I don't know why this sets price hasn't decreased, when you can buy a BARC speeder: 75378, and a better Captain Rex: 75391 for a fraction of the price!

The only reasons you would have to buy this set nowadays is for a complete collection, or the Commando droid, which we haven't had for ages.

That droid is probably why the price has remained where it has.

That Rex minifigure is honestly super overrated. I never realized how outdated the older design was until we got an even better one with sw1315

By in New Zealand,

This speeder was kept in use for being notably more effective than the By-TE speeder.

Those droids are worth 4 dollars each.

It's definitely all about the Rex minifig. The only sub-$200 New copy is listed without the minifigs, and the dirt-cheapest you can get the Rex minifig loose in New condition is over $100. Obi-Wan isn't exactly cheap, but capping out at under $40 isn't going to drive the set price up that high.

By in Canada,

The reason this rex is still expensive is the accurate torso and real kama

Reality still hasn't kicked in most likely
I can still find the grey goat being sold for € 17,50, those offers were made before it became available in PAB so now they have zero chance of selling

Goat prices took a hit because all most people cared about was being able to get _a_ goat in whatever quantity. The CMF goat put a hard limit on exactly how much anyone would have to pay if they weren't particular about the coloration, and the grey goat meant it would be easy to buy in large quantities, either through PAB or LUGBulk.

Rex is different. There are enough SW minifig collectors who don't just want every character, but every _minifig_, often including rare variant prints, or the mold error hairstyle for Leia. For these people, there isn't an alternate Rex available, but instead a sixth Rex they'll have to acquire in addition to this, two Phase I versions, the post-war "Old Rex", and apparently there's an Endor trooper that's supposed to be the same character.

Jay Leno spit-take dot gif - my response to that price.

Honestly I find that droid more interesting than Rex. I might buy a few.

By in Turkey,

I have made some MOC speeders based on that BARC Speeder. It has a good size and if you have some odd number of slopes very useful, too.

By in Netherlands,

Sets like these illustrate why I don't wanr to collect SW. When it came out it was just yet another BARC speeder to me, and that seperatist speeder has been done since 2002. At least this one has a sidecar, but nothing too interesting. So, I'd say it's a so-so build on its own.
No, but because of a minifig it since became 'rare' as it was one of the few outings of a major character. Good job there, lego.

And now you'd have to be crazy or super rich to want to pay for it. Which enough fans are, apparently.

I'm still very glad lego decided to release Rex in a small set recently. Finally!

By in United States,

I was really close to owning this set(at least Rex) at one point. A neighbor kid got this set for his birthday sometime after it released. He built it, but then got bored of it and didn't like it. I had made many trades with him over the years. Some that I regret now, but others that were worth it. I wanted to trade for Rex really badly, but I didn't because it was a birthday gift. Shortly afterwards he offered to sell his entire Lego collection to me. Unfortunately, I was no longer allowed to buy Lego, and he sold it all at his garage sale. I don't know at what price, but I can promise it was a steal. That is also why I have only the dress from Padme. I was not interested in the head and headdress at the time, and he sold it before I changed my mind.

Crazy how just one minifig can inflate a set’s resale price…

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@PurpleDave My bad I didn't realize so many people wanted all Rex versions instead of being happy with having at least 1 rex to command their troops (like me)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Always wanted this set as a kid, but I think I can pass now. It’s not worth the price when Phase II Rex is easy to get now.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Those prices make me very glad I don’t care about collecting unique or complete sets of minifigs. Which I imagine the people who do care are quite happy about because it means one less person competing with them at those insane prices

By in United States,

Of course I decided to go to bed early and miss the release of this. It's Rebuild the Galaxy day, gotta wake up early for the new show to release at 3am EST.

This set is awesome. I bought two just to recreate the opening to the Slave Arc for display. With Anakin from 7857 Nightsister Speeder (the official name is wrong) and Ahsoka from 75013 Umbaran MHC (she wasn't even in the Umbara Arc short of one shot of her Starfighter in the space battle during the narration of the first episode), that freed up a Rex to go to Umbara, and Obi-Wan to fight Maul on Mandalore in other displays.
While I dislike just how huge the BARC is, it works here with regards to the sidecar. This has unfortunately resulted in really huge BARCs ever since, the design from 7913 Clone Trooper Battle Pack is still my personal favorite, but with the release of 75280 501st Legion Clone Troopers, at least there's a consistency to expand the scene.

Oh yeah, and Rex. I'll be honest, not my favorite iteration of the character, but compared to the new version, I prefer it because there are added details that are missing that make this version more accurate. I'm not just talking the kama, there are more tally marks, and there's extra grit and grime that really makes this feel like Rex where the newer version is just too clean. If only LEGO had designed the helmet to have holes for rangefinders and visors like they should have from the beginning...

By in Australia,

Possibly one of THE most talked-about sets of the modern LEGO Star Wars era. Well, up until 75367 was revealed.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@McLegoboy I think you meant 7957 . And the name could be seen as somewhat accurate, given that Asajj and Savage were Sith apprentices.

Anyone else think it’s high time they did more Commando Droids?

No, You can buy it at Bricklink for $2

@Binnekamp:
Sounds like you’d be a good candidate to buy, build, and sell when things spike in value.

You’re going to get four main groups of people who want this minifig. On one extreme, some just want _a_ Rex minifig, and don’t care which version (except probably not the Old Rex or Endor Trooper versions). In the middle, some might want both Phase I and Phase II versions, but don’t care which release they get. Someone else might also want P1/P2, but specifically wants the most accurate version, and might seek to upgrade as opportunity presents itself. And others are trying to collect the entire run of SW minifigs, bar none.

@MCLegoboy:
I’m going to have to disagree. 7857 definitely looks more like a “Crossing, Electric Rails Grey 12V” than a “Nightsister Speeder”.

By in Canada,

I remember being a kid in 2015 or something, and really wanting this set. Unfortunately, it must have just retired at the time, and used copies were already selling for double new price! I thought that was silly, and never bought one. Now that looks like a bargain!
(I did trade a buddy for the Rex, which was great! Sold him a few years later for $50, which seemed great at the time...)

By in United States,

Feels very strange to have bought this as a teenager, playing with it like I would any other toy, when it turns out 11 years later it's worth bookoo bucks. For a while I didn't even understand why people were clamoring for a phase 2 Rex minifigure these past many years, because I have this and didn't realize what was going on in the reseller scene. Just figured it was like any other common set that lots of people have. Lego is a strange hobby sometimes.

By in United States,

This set includes two of those droids, oddly only indicated on the box art by the minifigure inlay.

By in United Kingdom,

Generic resale value joke or somethin idk

Gravatar
By in United States,

I see that set is now worth $385, and I am immediately filled with regret for certain decisions in my teenager years.
