Look on the bright side at least the chima ones are better than the DC and Marvel Buildable figures.
I honestly liked the first wave of the chima figures they were simple but looked kinda cool. The second wave looked horrible.

yes, you're right about these being better than DC and Marvel ones but that doesn't change my mind about my dislike for buildable figures.

By in United States,

Say what you want about Chima but they sure put 59 pieces into CHI Gorzan here.

By in United States,

I never paid much attention to the Chima constraction figures, but now that I'm looking at this guy, I can't help but notice some resemblances to 70789.

By in United States,

The colors of his mace and his pose make it look rather like a magical wand

Kinda makes him look like your fairy Groddmother

What do you have against Bionicle? Honestly in my opinion Hero Factory is better because I grew up with it, but Bionicle was a great theme. Honestly without it we would have never gotten many of the Lego stories and shows we have today like Ninjago, Hero Factory, Chima and Nexo Knights.

Yes, go Team Mixels!

Funnily enough, when I first looked at this set I thought it WAS Bionicle.
These kinds of figures all look the same to me.

Then again, Bionicle happened during my dark ages and I have zero connection to it. If I grew up with the theme I might be fond of it as well. Can't really know.

As it is, it (Bionicle, Hero Factory) just looks as strange to me as all the other "weird looking" LEGO that happened during that period (Znap, Galidor, hell even most Technic sets of the era look awful to me - and Technic always used to be my second favorite theme of all time).

What I can say is that I grew up when there were no accompanying LEGO shows on TV. I had my own imagination for stories back then. I have found out recently that there was supposed to be a Fabuland show of some kind, but that wasn't shown in Germany when I was a kid.

By in Netherlands,

I never got into the Chima figs because at the time I thought that CCBS constration figs weren't too characterful. The look of the 2012 Ultrabuild super hero figures and the Ordeal of Fire and Savage Planet waves of Hero Factory didn't win me over with the hollow shelled heads and copy-pasted looking bodies.

Since then I've grown to appreciate the system with Bionicle (2015-2016), especially sets 70786 Gali Master of Water and 71310 Umarak the Hunter for pure character design. And then with the Star Wars figures like 75111 Darth Vader and 75112 General Grievous. Last year in a bulk lot I found a 70200 Chi Laval, and I was positively surprised by the quality when I built it out of curiosity. The build is shaped exactly as a beastial anthropomorphic lion would be with the fur and claws. It can even wear the shield on its back!
So looking back these were well done. Precisely because they each have quite a different shape. Chi Gorzan's heavy physique is quite distinct from say, 70203 Chi Cragger's hunched posture.

Fun fact: this is used in the show as an astral projection of the minifigure version when he powers up with chi. So technically this is minidigure scale!

By the way, to me he will always be a 'Gorilla Tarzan'. The show made him some sort of hippie. Which, considering what real gorilla's are like when they're not driven by the urge to establish dominance, might be what would be left.

(I am not a gorilla expert).

Not a fan of this style of figures, but I love the mace

I have 51 Mixels. It was an obsession to collect as much as I could when they were released. Unfortunately I got into it around season 2 so I only have one season 1.

CHIMA!!!
The time has come for my nerdiness to be unleashed!

So, the Gorillas were probably the most peaceful Tribe in the war-torn land of Chima. They were very in touch with nature, especially flowers. However, they became very angry if you provoked them, which is probably what CHI Gorzan is doing here.

Basically, this entire line of Chima big-figs represents what happens when a resident of Chima places a Chi orb in their Harness. A gigantic hologram-style projection bursts from them for a brief moment, then they can use the abilities that come with the Chi.

These "Chi holograms" could also be projected in other ways. For instance, every 100 years the moon above Chima turns purple, and it will cause the Wolves to become wild. A purple Chi hologram appears briefly above each Wolf when this happens. Another way is what Cragger's sister Crooler, of the Crocodiles, dubbed the "Fog of Destiny." By burning the roots of a Persuader Plant, it would create a smoke that would cause you to fall asleep. Then you would have a lucid dream where you were a Chi hologram and became obsessed with power.

3450.
Some people dont count 5526.
Or 40026.
There’s also, 8827-4.
Which is also 850497.
Or 853600, if you want to avoid lawsuits.
Let’s get back to 21028.
I’m not sure what 3850011 is supposed to be.
There’s also 21042.
70840 is a little on the nose.
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Or 40346!
Aren’t you a little short for a 40367?
854031 just won’t give up.
40519 is back…
Drive a stake in 854082!
5006858 seems crushed.
76261 isn’t quite the same.

It’s not a mace. It’s a +5 toilet brush :~P

By in Canada,

The way this set gets the big paw piece to actually hold something is pretty clever.

I probably had as many Hero Factory sets growing up as I did Bionicles, but their aesthetic is just nowhere near as appealing to me. That plain smoothness is what made them more easily integrated into other themes, though, which I guess was the point of CCBS.
