No, Car go Vroom

That retail price was insane, even with the power functions!

Still waiting for someone to finally come through with a viable 3rd Party replacement for the 9v train motor.

Cargo train? No, car don't go train. Car go road.

It might be kinda goofy looking, but it’s still a nice 9v train. Still on my Wanted List.

I got one for a good price off eBay last year... but some parts were glued together. Still need to order replacement parts. I was warned but went ahead with the purchase. Now I regret it a bit :).

By in United States,

I picked up two of these. Still have them, mostly together. Those doors reminded me of the old cargo doors from the 80s, but they weren’t quite as good.

Great set. My original had deformed piece (1x3 plate) which was cool but I was also annoyed I couldn’t finish building. Rebought the whole set again off Bricklink a few years ago and it was worth it

My thoughts exactly...

By in Finland,

I wish that I, too could drive a forklift that carries gold bars!

Great set. When I think of World City the first one that comes to mind is this one, despite not being the most representative.
Those gold vars and doors on the engine just stood out to me.

It in tur reminds me of the first City cargo train from 2006. The difference in designs is palpable.

My first ever train. Bought it on 50% discount, without knowing, that 9V system is being phased out. Shortly after I manged to buy a few last packages with rails. But not many, I am still missing especially straight 9V rails.

Fun set, though suffers from a more solid build for some of the cars that we're used to with newer sets

By in Australia,

Another lovely old train set that I never bought, at the time, and I've regretted it ever since.

One of the last gasps of 9v trains...

Using sideways chairs on the forklift is a cool little trick.

I used to have rails and a controller like that. Real pain to set up, don't even know if I kept it or had my parents trash it

In my experience, they don’t really bother with fenders on the front wheels of a forklift. They generally don’t go fast enough to need them, for one thing. Then there’s the fork assembly, which somewhat serves that purpose, but also needs clearance to accommodate the tilt function. Rear wheels probably only get fenders due to a combination of needing to be fully contained within the width of the body, and having to load up the back end with solid metal to act as counterweight to the load being carried.

It does. Perhaps the designers that worked on World City wanted something similar when City came about.

Love this train. It reminded me of the 4564 which is also a good looking cargo train. Also bought the 3677 of similar design when it came out in 2011.

I was actually trying to grab lots of chrome parts from Bricklink around 20 years ago, and gold-chrome 1x2 tiles were one thing that I had focused on. When I pulled them out to actually use a few, I discovered that quite a few of them had zero clutch. For parts that need to attach to studs, I had much better luck with one of the custom chromers, but that's no longer allowed on Bricklink.
