By in New Zealand,

Soooo basic!

Especially for me after today, because I went to a Lego expo, and there was some amazing stuff!

This just in: Lions, Firetrucks, Automobiles, Airplanes, and Ladies are considered buildings.

That figure makes even Homemaker figures look modern.

That's not a lion. It's a dog with a wig.

By in United States,

Being a person who hates studs showing on my builds this is not my kinda set.

By in Netherlands,

Ten out of ten! Though this one doesn't quite go to eleven....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The use of shutters on the top left one is confusing me a bit; is it supposed to be a fire engine and they’re standing in for its siren/lights?

By in Australia,

A couple of years ago I realised that I probably had all the (period correct) parts to piece this one together. Which I did - all I needed was the box. I'd probably got this set several times over in vintage bulk lots. Given that this would have been something of a cheap parts pack in it's day, that's not surprising.

The sound system on my Tesla does though ;-)

Seeng that little yellow and red car on the box brought back memories of making many, many, many different vehicles in a similar way!

I guess it depends on whether "building" is a verb or a noun here.

I have a soft spot for the 1-3 digit basic sets from the 1970s. Total nostalgia trip, but nostalgia is powerful. :-)

Not from the Seventies, but I feel like that about a three-digit set, specifically 720, which one one of my first Lego sets, if not the very first one that I didn't have to share with my brother. It was mine, my own, my precioussss...

By in Canada,

All I ever built as a kid was stuff like this, and I had about this much of it. I kind of miss that.

By in Netherlands,

I love the little two step instruction to make that car

Just a shame that Huwbot is so ageist. No chance of my favourite 3 digit early 60s sets appearing!

Nowadays that would be at least 10 steps. Or probaly double that for either a 4+ or 18+ set. And 3 year old kids playing with Lego? Forget about it!

Even at one piece per step, it would only be five steps.

Although not a set in my personal collection, I did possess one similar from this era (113). The only requirement back then was imagination to make the creativity come alive. No fancy pieces, no rainbow of colors for pieces; just the basics from a much simpler time.

I count 8 pieces, so 8 steps. And how about using the other two for explaining how to turn the wheels? Front and rear axle separately, of course.

See? Where there is a will, there's a way ;-)

Oh, I hadn't noticed the red one with the black roof before, but I only count seven pieces in that one.

11, if the tires shipped separately from the wheel assemblies.

Two wheels and a red 2x4 brick at the bottom => 3
Red 2x8 brick => 4
Transparent 2x2 and black 2x2 => 6
Black 1x2 and 2x4 at the top => 8

And indeed if the tires weren't mounted, it would even be 12!

Is it...huh. I just took that for a 2x6, and I suspect @TheOtherMike did as well.

It's only 5 studs, and I don't think they had a 2x5 brick....
(and even the 2x6 was only introduced in 1981)

But even better: the whole thing isn't 8 studs long, but only 7. So the 2x8 brick I mentioned before will actually be a 2x4 and a 2x3......so 9 pieces in total!
