Random set of the day: 4WD Police Patrol
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 6471 4WD Police Patrol, released during 2000. It's one of 45 Town sets produced that year. It contains 30 pieces and 1 minifig, and its retail price was US$5.
It's owned by 1,778 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $18.90, or eBay.

A step up from the rescue runabout!
Just look at those chunky tyres.
Gotta love when you sit higher than the windshield. Luckily he still has his cool shades, but he'll still have to worry about the bugs getting in his smile.
Should have secured your walkie-talkie better, buddy.
those wheels are huge, this might as well be a police monster truck

Monster ATV
Those are some big wheels.
But honestly, the part I'm really bumping on is the trans-green and the trans-blue.
Those two colours just do not compliment each other.
So this is where all the ground clearance that Cole's car yesterday was missing went...
I always wanted to build a dark, ominous alien vessel using a bunch of those trans-green windshields, but never got around to it.
Announcer Voice: "From the makers of 'Police Squad' comes: Police Patrol..."...now be honest; although not the second-coming of 'Sledge Hammer', you'd still watch :D

Nah. The wheels are normal sized. It's just that the truck is really that tiny.

No, the wheels are close to the camera, and the truck is far away.
BL says this set has 26 parts (not including the 4 parts of the fig). That makes this vehicle almost 31% wheels.

50% WBV, or 100 Proof, if you prefer.
The ridiculously lifted truck, the sideways hat, the discarded walkie talkie, driving on the shoulder - the Lego police academy is really turning out winners.
Marginally better than what yesterday had.
Juniorization was bad but that green windshield was terrible. They used it in the buildings, too. I’m so glad that it didn’t stick.
This is...uh...From someone who built it, it's uh, it's...well uh....
Printed lights, dark ages of Lego
4 wheel drive, and what wheels they are! I’d probably be letting them drive too if I had some that monstrously oversized
It's definitely a set, I'll give them that much.
Would be a 4+ set nowadays, and even then you’d get more detail and a few more parts.
Yep, I had this set! It was my first encounter with the larger hubs and tyres, which were new that year.

For when you want to drive over an escaping car to stop it that way...
In fairness, this had you build far more of the car than the other one-piece chassis designs. For that I kind of like it. It's bulky and simple, but at least it's not half built already out of the box.
One of my first sets. I never liked Town Jr, even as a kid (I had some older sets and I recall poring over their catalogues with envious eyes), but this one has a goofy charm.
Way better than Cole’s car.
I feel this is back when lego was cutting major corners. Today this would be a 4+ set. All the sets from this era would be.

Hey, at least they're not stickers.

"All" the sets? Even 7181 and 7191 (which came out the same year)?
He looks like he's about to catch Biker Bob.
But let's be real, Biker Bob is too fast for him.
Scum Police.
