By in United States,

Is this a pun? Is that a Chopper and a Chopper? That's actually pretty solid, but I don't know if that bike would be regulation if it were considered a Chopper.

They're called "Chopper Cops" because they both know karate

I've always loved the original motorbike design. Better than the newer design.

They’re also identical twins.

Not to be confused with 6324 Chopper Cop, which contains neither helicopter nor chopper motorcycle.

@Maxbricks14: After they introduced the newer bike designs, I remember thinking that the old bike design would make for a pretty good scooter. Then they introduced a scooter.

By in Germany,

Another 'Red Line Era' Police set! Also one of the 666X numbering range, that had some really nice sets.

Actually not much going on here, as both the helicopter and the bike use rather standard designs of it's time, though it's fun, if it's your first time having them.

Always liked the logo style on these. Note, that this was one of the first sets to feature printed helmets (oddly though only the biker cop has one). The same year also saw two further helmet prints: seven stars on a red helmet and three stars with red lines on a blue helmet. Also we got our first printed cap (also with the police logo, but colors reversed).

However the 1993 minifig headgear was not the first ever with printing of cause: Redbeard and Broadside actually hold that honor in 1989 with their iconic bicornes.

EDIT:
It's also worth mentioning, that these were the first 'proper' Town figures to have black gloves, a feature previously only found on Space figures (that's why I'd exclude the Blacktron Racer from 1992's 6648).

Officer 1: "Uh...Dave..."
Officer 2/Dave: "Yeah Bob..."
Officer 1/Bob: "This is NEVER GONNA WORK...Take that back, get a 'bike'; AND NOT A SHWINN NOR HUFFY, and get back here so we can get on patrol...":D

By in United States,

This is getting out of hand, now there are two of them!

By in United States,

Is Chopper Cop higher or lower rank than Axe Cop?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@PurpleDave, @brick_r: I think the might be the same rank. After all, the main use of an axe is to chop...

We need these dudes to track down the BrickLink hackers. It's been 30 hrs and I can't get access.

*squints at set name*

I'm noticing a distinct lack of police sporting mutton chops. Or any manner in which they might have been the focus of this set were they to be present.

By in United States,

I guess I have this set, I recognize all of the special pieces.

By in United States,

For '93 there's some great parts usage and building tricks, like the jumper plates to center the tail and the engine housing made from a 3x2 plate and those great printed panel pieces.
And even if it's just a word over a red line it'll always be my favorite police logo.

By in Australia,

Caught up with them on a rail. Release the Copper Choppers!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm reasonably sure I had this set. I think modern LEGO is better for the range of minifigures, but there's just something about older sets like this which had fewer specialised parts.

But I don’t see C1-10P anywhere!

Tanker, chopper... copper! I mean come on, in for a penny...

Speaking of tankers, who shrunk the steering wheel on the image from a few days back??

I like the effectiveness of the set name. They're both choppers.

Not to be confused with the Town jr set with a trike. That one's singular.

Between the two of them--this one that I knew from catalogues and the later one that I owned, I grew up with a lot of confusion about what choppers had to do with motorcycles (I was a bit sheltered).

As noted above, this isn't an essential set if you have any other helicopter and motorcycle from police sets of this era, but the "red line" police era was far and away the best, so it's lovely.

Can't believe no one's said it yet: "Get to the chopper(s)!"

By in United Kingdom,

I had one of those motorbikes in my childhood Lego collection: but even after browsing the Bricklink catalogue extensively, I have no idea what set it came from, since all of the ones that include it also seem to have pieces that I know for sure that I never owned. Like this one, I definitely never had either of those police officers, or the printed parts. But that just leaves me baffled as to how the bike got into my collection in the first place. It's like that printed brick with the ice lolly / popsicle on it, which I also had but can rule out owning any and all of the sets it came in.

I can only guess that somewhere along the line, before I was old enough to remember, we'd got some used lot of Lego pieces or other and just thrown them in with my 4146's parts, and I'd never realised. It would just, still, be nice to know which specific sets the ones I had originated from.

I technically still have that bike, even. But it's useless now: the clip attaching the two parts of it together broke a while ago, so now I have two halves of a motorcycle. It's a nice piece, so I don't just want to throw it out... but it's not a lot of use in its current state. I mean, I guess if I sit a minifigure on it, with them gripping the handlebars at just the right angle so that the broken piece rests against its other half, it'll at least look as if it's still intact...

I noticed that someone had screwed that up on the tanker car. However, I saw that first back in 2003!

It looks great, sure, but my god it was fragile.

You stole it from me that time you came over. Please send it back.

I think I had a copy of Chopper Cops on VHS when I was in high school.

That motorcycle is an amazing piece, I have a yellow one in set 6622

@ThatBionicleGuy: I'm pretty sure that @kdu2814 is joking, considering that they're in the US and you're in the UK. It's not impossible that one of you used to live on the other side of the pond, but still...

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but, genuine confusion, are you joking? Or do you really think I stole from you? I don't have any memory of doing so, I'd never deliberately steal, but...

I'm just very confused...?

Sorry, this now looks like you replied to a question before I asked it because I decided I didn't like my wording, deleted the post to rethink it before positing again, and you replied in the interim xD;;

But thanks: yeah, I thought that too, but I can't completely rule out them being someone who I used to know over here when I was a very tiny kid, since it would have genuinely been before I can remember. Appreciate the reassurance though, thanks... I just sometimes find it hard to read tone online!

By in Netherlands,

Pretty good, especially in combination with 6344: Jet Speed Justice from the same year.

1990 had it all in 1 set with , but instead of an airplane it had a car + boat trailer 6354: Pursuit Squad

I was going to say that 6379 would like a word with you, but those are white gloves. Still, was that the first instance of non-yellow hands on a Town minifig?

I’m seein’ double here! Four chopper cops!
