Looks more like a Spiller, with nothing to hold the load in at the back.

I like the look of it, comes with power, too.

A perfect way to haul in these new 2024 set reveals!

By in Netherlands,

I recognise this one! This one debuted in 2009 and was one if the first to start using the more modern style of technic panels in the bed section. You can actually see the previous generation of panels in use for the front.

This was at the point before technic releases started to blend together for me

It's sets like this that make me wish Lego still did those technic big-fig guys. That cabin is just crying out for a driver

By in Germany,

I liked this one a lot, when it was around. And it was quite a bargain. Today, I would expect an irrelevant license pasted upon and calling more than double the price.

The alternative build of a flat bed lorry is also fairly good for the number of pieces available, and a good way to build up your motor and parts collection.

Well, just look at the lineup of Technic sets from that year to refute your argument about "whining".
Just rationally, and especially for the larger sets:
- not a single licenced set
- therefore reasonable prices
- B-models throughout
- no phone book sized instructions
- realistic looking models with plenty of functions

There's not a single set in that lineup that I wouldn't consider buying.
Which current Technic sets come even close?

By in United Kingdom,

The only 2009 Technic set I own! It's not very technical for a Technic set; it has no complexity whatsoever and there are practically no gears. But what is there (the steering, pendular rear suspension, and motorized dump bed) works well.

Plus, this is the only set to include those wheel hubs in yellow!

My guess is that this would be a vehicle good for hauling around logs because that lack of a back gate is just too weird. Bunch of rocks would just fall out, that V shape allows the logs to more or less fall into better alignment even though they're all going to be different thicknesses, and the open back also means their various lengths are compensated for. Speaking of logs, I suppose this could also transport telephone poles pretty well as they'd be a bit more standardized after all the trimming and shaping. The only issue is that it doesn't appear to dump to the sides, it still tips up. There's probably some engineer this vehicle makes sense to and can explain better.

Good to see that unlike "ze Germans" I am still allowed to whine about Technic nowadays ;-)

(at more than triple the price though...To be fair, it's not quite the same thing as that was fully remote controlled with 3 motors, but still...)

This looks like just a fine set. Nothing spectacular, but certainly not bad either. And decently priced considering the PF. Also a nice B-model!

What does any of this have to do with 8264?

Absolutely nothing, it's just that there's no place to discuss it yet and we just can't curb our enthusiasm.....

Oh right, I forgot about this one. Kinda makes my point. Still think 8264 is the better bargain, as I considered buying this, whereas 42114 was too off-topic for me, considering the price.

I once bought a white Technic hovercraft because I liked the hovercraft model, and then I think I got some tiny go-kart set because it was the easiest way to get a driver for the hovercraft. I think he eventually ended up piloting the first UCS X-Wing.

Same here.
Got to be the set of the year so far for me. Indeed unfortunate that it's a GWP again instead of a regular set.

By in United States,

Proof LEGO doesn't need a license to crank out good sets. I actually like this one better than the newer Volvo.

Wonder if anyone's done the Archer Artiillery System as an MOC? Used by the Swedes, the older versions are mounted on a Volvo A30D haul truck chassis.

Just imagine it as being from the film Maximum Overdrive. Then it automatically doesn't need a driver anymore.

Baby Jenny, to go with Baby Benny and Baby Lenny from CMF. Can’t tell if anything is in the cockpit of the ground vehicle in the left, but Baby Kenny would blend in with the cockpit.

I was thinking the same thing. There seems to be a rounded shape, but just too fuzzy to really tell.

it was more about calling out just how predictable some people can be. they know who they are."

Still doesn't explain why you felt a need to post something that does nothing for anyone. Makes zero sense.
Especially since you apparently don't care about Technic anyway.

They made it GWP because they know you want it and you will spend threshold for it and you'll be happy. ??"

Yes, they know me (us) all too well. I want cool, exclusive GWPs that make me feel good about buying their exclusive, expensive sets.

It's the Lego version of a sale. Otherwise, I'll just wait for a real price reduction. I'm in no hurry for anything and have too much already.

I complained (like everyone) about the crappy Millennium Falcon fig and card holder for the UCS set. But, now it's worth $350. So, I guess that wasn't too bad.

If they made me buy the Venator to get this cool GWP, I would do so instantly. Crappy patches. Nope.

Needs someone to MOC up a big Green Goblin face to go on it for that

Actually I won't buy some overpriced set in order to get this for "free". I am going to buy this on the secondary market, because whatever I have to pay there is going to be less than what I save in discounts by buying LEGO sets from other retailers than LEGO themselves.
