Today's random set is 1651 Maersk Line Container Lorry, released during 1980. It's one of 17 Town sets produced that year. It contains 305 pieces and 1 minifig.

It's owned by 87 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $2,708.40, or eBay.

Holy cow, that front bumper is going to Mansfield any pedestrians it runs into!

By in New Zealand,

Every Maersk set that Lego makes looks so cool for some reason.

Who is Lorry and why is she driving a Maersk truck?

By in Canada,

The frames for the back doors are extremely rare - the doors themselves are even more rare. Both (frame and doors) are only available in grey in 2 sets - both are Maersk trucks (1651-2 and 1552).

Is this a rare specimen of a 6-wide truck from the 80s? Nearly every semi in Town/City was 4-wide until around 2005.

Not you, the set. ;)

By in Netherlands,

As far as Maersk promo sets go... this one isn't quite doing it for me. It's a bit too primitive. I guess it's 'only' from 1980, just a couple of years after the minifig was introduced.

By in Jersey,

Great looking set, considering how long ago it was released. Only real flaw I can see is that the connection between tractor unit and trailer looks a bit sub-optimal. But then again, this probably wasn’t intended to be a toy as such.

I much prefer this 1651 to the other 1651.

As will be the sticker when you try to separate the bricks it’s covering!

By in Italy,

That's a weird looking truck, and the angle chosen for the photo really messes with your head... is the tractor 4 or 6 wide?

Interesting from the instructions they use 4 straight blue rails to provide easy container detachment and rigidity to the trailers, which are only made from short single wide plates rather than the usual 16 long Technic bricks. The trailers also tilt when the truck is removed so that the containers can slide off?

The truck is based on a single seater dockside vehicle to be small and nimble moving container trailers around and occasionally driving them into the lower decks of ferries etc. The engine is mounted on the side making 6-stud wide to keep the profile short.

By in Turkey,

Modern versions are much more attractive. This looks more like a cerator set, a little rough around the edges.

The origin of the once-rare (and $$$) Maersk blue helmets. Then came set 10219 with it's three Maersk blue construction helmets and the bottom fell out of the market.
