Almost looks like this one was sponsered by Mountain Dew. Do the Dune!

Do the Dewn? There's no good way to spell the pun phonetically.

By in New Zealand,

It's not the only one racing in the desert. The other competitors are: 8363, 8359, 31040, and 60218.

Must be a deforestation machine in disguise. It's the only way to race a desert. But if it wins, doesn't it just make more desert and thereby lose?

You made it look so simple. That pun was sitting right there, but I was too busy trying to be first... ugh...

You fools! The Baja racers are working *for* the Mountain Dew buggy. His at-Taco-Bell-year-round but on-store-shelves-for-limited-times minions are here!

After reading this comment thread, I suddenly want some Mountain Dew. Or MTN Dew, as they seem to be branding it nowadays.

By in Netherlands,

Honestly still holds up. I mean don't get me wrong they could make it better now but overall it is still pretty good

By in Canada,

But...how can one race the dessert? It's STATIONARY?!? (Although, and fairness; some do run on forever:))

My brother has this set. I remember the tow cable always gets stuck in the front wheels though.

Is Mountain Dew sold under the alternate regional name of Tio Oil?

Hey, I've got this set! Since its a pull-back, it may race 5, maybe 10, feet through the desert. But, as pointed out above, will win every time as deserts can't race.

dont forget 30032, 30033, 8863, 8864, 8896, 8897, 8898, 8899. He's part of the final solution to decimate the Backyard Blasters."

Sets can only participate in the race if the set has desert and racer in its name."

nah son, this race is merely one chapter of the storied history of the rivalry between these brightly colored factions, coming soon in 2010

I think this is the only Technic pullback to have an actual gear-driven Technic function, i.e. the winch.

Weidly all this talk about racing in deserts makes me think of the film Rat Race.
"It's a race! It's a race! I hope I'll win!"

The film features 0 desert 'race cars'. Except one monster truck, oddly enough.

OMFG!! LOL!!!

Is it just me?.. . Or, did your comment just transport me back in time when term papers were accomplished on big terminals at the college computer collectives where we all got work done, flirted, arranged dates, drank too much Dew, and smoked way too many cigs. ;)

good times.
