Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 4654 Tanker Truck, released during 2003. It's one of 6 4 Juniors sets produced that year. It contains 42 pieces and 1 minifig, and its retail price was US$15/£14.99.
It's owned by 450 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $48.30, or eBay.

Well, Tamatoa hasn't always been so glam...
Yup, the entire rear trailer has chrome silver tanks. And it is awesome!
The dude literally has a TRUCK hat.

You mean to tell me he was a drab little crab once?
I got this is a bulk lot once… minus the chrome tank pieces.
I found those chrome pieces in a pick-a-brick wall 17 years ago. I still haven't used them in a MOC, but I keep them carefully stored so they don't get scratched. :/
I have this set, and its still shiiiiiiiiiiiiiny after 20 years.
You may call it too blocky or junorized. I call it utilitarian. No one who crashes into that beast is going to drive away.
Hold up what is he spraying on the road? Is it gasoline?.... BOOOOOOM!!!
Octan on yellow looks weird...
Wow, it took three high-power rounds to the engine block to take that monster out.
Not even the ugly fig is going to dissuade me from liking this set. Octan logo and chrome pieces got me sold.
I love how the chrome has so far outshined that it's a Jack Stone style 4 Plus truck.
Chrome Wars is such a beloved subtheme, it's a shame they cancelled it =(
Presumably Scott Lang thinks it’s a water truck
Other than the chrome parts, is there anything - anything! - at least salvageable in this set?
I own this set! It's a piece of crap but, it has some interesting pieces.
There is a picture of the shinny tank part 45411pr0002 in rebrickable, which is more toned down than the render. Together with the trailer they only appeared in this set which seems an expensive one-off for a poor imitation set.
I used the chrome tanks from four of these for train cars. Still my favorite MOC years later.

The yellow cab parts were used without printing in CITY trains set 7939 ...So you could consider them salvageable.

Correct!
The steering wheels and the wheels/tires were used in a lot of sets afterwards too.

Jack Stone - nightmare fuel for kids and adults since 2001.

Gee, I wonder why someone would have kept those and gotten rid of the rest of the set...
Would be better if they did not use those type of minifigures. -_-
Ah, a set from right around the time that LEGO’s lineup tanked…
I’ve still got loads of that chrome part on the pick a brick wall at the Lego store in Bellevue WA IN 2007.
A set I do not have and would definitely not want. The chrome pieces mentioned multiple times in previous posts might be the only redeeming quality of the set. I can see where this set's release coincided with a less than spectacular time in LEGO's history; however, if the word 'LEGO' was not printed on every stud of each piece, I would have thought that this set looked more like a cheap knock-off from a LEGO competitor. The truck cab is plain awful. I am still trying to wrap my head around how 42 pieces comprise this set. I am glad LEGO rebounded and produced much better sets.

Lego thought that the target demographic was all about instant gratification, so made a lot of larger pieces that took the place of what would have been whole assemblies on older sets.
