Learning that that weird flexible part was designed for a steering gear was such an aha moment... my only set with it was a later Life on Mars sets that used it for visual detail.

It is really crazy how cheap some of these vintage technic sets are from this late 90s/early 2000s era

The classic look always gets me. I can spot couple of new pieces (they were new in '90's) but the set still has that oldschool Technic vibe. I wasn't quite on board with the clear build on the new cylinder block mold but it's ok.

Whereas it gave me a bit of nostalgia when I saw it in 7316, as I first encountered it in 8832, which was my first Technic set.

For once the go-kart is actually not an impulse set or a B-model but a fully realized technic model! And it's a nice one! It even has break disks!
This kind of wheel was used n a lot of sets back then, but it makes a lot of sense on this one too!
