I prefer its older brother, 8043.

And I got this set's reboot, 42121.

This will be able to work with 8464, which was RSotD 4 days ago.

My first Technic set! I rebuilt it and motorized it for my kids, and they still love it. I think the claw is more versatile for play than the bucket, they love trying to grab plush toys with it.

Huh. I was wondering if we’d actually completed the sets that came with the grabber element, but apparently this is a different one than the TS3 trash compacter came with.

Ohh, what a lovely set. I have fond memories of it. A simple but great set with claws.
I always imagined 42144 as a mix of 8294 and this.

I'll second that, personally think 8043 is at or near the top of a list of a perfect Technic set, exemplifies everything a Technic set should have and do.

I was about to say the exact same thing. It is my favorite Technic set of the modern, Technic beam era. My favorite of the "old" era being 8880 (which was the pride of my childhood collection, and is still on display at my mother's house).

When the claw machines refuse to give you that stuffed animal, time to bring out the big guns

It's pretty cool. Feels weird to not have a bucket there, but variety never hurt anyone. At the end of the day it's all about the technic functions, which is what the theme should be all about.

It feels great to see yellow construction equipment that isn't a hyperspecific Volvo again too.

Oh, I have great memories of this puppy! One of the first Technic sets I built when getting back into the theme in 2013, and the largest Technic set I'd built up to that point. It was also a great introduction to the various types of Technic parts that I'd never encountered before, like the driving ring system and the linear actuators.

Funnily enough, I only got around to building the B-model last year!

We also got a newer one this year, but city themed! 60420

I remember liking it a lot back then, which means 2017 or so. Got it new for a good price on eBay...
