By in New Zealand,

What has happened to the driver! looks like he's in pain. I guess having your body melted down the size of a 1x1 brick is the reason!

By in Netherlands,

These things were pretty fun. I remember these came with 1 of 3 types of motor. Some were faster, some had more traction. The body of the driver was a little weird, but they all came with cool faces and cooler helmets.

Track not included. Looks like he'll be off roading today.

I had this set NIB in my collection since I was a kid until last year when I finally sold it. It's kinda basic looking for the theme, but it at least had a cool color scheme!

Considering tracks don't move, racing a track has got to be really easy.

As a result of a race gone horribly wrong, Speed Racer’s relative Track had his body crushed and fused into a car. He went mad as a result of the accident. Every waking minute he’s either racing or training, it’s his life now, and he won’t care whose death it is.

I only learned that those parts were racer bodies about 5 years ago. Sad to say, I probably tossed a bunch of them out prior because I didn't think they were Lego. Oops!

By in Canada,

That printed part was used in 3 sets so BL says, and the other two uses were as windscreens.

@StyleCounselor I’ve thrown away or recycled many a valuable LEGO part out of ignorance. At least you tossed cheap parts!

I just read a story about someone discovering that their poured concrete driveway had been stolen, so don't bet on that.

The Drome is a cruel, cruel mistress

By in Poland,

Didn't have any Drome Racers sadly, but had a Xalax which was similar and it was a very cute and funny little set.

I'm not a racers guy, but I have this little dude. I found it in 2007 or something at a pier. Fascinated by seeing a set so far from its era and for so cheap, I bought it. I now have four racers sets; the others are: 1 Xalax, 1 Drome Racers mini polybag and 1 Tiny Turbos car.
Yeah, I'm not a car guy.

This set however has a very cool helmet. I used it for blacktron commanders with a black visor and I even used it as a Venom head with the inside being the Atlantis teeth part. Oh, and trans yellow visor!

The printed slope is great too! The polybag also came with one. And finally, the pull-back motor is fun!

So on the whole one of my less favored sets. But still fun to have.

By in United States,

Would I buy a $200 nostalgia remake of this? Uh.... I think that would just be one of those super Technic cars I have zero interest in. A proportionally scaled expensive remake would be a $40 Stuntz set. Given that I didn't buy any of those... probably not.

I'm not much of a car guy (Speed Champions doesn't do much more me), I'm not much of a Race guy, and I can get my fill of Town/City fairly easily--the one thing about these guys that I find I want to latch onto is their weirdness: those micro-bodies and wacky expressions--of a very 2000s nature--are what make them stand out to me.
