Two Bulks in five days? Is Bulk the new Clikits?

By in United States,

QUICK LORE!

Quaza is used to make Hero Cores!

They stopped mining Quaza on the "Savage Planet' because it was killing the planet!

Witch Doctor started a mining operation, using infected Quaza to mind control the wildlife!

Hero Factory put on animal suits to put a stop to him!

QUICK LORE!!!

On a side note, this was always a figure that felt super strange to me. Bulk was meant to be the heavy hitter/tank of the group, so making him a wolf seems like an odd choice. Something like a rhino would've felt a lot better. You may argue they were going off of the character's color schemes to make it feel natural, but in that case why did they make Stormer a rhino? An arctic wolf fits Stormer way better than albino rhino, although either is better than Bulk-wolf.

Just curious. Do you get all the lore from what you already know? Or do you sometimes look stuff up to post?
If it is all from held knowledge that is quite impressive."

It depends. I usually won't make any statements on lore unless its something I've got a base knowledge of already. I usually have to look up things like spelling, or forget a character name here and there, but I try to go off the top of the dome. That's a part of why I tend to do a "QUICK LORE" for stuff other than BIONICLE. I can give the gist of what I do know without delving too far into stuff I don't.

A lot of the stuff I end up looking up are names of masks/weapon powers for the Bonks, double checking my timeline is correct for characters in a lot of flashback scenes, and the newer seasons of Ninjago.

It doesn’t have a specific colour scheme. The second instalment was orange, as you can see by looking at the sidebar.

Hey, Hulk's been gray in the comics. If memory serves, he even started out that way. So, they're free to adapt that, if they want.

Maybe they figured that, as the veteran, Stormer would be…leading the charge?

*cricket noises*

In any event, after a quick glance at their various incarnations, Bulk doesn’t really stand out as the group’s tank, at least not visually. Whereas Stormer seems to be the type of character who doubles as both a leader and tank.

None of which really explains why Bulk is a wolf. Though those guys are bigger than a lot of people tend to imagine.

By in Netherlands,

I have one of these for sale from a bulk lot. It's one of the best of the wave -character archetype noewithstanding- because the silver colorscheme looks nice and it's one of only two who don't just use a giant claw hand as a weapon (the other is Furno 3.0). The head is also not too big.

Never understood why they gave Bulk (the "heavy" of the team) a wolf motif, while they gave Stringer (the "music fan" who weaponizes sound) a bear motif. You'd think they could make some connection between wolf calls and sound, and bears/strength.

This has to be my favorite Hero Factory helmet design, and I would say this was the best of the Savage Planet Heroes too.

Excellent points!

Although, looking at some other versions of Stringer, he looks like "heavy" material as well.

Ba-dum-tish?

Gravatar
By in United States,

They're trying so hard to hide the fact a character named Bulk has no upper arm definition. Not even two small CCBS shells could have been used, they're just going with the bare bones? I see through the lies of the Council.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I agree with @xccj that this helmet design was among the better ones in the wave, alongside Stringer and Nex. Although I ended up parting out my Bulk 3.0 set and upgrading my Spinax with it instead, the Savage Planet heroes were very much an improvement over the disappointing Fire Station wave.

Even as a kid, I thougth they should have swapped Bulk's and Stormer's animals. Wolf motif fits Stormer way better. He is the "ice toa" of the theme, and wolves, unlike rhinos, do live in colder climates and can have white fur. Oh, and he is also the leader of the ALPHA 1 team! Meanwhile, rhino motif nicely fits Bulk's name and his signature colour.

Oh, jeez, that’s actually a thing? And "quite possibly one of the best worst films ever made” is the most glowing praise it managed to garner? I’m so incredibly embarrassed for you that you’d even reference "The Room of superhero movies".

By in United Kingdom,

One of only two Hero Factory sets that I've... I don't want to say *owned*, that's too strong a word, but have passed through my hands. But they were in the Bionicle bag that I mentioned on 8557 Exo-Toa's RSotD post, so I had two semi-complete Heroes on my hands as well as the Bionicle sets that I had got it to rebuild and sell.

I brought him and 44006 Breeze a bit closer to completion than they were, but wasn't motivated enough to track down their more unique missing parts so ended up selling them as just partially complete, amongst a few other sets that I also hadn't been able to sell on their own.

The Hero Factory characters were fine, I guess, but I didn't find myself particularly excited by them. Though to be fair, it would have been hard for *anything* else in the lot to excite me when it had to compete with the surprise Exo-Toa find that it had also given me!

Leave it to hero factory to make furries awesome for once, and leave it to the big, tanky, guy to be the awesomest furry known to man
