series 2"
All characters are usable without buying a second campaign, but not all have things to interact with. If you buy the second campaign, maybe a lego set with a new trio of story mode characters, then you keep being right on the edge of being able to do everything until you buy everything again.
I'm not saying that's fact, I'm just thinking like Tt games.
The product page says this is a 'promotional' set - not sure if Huw add this info manually or whether it is scraped from Lego's servers.
I have a silly question, has lego produced building instructions for the WHOLE dimensions set yet. I have bought a set, which was heavily discounted to get a minifig. I have not got and don't want to buy dimensions but I may pick up some cheap figs. The instructions in the box, as on the website show you how to build the minifig (how complicated) but not the mini model. Im sure I can work it out but just asking........also I have only just noticed there are 3 variants pictured on the back.
Instructions no longer available :(
@aleydita Huw didn't add it. It is probably a guess that it is promotional.

All of the sets have instructions for the vehicles as PDFs up on LEGO's site.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that E.T. will be made into a mini-figure! I don't play the game, but I will be buying any packs that peak my interest just for the figures
@kumasawa: It's been reported that Infinity still owns the largest market share in toys-to-life, cemented well by Star Wars in 3.0, but that Dimensions drove the bulk of the 39% segment growth in Q4 2015. http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/toys-to-life-sales-leap-up-39-per-cent-in-2015/0162442
