By in United States,

Anyone else see the irony in a log cabin being made of bricks?

By in United States,

That boat (kayak?) just looks like a banana.

By in New Zealand,

Too many dark red bricks! I can just see somebody building this set sealed and the pieces snapping and cracking as they are being placed!

By in United States,

my first creator house! love this set!

By in United States,

I mean, they do make giant inflatable bananas that you can tow behind speedboats.

By in United States,

Fun fact: this was the first Creator set to include a minifigure.

Let alone all of the brown bricks...

Always wanted this one back in the day

I was one of the people who have this set not my favorite but I often find myself using the pieces in my builds

No Way me too! I saw your comment and checked the random minifig of the day and I have it! I also have this log cabin! Crazy! Did you get the stone warrior in 70503?

I do too. They don’t come back when that happens, though, since I bought it for parts.

This version of the Stone Army Scout only came in 70666.
But I also have the older version from 70500.

That's right! When I was younger I failed to see the appeal of Creator with the lack of minifigs, so when they announced this set I just questioned 'Finally! Why didn't they always have minifigs?'

I also have some fond memories of this set despite never owning it or especially wanting it either, thanks to the designer tips video on the old Creator website. I thought it was revolutionary to see a house with both an easy lift-off roof and an opening back wall for easy access! We see these features all the time now, but it really got me interested in Lego houses as a whole after seeing how well designed this one was.

By in Canada,

Great colours in this set (brittle ones notwithstanding), except I have a difficult time explaining to myself the trans neon orange lights. Bug lights are yellow, so that choice puzzles me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@MeisterDad it might have been to make them stand out from the yellow windows and door.

By in Australia,

I remember this set! Anyone else remember the Lego Creator Island game? (different to Lego Island, this was a Creator version with different Creator 3 in 1 sets, if I recall correctly a dinosaur would come and attack your town but you could get a mech thing to help defend it).

By in Singapore,

Wow, I still have 6 sets of this!

Was planning to build a modular style building back then with 6 sets, but never got around to opening them.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I felt this is a classic and superb set even with its rectangular logs that may crumble one day.

It’s now my boy’s and he built a patchwork quilted bed for it. Sometimes its great to make your own interior and provide a minifigure from the overpopulation!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I foresee nothing good coming of putting a house that close to a river. Hope your flooding insurance is up to date, kayak man

Gravatar
By in Finland,

It seems so basic and primitive compared to the sets we get nowadays... The idea was good, but I was never into this set because they didn't even try to make "the logs" round but instead used normal bricks - it just doesn't do it for me.

By in Poland,

This was one of best creator sets ever. It was a steal for such price!
I remember i got 4

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I bought this “new and sealed” on bricklink years ago, opened it, the pieces were loose, then very quickly realised that some of the pieces were covered in dust.
Someone had built, displayed, taken apart, put back in the box and glued the box up.
My only bad experience with a bricklink purchase. Full refund was received.

By in Poland,

This one was one of my favorites back in the day! I used the B model as the house of my "main" LEGO dude. Good times.

Gravatar
By in United States,

First set I bought for my kids!!!! Great memories!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

One of my first post-dark ages sets :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I had this set as a kid!!! I remember I only ever built the main model and then broke the seet into my parts collection

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Fun set! I got one for sale but kept it. The model is quite substantial when finished, and it's a fun build due to the layering needed for the corners and the opening back section.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

One of the classic Creator sets, even if it hasn't aged as well as some other buildings from the theme. Wanted this as a kid, but not so much now.

Alternately, make sure you read the words precisely, with no deviation. Or faking it.

By in United States,

I have this set and I do not like it. I don’t remember exactly what it was that I didn’t like about it. I just distinctly remember disliking the build and everything about it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I got this set a few years ago and every roof piece broke when i took it apart the first time. Every. Single. One.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

First time seeing this set; I like it!

Shame about the pieces breaking. This whole situation with specific colours breaking sounds like something Lego just needs to retroactively fix, broken products/pieces should be replaced.
I haven't been able to check my own collection but I'm sure I own some of the offending colours/pieces...

Ah the good ol' days before LEGO jumped the shark......

Gravatar
By in Canada,

this was one of my first sets, i had a lot of fun building all 3 builds

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have this set and love it. When I get space my lego city will have a forest area and I’m going to put this in. Just need a new home with a very large space and considerable amounts of money and my dream will come true ??

I hope a fireplace won't be next to the house.

Yes, I have 97 Ninjago sets. I tend to like the bad guys more, mainly because I don't really need more minifigs of the main characters. But if Ninjago goes to space (like almost everyone else this year!??) then that would change.

What does Lego have against providing roof ridge bricks? I always hated the unfinished roof look.

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

I have two of these. Bought them essentialy for the roof bricks. Fortunately they don't break much.

I have 10311 Orchid, so I have 32 2x4 roof ridge bricks in Sand Blue. But not nearly enough 45° Sand Blue roof bricks to need that much ridge! :(

If by jumped you mean raised and by shark you mean bar, then totally agree. We are living in a LEGO Renaissance these days that began 15 or so years ago. I’d like Lego to rededicate itself on some of the quality concerns but the breadth of their offerings, their designs, and their customer engagement is at a zenith.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It bends my mind a little to contemplate a Creator set getting a nostalgia remake someday ("isn't that like saying a remake of a Freestyle set?" my brain asks), but this might be the one that does--it was iconic in its day and fondly remembered and there's ALREADY room for some major technique/piece upgrading. Just wait till it's 30 years old.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I do have 31048 : Lakeside Lodge and 31098 : Outback Cabin and the Lodge is the better set out of the 2.

Creator itself hasn't done a small cabin set like this in a while, however 10325 : Alpine Lodge did a great job on the log effect.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I remember vaguely wanting this back in the day, but 2011 being 2011, Friends and Ninjago took precedence. Kinda wish I had it now, but also seeing a set with so little SNOT is bizarre to me now. Creator has come a long way.
