The vehicle posts are getting out of hand. Now the cops are getting involved!

By in Australia,

What a cool set. I really like the printed police badge, suit for the detective, and the idea of an undercover police van, as a set.

If it's an undercover van, why does it have a road block next to it and suspicious cameras on the top.

The coolest police line. You got the feeling these guys were NOT messing around.

Cartman will totally chase you down with his Power Wheels cop car.

I got this from a bulk lot last year. It is a decent little set.

Cheese it, they've found me! Good thing I've got my Green LEGO Car to escape. See ya folks!

He's an entire day ahead of them!

I loved this van design! It’s still so solid!

Too bad you had to trade your arms and legs to drive the thing.

*This* set however, looks like a shiny beacon of 1996 in the bleak dark ages of 2003.

That's only because there's not enough room to fit open space inside.

Top vehicle: "wish I had a bumper instead of these yellow light thingies."

Bottom vehicle: "I got enough bumper for BOTH OF US."

Goodbye to the happy days of living in a little Town and hello to the stressful life in a World City. I have never liked the impression on the face of undercover cop, nor his dorky hair. Somehow I ended up with two of this set, both from used lots. I immediately traded the figures with regular town folks.

So... is there a screen somewhere so that cop can see what he's typing?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That van sure looks suspicious....

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

The 4WD reminds me of the Stomper 4x4 toy cars from the 80’s.

I really liked those police badges on 1x1 tiles - Back then they were the first 'real' accessory for minifigs that said 'cop' (handcuffs didn't come until 2008 and guns are a big no-no anyways). The closest thing we ever got since were the 1x2 badge tiles meant to represent an opened... um whatever you call those purse thingies, that I always felt were way too large in scale.

I also like that agent guy with the black sun glasses - 'You have not seen any aliens!'

By in Poland,

Never had a World City set but I did like looking them up in catalogues. The theme stands out because unlike Town or later City it has that dystopian feeling, the artwork on these sets was always nighttime. While I see why they changed to something more radiant with the advent of City, I do like World City for its uniqueness.

I was always annoyed by vehicles like this at the time because while they had working doors the windscreens were too deep for figures to feasibly get in and out, it bothered me then, it bothers me now.
If they'd just had some kind of two brick long one brick high windscreen piece, everything would've been right in the world (city.)

By in Canada,

Ok...when do the 'real police' show up...I mean, that '4WD' looks like multiple 'police' (w/BIG SHOES:)) would be coming out of it...And 'the van'...the CAMERA can be SEEN...THIS IS UNDERCOVER?!?!:D

Retina displays.

Is it just me or does the 4wd look a little short for how bulky it wants to be?

By in United Kingdom,

I’m assuming it’s undercover as, like, a newsvan or something because otherwise that giant camera on top is a bit of a giveaway

By in Netherlands,

There was something about World City that's just never been done anywhere else. The FBI man is a good example. He's kind of unnerving.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Did anyone else notice that the keyboard the FBI guy carries is devoid of certain letters. 'W' and 'Y', for example. World City really is dystopian. Or should that be Orld Cit.

Got a Y right there on the top row. Presumably because that’s the most important question they ask

Those came up in a conversation with a fellow LUG member a few months ago. Maybe you remember a product of that type where a standard Hot Wheels style car had a base it could snap into with monster truck tires.

@Atuin:
I think they still just call them badges. You’ve got four basic types, according to Hollywood. One style is worn directly on the uniform. Another one has a leather backing (probably with a belt clip). A third type has a fold-over leather backing. And a fourth type is kinda like the second, but worn like a necklace on a chain.

World City was over too soon.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If we’re gonna get so many police sets than why can’t they alternate colors and give us black ones like this? :/

Gravatar
By in United States,

This was my first non-duplo set.

Looks like 1791 got a government job.

Police badge in a wallet, yeah that's a cool piece. "Flip it open, flip it closed." (lets see who gets that reference).
