All those giant bumps can’t help the aerodynamics.

By in New Zealand,

I own 6910 and it looks a lot like this, just on a smaller scale. Maybe 6910 is a micro-remake of this set?

I wish that LEGO would make a special piece for side mirrors. It seeps like that's one piece that could be used on almost any car.

Ah, a set I own! This and 4939 gave my brother and I a lot of happy memories as kids. The opening doors with the 2x2 tiles were such a cool feature back in the day.

@Brickbuilder0937:
Off the top of my head, I think I've used as many as three different designs for side-view mirrors on 6-wide cars. It's not a matter of needing a special element for the Canyonero of sports cars. They just need to design something instead of relying on single-piece solutions like this. Actually, this is better than using the single-finger click hinge, like many sets have used. Add cheese wedges or tiles, and it'll look a lot better.

I remember getting this back in the day and giving it a quick review on www.classic-castle.com on how good of a castle parts pack set this was.

I never gave it a good Blacktron review. Lets do that now, shall we?

The set has too few black, and not much white, with no trans neon green. A terrible parts pack for Blacktron.

Compared to modern 8-wide Speed Champions cars it's really amazing how far the 8-wide sports car standard has come.

This was a popular set back in the day: I have had several show up in bulk bins. It's not a bad thing either, as this set is pretty good.

I got this set soon after I got into Lego when I was a kid. It was the very first set I bought with my own money. At the time, that was a lot of money and it took me a while to save it. I still have it to this day, but currently it is not built. I think I might take it out and rebuild it.

Ahhh, yes. I always thought this was a nice little set, marred by the fact the initial box art of it had the wheels turned in a way that strongly suggested the final build featured functional steering, when in fact it had no such thing. They clearly got (justified) complaints, as they later revised the box art to that seem here, with the front wheels locked going straight ahead, and IIRC they also added a little notation to the set’s product description on LEGO Shop at Home clarifying that this set did not in fact have working steering.

I have this one since last may. It's alright. You get some nice substantial build for your money. I like that the doors open. That said, 6913 Blue Roadster does it better and even fits minifigs.

What a coincidence! I'm during completing my 6743 after 14 years to put in on 6753 trailer with 4939.

I mean if you’re going to announce it in the name like that, don’t be surprised when you get all the speeding tickets

Not to be confused with 6645 ‘Street Sweeper’

It may have functioning doors, but it doesn't look very comfortable inside.

This was a great set for the day. I had a couple from bulk lots.

As a Star Wars fan, can confirm that is not a Speeder.

@NotProfessorWhymzi: If you angle the cinder block to allow air to flow through the holes, that would improve the aerodynamics.

@AverageChimaEnjoyer: You could probably MOC a decent speeder from the parts, especially if you used the wheel hubs for engines.

I'm itching to check rebrickable for this. It's a shame the affiliate 'alternate builds' on the set pages are gone. Anyone know why those were removed?

EDIT: Lookie here, the first result up there: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-15731/niklas1239/6743-tatooine-speeder/
