By in Australia,

I had just graduated high school, when the HP franchise really became a thing. And it'd been a religious high school (and, I think, they're the kind of school that still bans books like that), so I hadn't really been paying attention to cultural trends.

My first exposure to the HP franchise was, in fact, the Lego merchandise tie-ins to "Philosopher's Stone", which was absolutely terrible, in a way, because the toys completely spoiled a lot of the plot points of the movie. But I got a couple of cool trains out of the deal, so all's well that ends well.

The mold does for sure, but those old fabric pieces are awesome.

Someone on my LUG's Discord posted an image of someone else's cyclops. They used the head and "hat" from 71000-2, a matching olive-green body from one of the newer Hulk bigfigs with removable heads, and added that cloth troll loincloth. It looked really cool, and wouldn't be possible with the new HP troll.

That's not how you hold the wand Harry. You'll cast a spell and it won't know where to go.

It’s the new quarterwand, a combination of quarterstaff and wand, useful for both spellcasting and physical melee. Want to cast a stun spell on your opponent? Whack him over the head with your quarterwand. Need to ensorcel your enemy with a Curse of Contusions, whack him repeatedly with your quarterwand. Need to snuff out a rival? Well, then you use your quarterwand to cast Avada Kemobster, and he does any whacking that’s necessary. Capisce?

Is 'Frodo' the troll or Harry Potter?

I dunno, without Ron there to accidentally levitate the club I’m not liking Harry’s odds. Gonna be a much shorter series in this timeline

I prefer this troll to the new one. The new one is way too big.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Are you supposed to hold your wand about halfway? Does magic come out of both ends if you do so?

By in Norway,

This troll is so much better than the new one! The long arms and minifig head really capture the stupidity of the troll, unlike the new 'roided body builder. The waistband of the loincloth not holding up is the only downside, but luckily I have a tutu that fits him instead!

The way this set combines with 4735 is kind of neat, although the poster showed Slytherin on top of this, when it logically should be the other way around.

By in Netherlands,

I got this set last year. It's great for what it is, and I love the colors used here. It was the right call to not use tan on the environment here. I also love the detail of the pumpkin jack o' lantern because the scene takes place on halloween.

Oh, and it combines with 4735 Slytherin to make it double as the haunted girls' bathroom where the gang brew polyjuice potions.

2002, what a time to be alive.

It looks more like he is going to throw a Javelin at him. Maybe he will do a little “THIS IS HOGWARTS!” Before he kicks him

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have three of these sets--or two bought new and one mostly complete used anyway. All for the army building sake of the trolls.

Gravatar
By in United States,

man, those old Harry Potter sets were pretty clunky, but they packed a whole lot of charm

That's not a wand, that's a stick!

You can tell it was pretty early for big figs and specialized molds. The troll really didnt age well.

Also why do the legs on the troll have the texture of kosher pickles?

A characteristic from the movies. A troll leg is used as an umbrella stand in Grimauld Place. In that set, the designers figured a barrel had the texture suitable to replicate the pickle texture.

I used the bottom piece to finally give Cap'n Rex a kama!

It's like a Wookie pelt thing.

Harry's jumping like Mario. I guess he's here to fix the plumbing the troll damaged.

They're both in the dungeons, so they should be on the same level, right?

Troll stands a little higher.

The troll was reported to be in the dungeons by the disguised badie of the book, Prof. Quirrell/Voldamort.

The students were escorted from the Hall to their dorms whilst the profs went to deal with it.

On the way, Harry realized Hermione was crying in the girls' bathroom on the first floor because Ron said she was a loser with no friends. Therefore, they had to go and warn her about the troll.

Quirrel definitely says it's in the dungeon, and Harry/Ron note that it's left the dungeon. I'm not seeing where it's specified which floor this girl's bathroom is located. I was able to pull up a scan of the script, and they note that Snape is heading towards the third floor (instead of the dungeon with the rest of the teachers), but that still doesn't clarify which floor the bathroom is located on.
