CLIKITS! EVERYONE'S FAVOURITE THEME!

Crafts aisle? Did they really sell them there? I mean, did they really attempt to sell them there?

This does not appear to have Lego branding anywhere outside of the legal notice. Truly, the Clikits supremacy is overpowering.

That might explain part of it being considered a flop, though maybe it would've sold worse in a traditional girls' toy aisle.

I love when Huwbot embraces his true passion.

Nah it would have been put there because no one though it was Lego.

I *think* there's a small Lego logo just below the K in "Clikits" hidden by the pink heart piece - you can *just* glimpse the upper-right corner. Compare with the picture for set 7517 Cool Room Decor.

Finally.
It seemed like an eternity.

By in United Kingdom,

I mean I could check my local craft aisle but I suspect after this long they’re not going to have any

By in Poland,

I dread the day Huwbot runs out of Clikits for RSotD.

What a great way to start the workday! To quote Count Dooku: "I've been looking forward to this."

By in United States,

You all can be jealous that for Christmas, I got SEVEN Clickits sets from my Secret Santa on the Brickset Discord. Yeah, we know how to have a good time over there.

I'm totally gonna wear the scrunchie... somehow in my balding head. Just wait, you'll see.

Well, they did consider selling RoboRiders cans via vending machines, so it's not the weirdest idea TLG had during the early 2000s.

I was so caught up in the greatness that was the Skeleton Crew Finale that I completely forgot to check the Random Set of the Day, and of course it was Huwbot's favorite theme!

By in Netherlands,

Nice. It seems a bit thin for a bracelet, but my niece would probably love something like this. I kind of doubt her parents would have loved it at whatever the price used to be though, considering it's lego we're talking about.

Never owned any Clickits parts but I love seeing them integrated. Anyone that has them, what kind of connection do the pieces have? I know there's some level of compatibility but I'm curious to what extent with both System and Technic.

Didn't the same thing happen with Dots too, only for it to also eventually peter out sales-wise? Ah, how time is a flat circle....

Ah, I see, good spot. That still complies with my point about Clikits supremacy though :-P

I was gonna say. Both are cases of LEGO branching out into other markets/play patterns, and trying for alternate avenues of release. (IIRC Dots were also available with other LEGOs, but some arts+craft stores do sell model kits and things, so there is crossover appeal.)

For whatever reason, Friends was a lot more successful tapping into the girls' market, and it IMO wasn't as much of a departure from LEGOLAND/System. (Or Fabuland, I guess.)

Did LEGO consider selling Throwbots or Bionicle in the action figure aisle? Sometimes model kits like Zoids or Gundam would show up there.

Ooh, cool, well-aged, inanimate corpses. Load up the catapults and trebuchets!

@Onatu:
Primarily, they had a connection that resembled the tip of a Technic pin with two splits instead of just one (but far too short to actually connect to Technic pin holes). There was one part, however, that worked like an anti-stud reverser, so there was limited compatibility with System.

@Ayliffe:
In the US, Friends started the shift of putting LEGO product in the “pink” aisle, followed by Elves and Disney Princess. These have all been rolled back in with the rest of the LEGO line now, and I can’t remember if Dots primarily got pushed in with the various minidoll themes or if it went with the minifig stuff. I’ve never seen any sets lumped in with the craft aisles, which are more targeted at adult scrapbookers, and located in the Home Goods section.

You can get normal retail LEGO at vending machines at airports now, so it's not that farfetched. The real barrier IMO would've been using that much money in cash in a machine-- not sure when credit/debit card usage became prevalent enough.

I haven’t seen that, but I did see a mini LEGO Store that didn’t even participate in the VIP program.

By in United States,

I have several of those bracelets I got MISB and they're all so fragile they crumble upon being touched. Whatever polymer TLG chose for that bracelet part does not hold up over 20 years, which is a shame because they're actually a cool part for an NPU
