Vintage set of the week: Bungalow
Posted by Huwbot,
This week's vintage set is 344 Bungalow, released during 1969. It's one of 3 Legoland sets produced that year. It contains 77 pieces.
It's owned by 302 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

Kinda reminds me of a Maori wharenui, But I don't recall any having white chimneys and an antenna on them.
That's a massive antenna at this scale, and still, there were only 3 channels at the time.
I didn't have it, but i always liked those cozy houses. That's how I used to build them, white walls red roof and red windows.

Don't be silly. We got five channels. Six if the weather was absolutely perfect. Although, two of those were ABC affiliates, so they often had the same programming.
A brilliant start to the Legoland/Miniwheels era. Loved this bungalow, but my favourite from the same year was 346-2. Built to a soundtrack of 'Sugar Sugar' and 'Suspicious Minds'!
It's nice, but still, until the minifigures came along these were kind of paperweights.
Unless you store it on the top shelf, where it becomes a bungahigh.

Ah my favourite island from Bionicle
Vacation home vibes. I can imagine this being in a forest-side bungalow park.
I love the 1990 rendition of this set 6592. It's such a vibe where you could really feel you hide away from your daily life on vacation.
Are you threatening me?
I need T.P. for my
Bungalow!

The Archies and Elvis! What a combo! Imagine if Elvis had teamed up with them to form "Elvis and the Archies"! ??

There were plenty of mini figures in the 60s... They just didn't happen to be made by Lego!
Still a fan of that large window with the set glass.
Ive still got some of those trees. They are my favourite. I often wonder how many injuries they have caused with the needle sharp tips over the years. Falling on one would be a disaster lol

It's what came from having 3 sisters with different ages and tastes... The other single I remember getting played a lot that year was 'Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town'!

All three are good songs.
Ah, the day they ran out of bricks. At least they could bung a low roof on to hide it.
I would buy this set were it made the same today even if the trees are not System.

And once again, I'm reminded of Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs. I don't remember the exact quote, but it was something along the lines of, "In this age of political correctness, it's refreshing to hear a song that's unashamed to stand up for wife murder." I've never actually heard Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town, but I've read Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs several times.

Nice to see my first Lego set again. I can not really remember myself playing with it, but could identify it on an old famliy picture from 1970.

Sure hope he (like MOST people) has never read the lyrics to Tom Jones "Delilah"! Interesting that that even in the zeitgeist of the late 60's, the differences between gun and knife crime in the US and UK respectively were evident.
This was actually one of my first Lego sets ??
