Oops, someone put some War Representation in my LEGO...
This reminds me how much I want a Peanuts set
Beautiful set
Very nice set, much better than its predecessor, 3451. As a history geek I really want to get this, but the price has been putting me off. I also want Lego to continue making sets like these, they could expand to do World War II planes as well.

I once thought about trying to MOC a Snoopy to put in 3451.
Looks like I'm not the only one getting lag or other issues, if @Maxbricks14's repeat post is any indication.

Fixed it. I find it very annoying when it takes several centuries to post the comment, so I end up spamming it.

I've got MOCs of Snoopy in aviator gear on top of his doghouse, and Charlie Brown/Linus standing next to his Christmas tree, both at minifig scale.

O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
Do kannst mir sehr gefallen!
The news had come out in the First World War
The bloody Red Baron was flying once more
The Allied command ignored all of its men
And called on Snoopy to do it again
Such a great set--I wrote an extended review of this one comparing it to 3451. 3451 is a fantastic set, holding up even today (other than the stickers which disintegrated). This one beats it in almost every way. One of the greats.
Wow…I literally just watched a video about the Red Baron.

And I was just rewatching the Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones which featured WWI planes in the episode!
Excellent set! Glad I got this cheaply 2nd hand from eBay on my return to Lego, before prices started to get silly!

I just watched Peanuts Christmas and a parody of the same on Saturday Night Live.

I got a rock.
This was one of my first sets when I got out of my Dark Ages. Fantastic build and a wonderful design!
I've still got it and its box in a cupboard somewhere.

I’m guessing Volume II, but I know that portion did spill over into both Volume I and Volume III.
Great set. Wish we got more aircraft models like this of WW1, interwar (eg Douglas DC 3)and WW2 aeroplanes, as well as postwar civilian ones. (eg Constellation)
Wife ordered one on eBay for me and was supposed to arrive middle of December.
Still haven't received it yet and hoping the holiday just slowed it down. Gonna be a bummer if I don't get it. Was a good price and still sealed.
Any idea what the difference is between this set and a malodourous runt wasting everybody's time? :)

The malodorous runt is the only one who has a cunning plan

I've no desire to be torn to pieces in mid-air by infuriated crustaceans.
One of 3 Advanced sets released in 2012. Nowadays that'd be a monthly tally.

Oh a nice big Constellation would be a must-buy!
In QANTAS livery perhaps?
It's crazy to think this is under 900 pieces. I wonder how many pieces a remake at the same size would be today.
There’s something I really appreciate about the simplicity of these historical WW1 aircraft. I’m still waiting for a new version of the Red Baron or a third iteration of the Sopwith would also be great. Some adjustments to its lines and proportions would be welcome. For instance, I’ve always been bothered by the lack of the upswept underwing and wheels undercarriage placement. The first iteration 3451 has a nice presence as well, love these models.
The set that brought me out of my Dark Ages! I was lucky to buy it in a toy shop at a reduced price before it retired.
Still a very nice set!
It was such a leap from the original, which was also a huge leap from... anything lego made outside of UCS sets from Star Wars. Now this one is 'flying high' for sure, but it's kind of unfortunate that the sheer amount of stuff being produced now at its price range and target audience would make it disappear in a crowd. Back when it came out it was pretty much a stand-out!

seconded! @JavaBrix wins the internet today!
Sopwith Camel? I love their 1967 song 'Hello Hello'... it's too bad they only had two hits in total in their entire career. But it's a good band nonetheless.
(I've been waiting YEARS to make this joke!)

Awesome as a Lego Connie would be, I'd love to have a Lego DC-3 more detailed than 7628. Don't gwt me wrong, I'm glad to own that set, but...
Such a magnificent set! I hope that with the success of the Concord there will be more iconic aircraft releases by TLG.

I got the same chance back then and didn't pull the trigger because there were so many other great sets at the time and I had only a limited budget.
Regret that to this day.
I had this, and when I took it apart to sell like half of the dark green tiles cracked. That was fun.

…. Had the same, but mainly the 2x16 plates for me
Who is desiner of this set ?
We opened the box last year, and many parts broke while building this set. I would consider this a bad product.

This set is from the time when LEGO had QC issues with brown, dark brown, dark red, dark green and a few others. They announced they fixed the issue in 2019.

I think it was Jamie Berard. I had the chance to talk with him during the LIT 2016. It was an emotional moment to tell him that his set ended my Dark Ages.
I also told him that the engine only had eight cylinders instead of nine. He smiled and asked me to fix it by myself!
A wonderful set!
I’m lucky enough to have two of these - one I picked up a couple months ago for a dirt-cheap price! $40 Australian, which is about $25 US!
No box or instructions, but 99% complete and just needed a good dust and rebuild!
Couldn’t believe my luck - almost felt bad buying it so cheap!
