Not as good as the Technic of today, but this still holds up well.

And when the Forklift Transporter needs to be moved, is a Crane used for the task?

Nah, They get a bigger forklift.

Vehicles carrying vehicles? Shut me down - what madness is next? Machines making machines?

There's a train for that. It loads the train car on a boat.

How perverse!

By in Germany,

Always wanted this as a kid.

It appeared on the 1993 X-mas artworks.

Nowadays to be honest I think it's a bit poor for the flagship model of 1993's Technic, though that might be due to being a multi-model set, which always unneccessarily eats up parts.

Bonus fact: For some reason this includes the rare rubber bumper pieces made for the 1993 Technic Hovercraft.

By in Turkey,

I was so blown with these new wheels back when they were introduced in '86. They looked so modern. Old ones looked... Well, old. It was easy to build these models using other sets you have. This might have been a bit big, but I remember building many different things with my sets.

I remember seeing this one mentioned during the comment section of the recent excavator transport truck. Good to see it again!

For those curious about its functions, here is its Technicopedia article:

I always thought that the larger wheel pieces in this set were intended to be used as thrusters in space sets and such. Never really thought of them as being used for wheels.

Technic with studs was the best technic.

By in Jersey,

This was probably my last Lego set as a kid before a lengthy gap. I still have it!

Next time I encountered Technic, all the studs had disappeared.

The forklift is actually really nice, and feels like a better model than something which is just there to pad out the set.

By in Switzerland,

Yay! I have this one. Such a great set from the 90s golden era of Technic. Immensely playable with 3 vehicles and 7 total functions, a great parts pack with lots of large bricks and plates. The forklift is so good it could be a set by itself. There's an impressive B-model too, with very satisfying actions for the lower and upper ramps which line up. It felt like the Technic counterpart to the also great 5590

This is bait.

A forklift lifter?

Blissful. Technic is my first or second favorite currently produced theme but I wish it was still this skeletal to ensure you could always see the functions in actions.

My thoughts exactly! And I bet those new wheels are still fine, while many of those older ones have split in two, just while being in a box for decades. The tires don't feel quite as rubbery as I think they did back in the day, and I suspect they shrink a bit in the proces. Probably just enough to crack the weels...

As for the set itself, not the greatest thing ever, but just a proper Technic set, function over form. And with a good A-model and still decent B-model. Can't say that about many current Technic sets...

Yeah, I was thinking it had been mentioned a lot in 42175's review, but upon looking, it was only mentioned in two comments. Maybe the fact that both commenters referenced it multiple times threw me off.

Yeah, I only have them in 1682 that I can remember. I think I might have them in some other set somewhere, but I know I don't have them as wheels anywhere.
