Spiderman, Spiderman. He does everything Rhino can... Oh, and sandman too.

When are we going to get an ACTUAL Rhino bigfig????

It's the same situation as Ant-Man. When will we see a normal minifigure version of him again, instead of a buildable figure?

By in United States,

It's disappointing there's not one Sandman figure that is just his normal look and not half sand. I get why they do it, but he's not in a constant state of using his powers, he's just a regular looking guy. At least leave the torso print alone.

Probably when they give him a movie version of the guy stuck in a big suit, rather than in a mech.

Like, *another* version of it. I’m not anticipating Kraven sets

Interesting that this includes the winch roller piece, but the string piece is one you can't tie to that.

feels strange to see the old early/mid 2010s spiderman figure with dual moulded legs

looks good though! I do like the old spidey

also, clone head rhino. I believe a old comment here on Brickset once said
"Clone head too angry to die"

200,000 units are ready, with a million more well on the way.

Why does Rhino have white studs to shoot? Is he firing fingernails?

By in Australia,

I'm sure I bought the Rhino suit from an eBay seller who parted out the set, but I didn't buy the rest of it.

This set was the subject of the most negative review Brickset has possibly ever published. The Super Jumper worked okay on its own, but almost every superheroes set for a year built play features around knocking precariously perched objects down by launching figures at it. I figure this kind of thing is why a decade on, those two themes exclusively make vehicles or static display models.

Maybe shooting slices of ivory?

That explains why my first reaction was: oh no, not this set again. I don't remember the specifiics anymore, but I remember just thinking this was probably super fragile, messy and overly built around that one gimmick. One that cracks minifig legs when used too!

Kind of weird to think that we're looking at the first Sandman minifig btw. It feels like we've gotten so many over the years. The first Iron Spider too. And Rhino, technically. I only now realize this was probably a way to indirectly tie in to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which featured a similar Rhino. They might have even said as much but it was only a few years ago when I first watched those two films for the first time.

I read that too quickly and thought you were suggesting Rhino was shooting slices of irony at his opponent.

Quite glad recent years gave us better versions of Rhino

Such as the clockwork one in last year's Spider-Man Advent Calendar? That thing was adorable.

Honestly, yes. I’d take adorable mini-machine Rhino over this half-baked mecha-machine version

One of the best to ever do it. Hoping for something like a remake of this type of sandman play set

I stand by it. One of the ugliest and most fragile sets produced since 2000, which is just horrible to play with. Those 1x2x5 bricks attached with one stud each, serving as a 'play feature' because you can knock them off, are embarrassing.

The minifigures were appealing at the time though, with the first appearances of Rhino, Sandman and the Iron Spider suit, so I suppose it was not all bad.

By in United States,

Aweee, cool. 2nd set I ever bought (and my first purchase from BrickLink!) I absolutely loved watching my son play with this one. Looking at it again now, it would be fun to set aside Rhino and the crane and use the other parts to build something else from scratch.

To be honest, I never saw that review but still had that reaction when the set came up. I had it back in the day and it was indeed a fragile piece of crap. Granted, an *intentionally* fragile piece of crap so that the gimmick would work, but I feel like the whole rest of this Spidey wave was better than this set. Still cool to get Rhino and Iron Spider-Man

A secret Doctor Who crossover, the Rhino and the Eric Roberts Master.

Now that would be ironic, indeed, since, if @Ridgeheart is to be believed, he probably doesn’t even understand the concept of irony.

I do think that Lego action playsets should have fun destructible terrain for good roleplay, but it'd have to be in more thought-out ways, not spindly individual bricks to knock over, and also not compromise structural integrity of the whole playset, which this evidently does - I was flipping through the instructions since everyone here was talking about how flimsy it is, and I am shocked at how weak the center of the build is for no good reason. Make some cracking stone bridges (not just the flopping wood ones they do), cliff faces for landslides, collapsible balconies, fun stuff, but don't make the whole thing fall apart when you pick it up. Minecraft debris is boring since it's just single large chunks, but I'd rather take sturdy destructible features over a trio of single-studded carbonite bricks.

What, you’re not impressed by supervillains smashing through shoddily-constructed balsa structures?

9474 Helm's deep isnt bad in this regard with its exploding wall, still largeish chunks, but enough of them to work.
only issue is I always found it needed quite a bit of sudden force on the lever to really make it work.

The Spidey & Friends version in 10790 doesn't have any sand on the torso print, but instead of a t-shirt he's wearing some kind of stripey military uniform.

@Ridgeheart said:
"These days, Rhino has mostly settled down. He's still peripherally involved with the super-set of New York's criminal element, he still hangs around in the Bar With No Name, but he doesn't really take jobs anymore. He rarely fights against superheroes anymore, and can sometimes be seen actually helping younger superheroes such as Kamala Khan and Miles Morales, especially when there's kidnapped kids involved."
Apparently he's back to fighting Spider-Man now, on the cover of an upcoming issue.

Yeah I saw that and went, "Oh, that sucks." I want vanilla Sandman. Classic green stripy shirt, looking just like it did in Spider-Man 3, straight from the comics.

Downloaded a CGI model of this. Wanted to use it in a CGI Brickfilm of Spider-Man fighting Sandman. Imported it into the Blender scene. Didn't use anything from the set at all. Finished the video.

He's throwing Alanis Morisette at Spider-man? That monster.

For real this October is Lego Marvel Superheroes' 12th birthday and that game was the only time we can see/play as Rhino. PLEASE MAKE A RHINO BIGFIG, LEGO!!!

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot about Lego Marvel Superheroes 2. Forgot he is in that game.

Rhino has gone through a number of pretty crazy iterations. He’s been a big guy in a costume, a genetic monstrosity, a guy in a mech, and I don’t know what else.

Alanis Morisette failed to list even one instance of actual irony, in a song about irony. That's pretty ironic. Don't you think? A little TOO ironic."

In the video for Weird Al's "Word Crimes," when he sings "Irony is not coincidence," there are two picture onscreen. One is a fire truck on fire, labelled "Irony." One is a bride and groom getting rained on, labelled "Weather."

Hey, just because she's Canadian doesn't mean Alanis Morisette is a monster.
