Random set of the day: Laundry Room
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 3202 Laundry Room, released during 1997. It's one of 10 Scala sets produced that year. It contains 42 pieces and 1 minifig.
It's owned by 51 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $48.10, or eBay.

I don't see any Lego in the picture
Twister gone done taken the laundry room away but still left the clothes because they were so last season.
@legodachi: Everything in the picture is Lego; the washtub piece was even pretty common outside of Scala.
‘Help me, My Dad, I’m stuck in the washing machine!’

At the very least, the beetle and the bucket.

Take a look at page 3 in the instructions on brickfactory.info, there's a few familiar parts in this set. Or just look at the inventory on BrickLink, but then you don't have context for their use.

You should be arrested for such a comment. XD
So My Dad came with gifts, but this person (however they relate to me) comes with some kind of weird outdoor laundry?
That seems unfortunate.

Often, I find that's for the best.
The scale of Scala never fails to mess with my brain... the salmon colored bars that the clothes are hanging on... it's the same 9x13 grate used for Castle gates ( 6098 , 8781 ) and perimeter fences ( 5975 , 8191 ).

I have the same problem in the opposite direction, I always think they're much bigger than they actually are
If Friends were out in 1997, those would have been flying off the shelves.
I wish I were cool like her

There's the logo on the box art?

What else could a girl ever need?
What did poor Lottie do to be locked in solitary confinement, with nothing to do but gaze out of that miserable—but cutely festooned—little cell window?

She didn’t sort out colours, just chucked everything in the machine. It’s why everything’s so pink, the reds bled into the whites
Now we need a friends set to complete the pastel colors.
Laughing my ass off reading the witty but still not mean-spirited comments. I for one found Scala to be an amusing and intriguing theme for a lot of reasons and I regard it as a trailblazer that tried to break new grounds for LEGO. It didn't work out in the end but at least it was bold and different.
Worst standard lamp and shade ever!
She’ll be about 40 now and possibly be coming out of her dark age to discover that in the land of Friends she is a colossus.
I’m drinking coca-cola today, baby, and building my afol scala set.

"Look at the size of that washing-machine - that's a 6x6 footprint. That washing-machine alone can comfortably hold a family of four minifigures, and it probably has at some point.

This is my stepladder. I never knew my real ladder."
Tempted to combine the washing machine with Technic to build a functional LEGO washing machine to wash the bricks.

Don't you wish your girlfriend were cool like her?
Hey…I never realized…laundry is FUN!
What is she doing in the inset picture at the bottom right…is she feasting on the laundry soap?
A Scala set a month keeps the My Dad in the cosmic beyond. Good to see we've been blessed today with a historic snapshot again.
The 8x8 round tile with 2x2 studs in the middle used for the rack as a stand is another common part from back then.
On an entirely unrelated note to this set, did you know there had been a serious offer from Mattel to buy the Lego company in the early 2000s? In another universe this would now be owned by Mattel.
Cropped jacket is fire!

So? What's the difference? You need to stop judging things on narrow-minded cultural assumptions, Ridgeheart!

"Click all the boxes with LEGO in the picture to prove you are not a robot"
I guess I'm a robot then. Beep boo bop.

Walls.
@Brickalili:
I had a lightweight windbreaker in my teens, which was white with red shoulders…until the first time I washed it. Of course the red wasn’t colorfast, so it bled into itself. Fortunately, I washed it by itself as a precaution.
@Prairiebricker:
She’s not wearing any pants, so maybe it’s a 2-in-1 that doubles as a bathroom?

My first cousin once removed (aged less than 6 I think) put his younger brother in a tumble dryer and turned it on... thankfully he got him out before he was injured beyond repair, but he definitely had some bruises, and now my cousin keeps a child lock on the dryer!
@magnumsalyer:
When I was fairly young, I figured out that, also being fairly small still, I could climb into the dryer (with the door left open, mind you), and reach out to grab onto the outer wall to push off of so I could manually spin the tumbler. I could get it spinning pretty fast, but it got old pretty quickly because it was like a roller coaster where you have to push the cart to the top every time. Also, my mom was afraid the dryer would turn on, and I was told to stop.

Bullet dodged!
Somehow I want that medium red Castle portcullis piece in this set.
Oh and that bath tub/crow's nest.

Wait until you check out her "minifigure" image in the brickset database for this set. Caution 18+

I was too busy laughing at the head sculpt. The faces just look so goofy.

You're bad, and you should feel bad.
StyleCounselor knows what you're thinking. :O
Okay, I do NOT want the $200 nostalgia remake of this set--but I admit that I'm curious to see what it would look like.
Brick-built Scala? Like replacing a raised baseplate with a brick-built structure? Would the Uncanny Valley become even more Uncanny?
